We stopped to play golf, and to savour the local cuisine.
We stopped to play golf, and to savour the local cuisine. We were not disappointed. The course at Royal Perak Golf Course was in good condition. We enjoyed our afternoon of golf.
Earlier we stopped in town for nasi ganja. We were delighted with our lunch which was half the price of a similar meal in KL.
For breakfast the next morning we stopped at Hollywood and enjoyed fried kwaytiau, prawn mee and kopi susu.
Once done we headed out of Ipoh via Simpang Pulai. The traffic on that Tuesday morning was flowing well.

Ipoh city at least the area near the river is fairly run...
Ipoh city at least the area near the river is fairly run down. The park on the river is run down and litter is abundant on the river bank area. This is no surprise to me as its common across SE Asia countries. Walking around is not recommended in the hot weather, use Grab or other services. Forget the local bus service. The tourist spots in the old city are worth seeing but the rest is really you normal shops and businesses.
Crossing the road is tricky unless you are at a set of traffic lights. These are not so common.
I feel Ipoh has not a lot of charm, we tried hard to look for it. We did meet friendly people.
I don't think I would come back again to Ipoh.

Nice old town with much untouched straits settlement...
Nice old town with much untouched straits settlement architecture. In comparison, those in Singapore, Penang and Malacca have been preserved and updated. But you can still find original or close-to-original buildings in Ipoh. Food was great! Especially the street food. Notable must-try cuisine would be the Salted Chicken (may not be to everyone's liking), Stir Fired Bean Sprouts, Ipoh Hor Fun (a different league!) and Ipoh White Coffee (coffee with condensed milk). Worth visiting the cave temples (there are a few and they are not close to one another!) on the outskirts as the atmosphere is pleasing. Just googled 'Temple Caves in Ipoh'. If you have the time, go out of Ipoh to Kelly's Castle (a British style castle), the Tanjung Tulang Tin Dredge (a look into Ipoh's glorious past as a tin mining town) and Cameron Highlands (cooling & refreshing getaway from the hot tropical sun).

I love Ipoh because the food is great, the old town is easy and fun. I have friends there so it is different. I don't care for much of the rest but they are there if you want to do it. Make sure you have lots of space in your lugguage to buy your yummy snacks and gifts home.

This was only a short stop over for me.
This was only a short stop over for me. And it was mainly for food.
Had the Beggar's Chicken which was brilliant and the tau foo fah at Funny Mountain was brilliant. The one we usually went to (near Concubine Lane) was closed and we found this one at Funny Mountain. It was so good we went back the next day to have another go before leaving Ipoh.
Our morning breakfast was Dim Sum at Zhen Hi Hao which is brilliant. The atmosphere was great. It was not noisy like some of the other "so-called" popular ones. And the food is truly good. I highly recommend this place for Dim Sum.

Ipoh is nice place as in if you are seeking for tranquility and peace, this is a great place.
However, knowing which restaurants and shops to eat can be challenging let along affordability.
There are good places for sightseeing but I would come to Ipoh just to relax. It is suitable for a staycation
Tallest building in the area with the hotel name gleaming in red on top so you'll never get lost.
Great location, walking distance to all the popular food spots. Great hospitality. Complimentary parking. Room size was fantastic (probably due to the free upgrade I got from booking.com, TQVM). Clean, comfortable, quiet. One of the best places I've stayed in Ipoh so far.
A bit pricey compared to other options in the area but it lived up to its price tag.
Very nice hotel in the midst of Old Town Ipoh. The rooms are as advertised, with exposed brick walls, TV and bed. Our room had an ensuite bathroom, which had a brand new instant hot water heater that worked great. Clean and comfortable! The shared bathrooms in the hallway looked nice and well maintained (even though we didn't need to use them). Great location to for easy walking around old town or over the bridge to the new town.
Very clean and comfortable. Lots of space. Complimentary welcome drink on the 12th floor on arrival. Very courteous staff. Excellent location - 2 minute walk to all attractions of the old town - lots of eateries and the Hukka tin mining museum (not to be missed) and Tea Museum - very good too. Hotel is Opposite Ipoh Padang and adjacent to the Kinta River for walks on walking path.
I like the location, the breakfast is okay, but they should improve their fried noodles, fried kuetiau, fried rice, it's so sad because ipoh is well known especially for fried kuetiau.. i do love their roti canai, thosai, pastry, salad, fruits, and KOPI KAMPUNG.The staff from receptionist, housekeeping , maintenance at hotel so responsive and helpful during our stay 👍
The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable, excellent value for money. The utilities were very convenient as we were able to do our laundry and have everything dry before leaving Ipoh. Japanese restaurant is very good, but the best find for breakfast are the 2 restaurants in the same street as the hotel.
Hotel location has many options within 3min walk - local coffeeshop serving brekkie, lunch and supper; dim sum / hong kong cafe, herbal tea shop; Japanese and Korea BBQ restaurants. Old town or Ipoh Parade is only 5min drive away. Hotel has a moderately decent gym.
The location - nearer to the lotis, aeon mall and Ipoh uptown
The clean room
Nice and simple decoration
The functional of the every equipment and new
The enough spacious room
Water dispenser - coway is provided
Public parking just infront of the hotel
This apartment has a nice view of Ipoh.Clean, spacious & guarded well 24/7.Owner is kind & friendly. Not far from town hotspot & quiet neighbourhood.Price ia cheap & worth for a family trip. Internet ready with good coverage.Smart TV with Youtube👍👍
Good for short stay. Quite interesting from the point of view of modern classical art for hotel decoration. location is ok, 15min to Ipoh Town, and what I like the most is easy parking. I like the concept of self check in and check out.
we had a very comfortable dreamy stay in Bali hotel.
the massage was perfect
the room was very cleans and has a beautiful decoration. the staffs are very nice and friendly.
Ipoh Bali hotel is comparable to 5 stars hotel.
