Lovely little city on a river. Lots to see and do. Must see the Gorge and walk the lovely walks there. Waterfront restaurants, Family friendly places to visit. Safe for women travelling on their own. (use common sense) Penny Royal accommodation is close to everything and family friendly. Just go down drive and you are almost on the bridge that takes you into the Gorge.

Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough. If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered. There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

There are a lot of short trips from Launceston for viewing other locations of interest. We did the short river cruise which was very interesting. Lots of good dining facilities in and around Launceston. Great motor Museum for car lovers. Enjoyed our time in the City Park - definitely worth devoting a few hours. Another location we enjoyed was the Cataract Gorge.

Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. Stay central to access in walking distance to businesses. Look up parking, locations etc before trekking out.

Wonderful old home (and once a private hospital) which has been made into very comfortable accommodation. I loved the fireplace. The rooms are very large with everything you'd expect in hotel style accommodation. It is a short walk downtown to restaurants, bars and shops. Launceston is hilly and the building is near the top of a hill, so the walk back up may be trying for some. This accommodation was excellent value for money.

This is a great place to stay for a couple of days in Launceston. It’s located on the edge of the CBD, close to the stunningly beautiful Cataract Gorge. The hotel is adjacent to the slightly eccentric Pennyroyal visitor attraction which means it has the benefit of a few places to eat and drink that a hotel in this type of location wouldn’t normally have. My room had clearly been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean.

Very nice hotel in old building with a bar at 1st floor. Everything is safe and sound, old but clean, good locations with lots of restaurants nearby. And price is super affordable for a room with private bathroom. Staffs are very friendly and supportive, helped me with the luggage storing for 2 days when I went to Cradle mt.

Accommodation in the stables at the rear of the property was off the main thoroughfare so there was no traffic noise. The room was incredibly big, the beds were really comfortable & there was free parking on site. It is less 'hotel' and more self contained apartment accommodation. In saying that, it was a lovely stay however after previously staying at Peppers Silo in Launceston, it is definitely not as luxurious.
