Hotel Marina Rio, hotel in Lagos

Overlooking the palm tree-lined marina, this hotel offers a heated rooftop pool (from 1st October - 30th April) and air-conditioned rooms with a furnished balcony.

The location was excellent. our room overlooked the back of the hotel and the bus station but was very quiet. We opted for a room wih no breakfast included but there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room so it didn't matter. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Everywhere was SO clean.

Hotel Mar Azul, hotel in Lagos

Situated a 3-minute walk from the Atlantic Ocean, the Hotel Mar Azul offers views of Lagos Bay and rooms with a satellite TV. The train station of Lagos is a 15-minute walk away.

Location right in the heart of the old town so excellent location for resturants and beach/marina. Staff were very helpful and friendly. WiFi very good, room had hairdryer, toiletries and TV.. Bed was comfortable and towels changed every day if needed. The kitchenette was great for putting food in the fridge and making a breakfast/cereal. Please note this is a budget hotel so don't expect luxury, however it is very convenient and I would stay again.

FAQs about hotels in Lagos

History and Sandy Algarve Beaches

With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.

King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.

Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.

The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!

Far too touristy with some base elements. Ok if you're young and carefree, but for the discerning visitor the brashness is too much. That said, I suspect that when the town is quieter, it's better qualities would stand out and be easier to discern.

Lagos is a beautiful old city with modern hotels and apartments outside the walled centre. There are plenty of beaches and experiences to be seen and a fabulous board walk on both Meia Praia and Camilo . Public transport is great with buses to most locations. The blue route links from Poto da Mos via Donna Anna to Meia Praia . There is an abundance of good quality restaurants , go for the more traditional small ones for authentic food. The marina has a good vibe and some nice bars serving food. The zoo is worth a visit and is on a bus route Ther is something for all ages in Lagos and the surrounding area

Lovely marina area with plenty of restaurants, the Lighthouse bar on the marina is good for food and reasonable prices. Old town has a large and varied choice of bars and restaurants. Good supermarkets. Easy to get around Ubers are cheaper than taxis. Seems to be a rise in the number of beggars mainly in the old town. Plenty of sea excursions available such as fishing, dolphin spotting and visiting caves.

Lagos is a lot less touristy than some other surrounding towns. There's plenty of bars and restaurants in the old town and the marina. Lots of beaches to choose from. On one side you have the longest beach with holden sands. And on the other, lots of small beaches in between the cliffs. Some can only be reached by boat or kayak. Top of the cliffs offer spectacular walks along the wooden paths offering breathtaking views.

Lagos is an interesting city, with a lively city center and lots of attractions and restaurants but also magnificent nature thanks to the beaches and cliffs of Ponta da Piedade. There are plenty of one day trips to go on nearby such as Sagres, Silves, Benagil, Alvor, etc.

The Infante Guesthouse is in located in the old town of Lagos. It is central to the restaurants and a short walk to the marina. The room was exactly as shown on their website. The entire guesthouse was clean, well maintained, and had all I needed. The rooftop deck had plenty of room to cook, enjoy a glass of wine, and socialize with the other guests, all while overlooking the sea. The host spent time showing me around property as well as acclimating me to the local restaurants, the coastal beaches and walk, and the bus.

Exceptional place, the owners are just amazing. Nadia runs the house with so much love that you can feel it in each bite of her amazing pancakes or in the smile she has each day. You can instantly feel at home, with the comforts of a 5 star hotel. The stay, breakfast, and location exceeded all of my expectations. The room was amazing, with my own patio where I could work or do some yoga completely private. Definitely the best place to stay in Lagos and will be back soon. Thank you so much for everything.

This is one of the best places we have stayed. Very welcoming owners of a family run hotel with an excellent location with views of the marina and the river from the terrace. It is a small hotel that has been tastefully decorated to a very high standard. The breakfast is excellent as is the location in easy reach of bus or train. We cannot praise the owners enough for running a hotel meant for people who do not need a TV in their room and appreciate peace and quiet.

The hotel is in a fantastic location next to Lagos Bus Station and opposite the Marina. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The rooms were immaculately clean, and spacious. We enjoyed the breakfast in the hotel which had a great selection of food and beverages. The hotel pool, whilst small is excellent and situated on the rooftop, which provides great views of the area. Would definitely visit again.

The room had a wrap around balcony with incredible views across Lagos and was perfect for our last night in Portugal. The hotels facilities were incredible, from the amazing dinner at the Italian restaurant, to the lunch at the bar and hanging out in the comfy lounge area, and especially the outdoor swimming pool and spa facilities. The breakfast was OUT OF THIS WORLD, so much selection of special food and friendly staff.

A lot of space in the room and in the common areas. Comfortable bed and a nice pool (perfect temperature). We also liked the breakfast. Another nice thing was that we received a free drink each for every day we skipped room cleaning. There is also a private beach and they provide a free shuttle to and from the beach. On the beach there are free sunbeds for hotel guests.
