Wels is only 55,000 people but it feels like a much larger place in terms of what there is to see and do. It dates from the 1100s and there are many traces of the Roman occupation, with hundreds of beautiful old buildings, nice gardens, excellent restaurants and for those who are interested, shopping. There are hundreds of mles of bike oaths leading out into the countryside and more hiking possibilities than you could do in a month.

This little town is well located on the Austrian side of the German Austrian border.
We chose Wels as our night stay town while travelling through Germany to Croatia.
It is easy to get around, the city center offers many dining and shopping alternatives.

Although, Wels has nothing special to see, you can do many things in the area. I would recommend to rent a car and visit the surroundings.
I want to recommend the Gösser Bräu on Kaiser-Josef-Platz, it is really a good eat.

Wels is easily accessible on the main Vienna to Salzburg railway line. Good facilities in town for hotels and shops.
The cities main attractions are the older parts of the town centre, the parks, walks by the river and small town atmosphere. A visit can be accomplished in less than a day.

Wels is a mix of the old and new.
Big industrial centre but also historical aspects.
Although a small historical centre the town has many charming features.
Such as the castle,, Stadplatz, churches, multiculti restaurants and the Muehlbach river with its ducks and fish and clear pure water.
Wels people are also very welcoming to strangers.
Clean, well maintained and modern hotel. I stayed 5 days in a suite with a kitchenette, I loved it. Bed (including pillows and blanket) was super comfortable. Shower had great water pressure. House cleaning was everyday, except on Saturday.
Great breakfast every morning from 6:30-10 am on weekdays (note it’s not part of the hotel’s restaurant that is closed on the weekends), 7-10 on weekends, totally worth the extra 15 euros. The restaurant in the hotel was pretty decent, we ate there twice. Free parking.
I live in Wels myself and therefore I didn't expect that the hotel in the middle of the city center would exceed my expectations.
The ladies at reception are very friendly and the breakfast also offers a lot of choice.
The hotel room is large with its own safe, refrigerator and its own small seating area.
The room was clean and pretty big for one person. Based on the reviews i also opted for the breakfast and it was excellent. The hotel is located in a quiet place the only problem are the parking spots (there are none available for free, the only option is the municipality paid parking under the hotel).
Hotel was under construction. Couldn't open windows (plastic covering entire window) and scaffolding. Room was extremely small.
On the positive note, very good breakfast and professional staff - thats about it. I won't book there. Disappointed .
Very good breakfast, rooms clean, modern and quiet. Large parking lot. Staff friendly. Fair price for the period/location. I fully recommend this hotel. Wels is a wonderful small city. Don't miss the nearby Zoo (very close to the hotel).
We were positively mind-blown. Hotel looks amazing. The room is huge and comes with well equipped kitchen. Beds are super-comfortable. Really liked "receptionless" system. Free parking right outside hotel. 10/10.
Very centrally located. Excellent location. Nice boutique hotel with comfortable and clean rooms, good breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Next time in Wels, Upper Austria, we'll stay at this hotel.
I love everything about this hotel. Good position, sparkling clean, parking spot always available, good breakfast etc I'm always taking this hotel when I'm staying nearby and it's always a pleasure.
Location was pretty nice. Having paring space in their own parking lot in the inner part of hotel was great. Breakfast was amazing and tasty. The room was perfectly clean and big.
