Ypres has something for everyone. The restaurants have a variety of culinary options for every taste. Bars are friendly and comfortable with indoor and outdoor seating for drinks, a coffee, snacks or meals. Bicycles for hire mechanical or electric allow a visitor access to the countryside free from traffic and ease of viewing around the town. Tourist information in the Cloth Hall are very helpful and friendly. The historical buildings and the green environment really add towards an air of peace. A special treat is a walk along the town walls. Parking in the Market Square is not a problem nor overnight parking either. Don’t park in the Square on Friday night as there is a Market on Saturday and your car will be towed away. Shopping is a delight with supermarket, chocolate, books, fair trade and clothing all within walking distance of the Square. If Commemoration is part of your visit the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony each evening at 8 p.m. is very moving and an experience different from all others. Ypres is a gateway to Flanders: its people, its green environment, cycle paths, surrounding historical monuments with visitor centres throughout the countryside and its delicious foods.

We were a group of friends, we visited local war graves and stayed for the Last Post at the Menin Gate, which was well done and very respectful (although you need to get there at least 1 hour before the service to see anything). We do intend to visit again to explore the region further.

Ieper (Ypres) is an ideal base for exploring WW1 sites & cemetaries. The historic Cloth Hall contains an impressive museum and if you go it's worth paying the extra few euros to climb the 230 steps to the top of the bell tower. The views of the city are impressive from here.
The Last Post Ceremony every night at 8 pm is a moving and thought provoking tribute. It's a must if you can make it.

Ieper holds a horrendous history when it comes down to the tragic loss of life.
But on the other hand it has a sense of peace when you walk around.
The battles took place 108 years ago, so its good that there are still preserved sites to visit that this is never forgotten.

Ypres is a wonderful experience.
Ypres is a wonderful experience. Visit Menin Gate at 8pm each evening and hear the last post played for the fallen of the Great War.
On a Monday most shops and all restaurants and museums are closed.
This is a lovely B&B, centrally located in Ieper - only 10 minutes walk from downtown and the Menin Gate. Parking available. The room is very well appointed, the bed is comfy, and the air conditioning works! We did not include breakfast in our stay so I can’t comment on that. Everything is very clean and neat! There is a narrow staircase to negotiate, but we had no trouble. Franky is a wonderful host, who was available to help with restaurant suggestions and sightseeing options. Ieper is a beautiful city that is well worth a visit!
Communication with our hosts, in English via Whatsapp, was friendly, quick and easy. They provided a few fridge staples on arrival (including beer) which is a nice touch.
The apartment is big, airy and very well equipped. There are two separate bedroom suites, both with a large walk-in shower and toilet. It has underfloor heating with separate controls for the beds and living areas, which is excellent. The location for Ypres is superb - less than 5 mins walk to the Menin Gate and Market Square.
The staff are very friendly and always helpful. I have been to the Ariane around 4 times and I have not been since the resent renovation. The rooms are spotless and modern. The beds are phenomenal and I love the fact the Ariane gives you the manufacturer’s details if you want to order it yourself. Parking is great and the hotel is located excellent to walk into Ypres town centre and the hotel staff give you a booklet full of discounts for all the tourist attractions.
Nice clean hotel with nice garden to have a picknick. Also very easy to park your car and even a safe place to keep your hired bikes for some days. Breakfast was also very tasty. For people that want to have a good walk, you can also walk to the center of the city in a small hour. If good weather you can also easily have your breakfast outside in the morning sun. In the room you can easily put the window open without to be afraid for musquitos.
This boutique hotel is a little piece of heaven on Earth. We were greeted by our very lovely host, shown our luxurious and uniquely decorated rooms, and offered a welcome drink. We didn’t want to leave the hotel but eventually left to explore a bit of the town. The location was just a few steps from the centre of Ypres/Ieper. The breakfast in the morning was most certainly the best breakfast we ever had. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Fantastic bnb that you can explore Ypres from by foot! Close to the bus station and main centre of town. Owners are very friendly and The entire premises was clean and well maintained. The room felt like a hotel and was incredibly comfortable. The host also offered plenty of information on what to see and do in town and how to get around. The breakfast spread was fantastic!
Low price for the centre of Ypres, but very tired around the edges. Also, on a Friday night, the market square was very noisy. Hotel owners obviously can't change that, but something to be aware of. Top floor rooms had limited roof height and were fairly cramped. Receptionist was friendly. Could be more, but obviously catering to a price.
Perfect location, a moments walk from the Menin Gate and only a few more to get to the Market Square (Cloth Hall and cathedral etc). The host is brilliant. He has created a real experience for his visitors in this house. It’s full of WW1 memorabilia. He ensures his guests make the most of their stay in Ypres.
A simple, straightforward hotel with good, free parking on the premises. Quality breakfast. Rooms were functional and quite. Great value for money, you get exactly what you see. Staff super helpful and very friendly. Perfect as a base camp for exploring surroundings of Yper.
Lovely, lovely place in Ypres. Quiet location. Very clean and comfortable. Narrow, steep stairs to the rooms like everywhere. Big and tasty breakfast. Inga was very helpful with parking, she made sure we could leave our car on the street for a few hours after we checked out.
Made to feel very welcome by the staff. The hotel is ideally situated for a very short walk (2 minutes) into the centre of Ypres. The hotel is very comfortable and the breakfast is first rate. Will definitely go back when visiting the Ypres salient next year.
Very nice breakfast with freshly fried eggs and bacon. We wanted to book an extra night, this was no problem and we could stay in the same room. We traveled by motorcycle which we could park in front of the hotel, which was no problem at all.
Perfect. Nice quiet little hotel in a quiet part of town but not too far from all the sights in the centre (took me about 10 minutes to walk to the market square). Lovely staff, lovely room, nice breakfast and all in all good value.
Excellent location, right off main square. Decent accommodations, rooms were quiet and spacious. Breakfast had a little of everything - nice large breakfast room and wifi throughout hotel was very good.
The Albion Hotel is perfectly located in Ypres. It has a brilliant secure car park at the rear. It is a family run jewel which exudes class with fabulous caring professional staff
The landlady was excellent and hotel placed only a short walk from the centre of Ypres.
Plenty of free parking in the street so no hassle trying to find somewhere to leave car.
