Wanaka is the most beautiful place to visit The views of the lake and surrounding area are really stunning. It’s seemed a really peaceful place with just enough to do. A wholesome town just outside of Queenstown. I could've stayed here weeks. It was a great location to be based at for Roy's Peak Summit, more hiking and days spent by the lake. Wanaka itself is a lovely spot.
Wanaka itself is a lovely spot. It was lovely without being too much of a tourist trap. The art gallery I visited was very good, and the two local restaurants also good and reasonably priced. The staff at the Thai restaurant were especially friendly and helpful. I wish I had stayed long enough to drive out to a few places from Wanaka.AAnonymous

It's not easy walking distance to the main area in Wanaka, but it's not far (about 20 minutes).
