One of most beautiful village in the world. It is just 2 hours plus away from Salzburg. You can plan a day trip. You will get best scenery and it is like childhood fairy tale place. I must praise I have a good dining experience in Simple 169. The owner is so friendly and food is good. Preferable if you can spend one night with light luggage. So that you can take photo with less crowded moment and take an unforgettable 7000 year old salt mine tour plus skywalk visit.

Loved the amazing views around Hallstatt.
Loved the amazing views around Hallstatt. The salt mine tour is definitely worth it. The views from above are just spectacular overlooking the mountains, town and the lake. Just strolling through the streets everything was so quaint and beautiful. A visit to the church and bone haus is a must its amazing to learn the history.

A beautiful enchanting fairy tale town.
A beautiful enchanting fairy tale town. Set on a lake framed by mountains.
It is very small easily done in a day or 2.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced
Salt mines worth doing 100% but give yourself a few hours as so much to see at the top!
Only down side shops and cafes open late … 10-10.30 am and close around 6.30-7 in the winter we got caught out with nowhere to eat or nothing to do in the evenings

A perfect place to visit with family.
Beautiful lake, landscapes views, snowy mountains and salt mine tour.
Hallstatt is really small and can be walked around comfortably.
Connectivity with Salzburg is easy by bug #150, 542 and 543 in around 2.5 hours.
Tip : Hallstatt old town is costly, relatively cheaper accommodation can be availed in nearby places like Obertraun.

Hallstatt is completely overrun by daytime tourists who just want the quintessential photo of the town. I could have had the same mountain lake experience by staying in a nearby town (and then not having to leave my car in P1 parking then being shuttled to the town).

WAY too many tourists!
WAY too many tourists! Hard to walk around and also find a spot to eat! One night is plenty! Gorgeous town though and easy to get around. A lot of day trippers that once their buses left, the crowds cleared out tremendously.
It turns out that my single room had a small balcony overlooking the lake, and the view was fantastic !
Cosy idyllic room.
Comfortable bed. At night it was very quiet.
Close to the boat pier; the town square was just outside the property.
The buffet breakfast - Definitely it can be comparable to the one offered by a 5-star hotel; but it has all the basics expected of from a small guesthouse; and its coffee is simply excellent!
Accommodation in Hallstatt is always in tight supply; and with only €69 for one night is really a great deal.
This Hotel has been done very nicely, It is located at the banks of the Hallstatt Lake with its private bank. The view of the lake from each room is so beautiful. It was beyond our expectations - as it is difficult to visualize the property from the pictures in the website, The atmosphere is quite and in the evenings it provides peace of mind by just watching the lake from the balcony. Car can reach the hotel doors. There is a microwave oven and a OTG in the common area. Cofee machine is also avaliable for unlimited coffee
The hotel is in the center of Hallstatt, 100 meters from the ferry pier connecting to the railway station across the lake.
The room we stayed in, on the 2nd floor, had a balcony overlooking the lake with a table and two chairs. The room was cozy but somewhat cluttered, with too much furniture for the available space. The wi-fi connection worked without problems. The room was quiet, with no noise coming from the other rooms.
The breakfast was varied, and the service was friendly and attentive.
Everything. This beautiful boutique hotel is a true gem. Immediately you walk in the door, you feel the warmth and cosiness of the hotel.
The room we had (4) was simply fabulous, spacious, and very well appointed.
The host (& owner) was extremely friendly. He looked after us and all his guests with personal attention, both in the evening & for breakfast.
If you are thinking of visiting Hallstatt, stop looking further and book a room at I Da Mitt.
We chose Pepi’s because it was very close to the scenic part of Hallstatt (it’s ALL scenic) and within walking distance for my mom who has had recent strokes. Not only was Pepi’s right in the perfect spot, but also owned by the sweetest person in Austria! I felt like I was staying at my Tante’s house. This stay made me feel like a 12 year old girl in Europe all over again. MANY THANKS, Carola!!!
The location, location, location - 5-stars. The I da Mitt is located on the Hallstatt town square. The hotel was recently renovated to a 5-star accommodation. Our room is large with windows opening onto the town square. The breakfast food was delicious. Our host, Tom, is friendly and offered helpful recommendations for restaurants and thing to do while visiting Hallstatt.
This was by far our favourite accommodation during our trip across Austria. The house was exceptional, great facilities and amazingly comfortable rooms and beds. Location was also excellent, right in the heart of Hallstatt within walking distance of the town. Lovely touch by our host Julie, with some wine and chocolates waiting for us on arrival.
Being outside the crowded center of Hallstatt and close enough to visit the village easily.
Right at the start of the hiking and cycling paths.
Beautiful garden and grill facilities.
Quick response from the owner when help was needed.
If I would visit Hallstatt again, I would choose the same accommodation.
- The location of the property is great. It’s only a few meters in from where the bus stop is.
- The hotel is just few meters away from the Hallstatt funicular which takes to a viewing platform and Salzwelten Hallstatt above.
- The room was decent, had balcony with views of the mountains.
A wonderful hotel, beautiful interiors perfectly matching the Hallstatt atmisphere. The best location and a beautiful view from the window. The staff was very helpful. Everything at the highest level. Transport from the parking lot very efficient.
This hotel is in the most perfect location. The town is like a fairy tail. The hotel staff are warm and welcoming. The room we had was a balcony and the room was right on the lake. Wish I had booked more nights here. Did not want to leave.
It’s well-known Hallstatt is an expensive town. Yet, compared to other apartments or hotels in the area, Apartment Sophia is still the most practical to stay in. I think it’s an old house before, but it is clean and lovely furnished.
We had an emergency situation on our way to Hallstatt, and the hotel staff helped us a lot. The room was nice and big enough for two people. There was even a small garden/ground balcony. This stay was just a pleasure.
Braugasthof translates into Brewery Hotel. It is a 700 year old brewery converted into a hotel, situated right in the middle of beautiful Hallstatt. Property was kept with its vintage charm. Very friendly staff.
Everything is just perfect and I have a wonderful time staying in Pension Cafe Zum Muhlbach. Highly recommend this place to drop by for a lovely night in Hallstatt.
The location of the hotel is a major selling point. Located right on the lake it's beautiful. Our room included breakfast which contained a nice variety of items.
This is a cozy little guesthouse hotel and was perfect for our stay. Rooms were big and clean and the bed was super comfy. We loved it for our night in Hallstatt.
The room is spacious, the breakfast is delicious, and the host is warm and kind. The hotel is close to the parking lot, suitable for those driving to Hallstatt.
The best part of this hotel is the spacious balcony overlooking the lake. I hated to leave it to go into Hallstatt. The room was comfortable and attractive.
