This Building is 400 years Old and in all our Travels of 30 years we have never lived in such a Colonial Building. The staff compliments the story behind this Colonial Masterpiece and they were Excellent. Service, Quality, Food and Drinks. It was a very Personalized experience living here because the hotel only has 11 rooms. We booked the Suite which was very spacious, Comfortable and Beautiful.

Galle is a city with a combination of a Dutch period fort and beach with all modern facilities. Dutch Fort is a very live well, reserved place with excellent attractions and choices. Walking over the museums and art galleries located in preserved ancient buildings is an excellent experience. fairly good nightlife available with ample choices of fine dining. within Fort, they charge higher prices due to high tourist demand. yet affordable eateries, supermarkets and facilities are available out of Fort within walking distance. Also people in Galle are very friendly, professional and helpful .

Coming from a young Country (New Zealand circa 1840), but aware of Sri Lanka's varietal Dutch, Portuguese, British, Colonial Histories, I found the Buildings left behind by the long ago passing presence of these Nations, amongst the reality of present day life within the confines of the Galle Fort, an alluring, appealing and enticing cocktail of fortuitous personal experience, and would encourage all who might be so disposed and contemplating a visit, to definitely list Galle as a Priority, Not to be Missed...

They were very attentive and kind and cooked our best meal in Sri Lanka. Beautiful rooms and fantastic pool. I highly recommend staying here! We were right inside the Fort and steps to the cute little streets of old Fort Galle. The breakfast was amazing- a choice of a western breakfast together with a huge bowl of fresh fruit or a Sri Lankan breakfast plus the fruit. For the price the place is fantastic. We would recommend booking the larger room as the smaller ones are very small. The wifi is OK but spotty at times. Overall we would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

The rooms are beautifully designed with extremely comfortable beds. There are only four rooms so it's a very personal service. Halcyon is located between Unawatuna Beach and Galle Fort with easy access by tuk tuk. The food is delicious and we really enjoyed our time in the kitchen learning about Sri Lankan cooking methods. Highly recommend.
