This well-located, secure hotel has very clean and attractive rooms, featuring comfortable beds, a quiet and efficient air conditioner, a work desk and plenty of storage space. Our first room had a private bathroom a short way down the hall and overlooked a very busy street (although the soundproofing was excellent when we closed the window). For our second night we decided to splurge and moved to a room with bath, which overlooked a much quieter street so we were able to keep our window open all night, which we prefer. All the staff we encountered were welcoming and very helpful, especially the young man who processed our move for the second night. Breakfast was wonderful, with great variety of fruit, pastries, breads, cereals, cold sliced meats and cheeses and delicious coffees from a very efficient machine. The woman who runs the breakfast was delightful and kept everything well stocked and sparkling clean. They have a video running in the breakfast room highlighting the many sights in beautiful Trieste - now one of our favourite cities! We plan on returning and will definitely stay at the Nuovo Albergo Centro again.

I liked the location of the hotel and the assistance of the hotel staff, everything was clean inside.
All other minor drawbacks did not play any role in comparison to my impressions from the journeys I had planned. Triest was the best option to see other greater cities in the vicinity.

Near the Slovenian border, Trieste combines the waterside setting of Venice with the elegance of Vienna. The Habsburgs ruled here for over 500 years and built Miramare Castle on a rocky outcrop to the north-west. Their other influences include stately Piazza Unità d’Italia, looking out to sea and spectacularly lit at night.
But this is just a glimpse into Trieste's long and fascinating history. The 1st-century Riccardo Arch hides in a narrow street, and part-way up the hills behind the city centre are Roman theatre remains, while columns from the Roman forum stand next to San Giusto castle and cathedral.
The most photographed church is Sant’Antonio Nuovo, overlooking a boat-lined canal. The nearby Stock Exchange has a colonnaded façade and its square houses some of the city’s shops. The most popular cultural attraction is the Revoltella Museum of modern art, while more sobering is Risiera di San Sabba, a former concentration camp near the Palatrieste and Nereo Rocco sports stadiums.
Watersports include windsurfing and kitesurfing from the port which is an important coffee importer. Unsurprisingly, the city’s Viennese-style coffee houses serve top-quality brews, and the best is reportedly Caffè San Marco, once frequented by famous authors.
Booking.com’s Trieste accommodation includes hotels with pools, cheap apartments by the station and B&Bs near Ronchi dei Legionari Airport.
Very delightful city with plenty of good venues to see.
Very delightful city with plenty of good venues to see. Really enjoyed the Van Gogh exhibit at the museum. Also enjoyed the fort at the top of the town. Really nice restaurants around the canal serving fresh fish and local fare. Surprisingly nice port for larger ships as a replacement for Venice. Spent 3 days there and enjoyed each day with something different to do each day.

Great city to visit!
Great city to visit!
Due to its geographical location, it is relatively close to Ljubljana in Slovenia, Udine, Venice etc. etc.
I could visit Ljubljana and Venice as well this time from Trieste.
Its old town, harbour, main square (Piazza Unità d'Italia) is amazing. Loved just rambling around in the city.
Since it is build on a hill(mountain)side (the Karst), when entering the city by bus, we were descending in some serpentine roads. It provided an amazing view on the city and the harbour.
You could also read the book 'Trieste and the meaning of nowhere' by Jan Morris.
Also, James Joyce seems to have liked the city, too.
Trieste has a very interesting and rich history.

Trieste is an amazing place Italian and yet not.
Trieste is an amazing place Italian and yet not. A mix of cultures. Lovely to walk about and enjoy the city. Visit old cafes where James Joyce and his literary friends gathered. So much history. The food is delicious and some of the best white wines to be had anywhere in the world. I could go on but I’ll end by saying Trieste is not to be missed .

Trieste is a very compact city.
Trieste is a very compact city. The main square and restaurants are all close together. There is a wide variety of eating places that all seemed to be reasonably priced.
The harbour side sea font is pretty and it is well worth taking a ferry trip to Muggia (30 minutes)
Mirimar Castle is also well worth a trip 25 minutes on the NO.6 bus from outside the train station.

Trieste exceeded our expectations.
Trieste exceeded our expectations. I’m not really sure what we expected as we didn’t really know that much about it before our visit. We just stopped there en route to Venice after walking in Slovenia for a week as Trieste was the closest Italian city on the coast.
The history of Trieste is tremendous and the palaces and pedestrian areas are so amazing. Huge piazzas and little narrow lane ways winding around up towards the castle and church on the hill.
There are so many little bars and restaurants everywhere, all of them serving up great Italian food. We wanted to visit all of them but of course could only go to a few. Can’t even remember their names, we just wandered and walked into ones that we liked the look of.
We also loved the Italian ‘vibe’. After a week in Slovenia it was very noticeably ‘different’, less formal somehow, the coffee quality went through the roof, although, Slovenia is probably the most scenic country we have ever been to.
Would thoroughly recommend a stop over in Trieste to anyone.

When coming to Trieste, you shouldn't miss a stroll to...
When coming to Trieste, you shouldn't miss a stroll to Barcola in the summer a really lovely place to share an afternoon with friends having a swim in trasparent and green sea water.
Trieste offers a wide range of typical food but also international options; in the morning do not miss Via XX Settembre with its characteristic small cafeteria and bars with tasty street food.
At night you can enjoy a drink outside the lively pubs even in winter!
If you like caves, there is the Grotta Gigante, not far from town where you can experiment a journey in one of the tallest European Grotto.
Finally, there are also many hystorical and literary short trips you can book or arrange by yourself downtown or in the not too distant Slovenia.
We (2 adults and our 10-years old daughter) spent a night in the hotel, visiting Trieste on our way from home from Tuscany. It is positioned near the most picturesque part of the downtown and the harbor. The room was clean, spacious, and well equipped. The staff is kind and helpful. Parking places are available on the street for fee or garages are available in the surrounding area. The hotel offers a convenient drop and pick-up service for 20 Euro (we haven't tried it). We had a good breakfast.
Quiet area, near bus the station and supermarket. The place was clean and spacious. I read the reviews about the narrow streets to get to the house and I thought that maybe we will have some problems since we have a big car, but it was actually ok, no problems with that. The owners are lovely and really helpful, we received a lot of good information about what to do and see in Trieste.
P.S. thank you for letting us meet your family. It was one of the best experience from the entire trip.
The first thing to know is that this is not a hotel room, but a one bedroom apartment. It is very spacious, comfortable, modern and clean. Separate kitchen with basic equipment, adequate even for a longer stay. A spacious bedroom with a huge closet and a comfortable bed. Comfortable living room with large sofa and decent dining table. Good breakfast at a very reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. All in all, more than adequate for this price range.
Hotel Milano is located at great location in the center of Trieste, within easy walking distance to the train & bus stations and the most interesting parts of the city itself. The room was simple, but spacious and clean with good bathroom and allowed me for a good night rest. So, if someone is looking where to stay with a need to travel the day after by train or bus, look no further because here is the best value that I definitely recommend.
The apartment is located in a beautiful, recently renovated palace in a pedestrian street, close to the seaside and the major piazzas of Trieste. Even though it is an apartment, it is operated by a hotel, so you can check in any time and you can have breakfast in the hotel building, which is literally two minutes walk away. The place is clean, quiet and quite spacious. The kitchen is well equipped.
Perfect location, charming, clean, comfortable, nice staff. Definitely recommend this place and if we go back to Triest will stay there again! We’re lucky and parked our car on the street in front of the hotel (no payment was needed), but anyway if there is no free space, the public parking is very close to the place and the price is ok 10€/24h (it’s just about 4-5 min walking distance).
Hotel Solun is a lovely boutique hotel in central Treiste. Staff and friendly, welcoming and helpfull. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished and decorated. It has a lift essential for heavy suitcases.Great breakfast with changes each day. Less tha 10 minute walk to station, shops and port. Many restaurants close by.
Our stay at the Le Saline luxury guest house was awesome. Clean, comfortable and perfect location. We were able to visit so many places and enjoy the historic and cultural areas. The staff was responsive and accommodating. We love it here and in Trieste in general. What an amazing city. E stato spettacolare! Grazie!
The room was great and the location was very central. The place is small overall, but the room doesn't feel too small and the bathroom was big enough. There is no common space or lobby, though it is a hotel. I would say it's a boutique hotel and it has only one small elevator that can fit 2 people at a time.
The place was in the very center and the process of getting in the apartment was very smooth. The apartment was very spacious and absolutely perfect for family with two teens. It was very clean and we consider us to be so lucky to get this one for our stay in Trieste. Looking forward to go there again.
The location right on the water is only a short drive from central Trieste, and ideally located when departing towards Venice and other points in Italy. They will serve scrambled or fried eggs on demand for breakfast. Parking on the street just outside the hotel is convenient.
This hotel is centred in the middle of Trieste - it is very well kept, clean rooms and bathrooms - breakfast excellent - considering the price paid for a family of four it was excellent. Yes, we shall return to this hotel and we highly recommend it to future visitors
Beautiful and spacious room. Very quiet even it faces the street. Convenient location to walk around (and a great bakery nearby!). The decor is unique and feels luxury. The best part is the king size bed. Big and comfy. We slept really well.
The location was perfect! The hotel was right next to the main bus and train station in Trieste. The staff were nice and helpful. There was a common area downstairs where you can microwave food and make coffee.
A very friendly staff, good breakfast and a very well located parking in front of the hotel.
We got a wonderfull big room with the fireplace.
If you are comming in Trieste with a car, its a good choise.
Charmingly furnished rooms, boutique hotel in an historic building. Located in a side street steps away from Piazza Sant’Antonio and the Grand Canal. Warmly welcomed by host Andrea.
