San Juan del Cabo is a cute, safe, touristy town. Everything was very expensive in the downtown area. The food was good everywhere we ate, but prices were comprable to the airport. The beaches are lovely, but most areas are not safe to swim. I rented a car, but wish I had not as I was ultimately charged double what I was promised online, parking was difficult to find, and Ubers were plentiful and affordable. I was pleasantly surprised how polite the local drivers were. The locals were polite, friendly and helpful.

Nice climate but we found it chilly some nights (Mid March) Quite expensive especially for wine unless you buy it at the supermarkets i.e. Chedraui, La Comer etc. then only 90 to 100 pesos for a decent Chilean Cab Sav or Merlot.
Not a lot of night life unless you are into ear drum destroying night clubs.
The ocean is not for swimming due to the rip tides.

Businesses on the front road Calle MANUAL DOBLADO are...
Businesses on the front road Calle MANUAL DOBLADO are excellent, from breakfasts at the French Riviera to .. there's an excellent massage (facials too) place just up the road CAPRICHO,, t's perfect! To stay tacos El FOGON And I have to give props to the most delicious Italian restaurant we went to twice there's something about Their Caesar salad and I'm pretty sure the pizza's and pasta all homemade sauces, incredible wine recommendation.. is Petros down in the tourist art district. We loved the festivities, the fireworks were the best we've ever send in our lives, the love music in the plaza, the exceptional friendly kindness of the people.. the marina! The beaches! Old Town charm! Except it's sad to see that the Tropicana is under perpetual remodel and takes away from the original character that it always had been so don't do that no upgrades keep it original... Keep the Old Town charm keep the franchises out of it no Little Caesars no Subway.. Don't let the foreigners buy anything. Don't let the foreigners tell you what to do keep your festivities up until 3 AM if you want to... Keep doing what you always have done and just don't change it's perfect the way it is

We wanted to visit San Jose for a day before heading down to our time share ( of 20 years) in Cabo San Lucas. We liked the center of the town, the main street is full of local charm and small businesses, There is a stage on the main plaza with the old church and in the evening we saw dancers in colourful costumes. There are plenty of small stores and family restaurants, souvenir and food distractions.
We recommend tourists stop at San Jose on their way down to the big sophisticated resorts and immerse in the real atmosphere of the local culture.

In my Mexico experience, San Jose is a "high end"
tourist village,,,,, just what I expected,, considering all the
resorts. It is not "my" desired Mexico experience, but, I had to
visit once..If you wander away from the resorts, you can find
some real food, and local events.

I love super cool little boutique hotels like this that are run with pride by the owner. Marisol and her staff were very warm and welcoming, and went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. This place has charm, character and soul, and is in a perfect location 2 minutes from the beach and close to shops and restaurants. If you’re expecting the luxury of the Four Seasons, it’s not here, but everything is clean, comfortable, functional, and done with taste and style. It is excellent value for money!
Its my second time in this hotel, I love it here, it feels just like home and literally a beautiful setting just near the beautiful church and centre of san jose del cabo. All restaurants and top spots are a few steps away. Staff are nice especially Alejandro very helpful, place is clean and very good priced for a wonderful safe location. Internet was fast too. Good kitchen with ample space to meet other travellers.
Definitely the best budget hotel with the best location of San Jose del Cabo.
We stayed here when our flight was cancelled. A shuttle picked us up at the airport and the ride took literally just a few minutes. The room was comfortable and the restaurant was decent, with food and drink costing less than half the price of restaurants at the airport. Because our rescheduled flight left early next morning and there were quite a few other stranded passengers, the hotel opened it's restaurant for breakfast at 05:00, two hours early, which we really appreciated!
Everything.. this is a Small and Beautiful boutique hotel with stunning views.. very relaxing and quiet, the service was excellent, everyone is super helpful.. gorgeous views.. the restaurant is located in front of the sea with an amazing menue. If you want something romantic and beautiful choose this hotel. You can also go to the restaurant next door at their sister hotel Grand Vallas and enjoy the most amazing service and food with 20%
Charming familiy run hotel in the historic district. Very nice interior, the patio with lots of plants and a fountain. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. Good bed.
The hotel management was extremely helpful and friendly; thank you Paulina. I would have liked to stay longer.
The hotel does not offer breakfast. One has to go next door to the French Bakery which offers a good variety of breakfast.
lovely, peaceful hotel right in the middle of the San Jose del Cabo art district. Fun pool with a warm waterfall. Large rooms with patios with hammocks. one of the best restaurants in town Mi Cocina is located at the hotel. We had our 30 lb service dog with us snd stayed in the. Eclipse suite which was perfect, away from all the other rooms and had grass areas for her to do her business. Parking is available.
Fabulous boutique hotel with a really cool/arty feel to it. Staff were very cheerfull and very helpfull. Setting is great and definately hop on the boat over to the beach club for the day (literally 2 mins) . It's only 25 mins to SJD airport. Uber's were readily available. Rooftop infinity pool has great views out to sea and over the marina where pelicans and sea lions play with great margaritas too.
We like to come into San Jose del Cabo for a night or two and stay in/near city town center. We use to stay at Tropicana and now that it’s closed we found this place and absolutely love the location. Love the French bakery next door. The hotel was quiet and clean and for the price we have no complaints. We had a truck and they have underground parking.
Very peaceful environment!! I especially loved the beautiful and authentic Mexican decor and colors throughout the hotel. The beds were super comfy and felt very clean. I loved the sitting area outside the room. It felt very spacious. The breakfast was very delicious!! I will definitely come back here!!
I just started for one night but really enjoyed Desert Heart Hostel! It's located right in the center of San Jose del Cabo, and the staff were lovely. The bed was comfortable, only complaint is the lack of hot water (one shower is cold, the other was tepid). But I'd stay again!
We enjoyed the various pools on the property. There were several to pick from. Most guests get up early to save seats. Cabanas were available on the beach and around the pool for no additional charge. The hotel was super clean and housekeeping did an excellent job.
Great location off main highway, beside a Scotiabank, across from a Walmart and Soriana and a few minutes drive or feasible walk to Centro. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bus from the airport stopped right outside of the hotel.
Easy location, Convenient, close to the downtown area of San Jose del Cabo.
Quick check in, clean rooms, quick wifi, a great option if you have an early flight out of Cabo the next day and want an affordable stay.
