Hamburg is famous for its local dishes, the Birnen, Bohnen and Speck, the Aalsuppe and the open-faced sandwiches with cold-smoked or pickled fish. The laid-back cafés of Schanze neighbourhood and barbecues on a beach along the Elbe River are great ways to relax after heavy sightseeing.

This is such a great city. It was much more beautiful than I expected, easy to get around, lots to see. The harbour area is amazing.
We didn’t have enough time to see much but hired bikes and did a self guided tour.
It did get quite windy at one point!

Excellent harbour and such a clean and tidy city.
Loved taking the cruise which lasted 90 minutes.

Hamburg is not just a huge port city.
Hamburg is not just a huge port city. It has some beautiful canals, a lake and magnificent gardens as well as very special historic buildings, many constructed from red clay bricks. The Elbphilharmonie building is spectacular and is free to go up to the plaza level - halfway up the structure - for wonderful views over the city and port. The galleries are top class and the Portuguese quarter had some great restaurants. The SBahn and UBahn trains are easy to navigate and there are numerous boat tours of the port and canals. And I was only there for 2 days!

Hamburg is a beautiful city, enhanced by the friendliest people. We stayed at the Crown Plaza Alster, a picturesque part of town with the most beautiful greenery and flowers. Exploring the city on foot was the best option. It allowed us to see the sights and taste local cuisine and drinks. The Hop-on-Hop-off bus tour was however not worth the price. Be aware that there are various bus lines/routes and your ticket is purchased for a particular route. A visit to the City Hall is a must. Don't forget to go inside. My favourite restaurant was Opitz - excellent food, atmosphere and service. My favourite takeaway was Ali's Gemusekebab in the main mall and for sundowners and a meal, you must visit Anleger 1870.

Hamburg is Germany's second city, and the port covers apparently ten percent of the city footprint, so maritime topics are very much a part of this city. The people are very friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised, that they say good morning to you in lifts, and if they sit next to you on a park bench! The city is very easy to get around, as the metro works so well, and the railways station has connections to so many places! In spite of being such a busy city, it doesn't feel overcrowded or stressful at all, and has lots of open spaces. I would love to go back!

If you are coming to Hamburg from another German city by train it is closer from Koeln. Otherwise it's better to arrive by plane.
Hamburg is a city for people who have interest in harbours & ships.
There were more local than foreign visitors.
If you would like to visit the museums as well - it's better to have 2 full or 3 days.
Rooms are good. They need a bit of update, though. The shower too (so it won't spill water outside of the shower).
The rooms we got (upon arrival and leaving Germany) although not up to date, in terms of furnishings, were high above, and we got a really nice view of the city (towards the museum, Hauptbahnhof). And location is great. Very useful to walk around in Altstadt, but also to reach for example the airport with public transport.
The hotel is located very close to public transportation, and in a very central location in Hamburg. It is easy to get to the airport or the main train station from there. My room was rather spacious, considering it was a single room, and the bathroom had every amenity I wished for. The breakfast was also typical of what one finds in Germany, with a lot of variety and of good quality. The staff was also very nice and helpful.
The Deutsches Haus is a great hotel. The location is very good, just outside Hamburg in a quiet village. Very good if you're traveling to Hamburg by car or van, but don't want to get stuck in the city with its parking issues. Safe free parking on the premises. The rooms are a good size, bathroom was a bit small, but functional. Breakfast was good! But best of all: the staff is super friendly! I highly recommend this hotel!
THE GEORGE is for sure one of the best boutique style hotels in hamburg. in combination with it`s restaurant / bar "da caio" it offers a incredible combination. this bar is the hot spot to be on weekends with a stylish atmosphere for excellent cocktails and fantastic food selection. and the location just steps away from the "aussenalster" , a beautiful city central lake is simply stunning.
Cheap hotel within few hundred metres from the Hamburg airport - a convenient option for an early morning flight.
There is a nice sidewalk all they way from the airport. It is best accessed via ramp from the departure level of the airport building (I mistakenly used much less convenient way from the arrivals level at first).
Complimentary bottle of water was a nice touch.
The hotel is in a sensational location, not far from the centre, with which it is very well connected, yet in a quite secluded setting opposite a lake surrounded by greenery. An ideal place to relax, but also as a base for exploring Hamburg. Very helpful and communicative staff. Rooms with stylish interiors. Tasty breakfasts with options for everyone.
I was looking for a simple yet comfy place to stay during a weekend spent exploring the city of Hamburg. The hotel suited all my needs : clean, comfy, cheap, with a nice breakfast and close to everything ! The staff was also very nice and I was offered a free drink upon arrival.
Being a chain hotel, the hotel was what I expected. Good and strict conformity with Covid protocols. It is free to park your car in the side streets close to the hotel.
Quite a long walk into the centre of Hamburg, but there is an S-bahn station within about 5 minutes walk.
This former school has been greatly renovated as a hotel. It is close to the metro and the centre of Hamburg is reachable in 15min. The breakfast is great, the staff incredibly friendly. The location is quiet at night, and parking is easy for both cars and bicycles.
Perfect Hotel for a short stay in Hamburg if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the accommodation and still have a good location for the public transportation or to walk in the city centre.
The room for three persons is also big enough and comfortable.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff and ideal location in the centre of Hamburg. The room was very quiet and the curtains meant it would be very dark (if you wanted) for an ideal night’s sleep. Kids having their own bunk beds a real bonus.
It is a nice and cosy hotel, located in St Pauli neighborhood close to Hamburg city centre. Check in, check out and the other procedures are done by the guest himself.
It is clean, warm and quiet. Furniture is new, but very basic.
Very clean and organised hotel. Quirky design and accommodating staff. A street away from Reeperbahn you're close to the action but not in the middle of it.
Cheap price in June, perfect choice for a short Hamburg trip
The hotel is in a perfect location close to the Hamburg central station with excellent staff and cleanliness.
The rooms are spacious with an amazing bathroom and modern design. The breakfast is delicious!
A great location right opposite the central train station.
The room and public areas were clean, the bed comfortable and the shower nice and powerful.
Breakfast was amazing as it normally is in Germany.
Interesting location outside Hamburg, but still near with the ferries. I could not cast from my Android to the television set. About 50 Euros by taxi from Hamburg centre to the hotel.
Excellent location. You can get the train from the airport directly to Hamburg Centre. The hotel and shopping area are 5 mins walk away from train station.
