We did a wonderful walking tour with an excellent guide which gave us a great overview of the city. We highly recommend taking a walking tour.
We loved everything about the Old Town. It was raining some of the time we were there and the beautiful arcades kept us dry.
We were lucky to be there when they had the light show on the Parliament Building which was magical. Hotel Akomo Bern was a very short walk to the Parliament Building.
We had dinner in two excellent restaurants - one Italian and one Swiss.

Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part.
Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part. The older streets with the arcades are amazing to wander about. Free public transport is such a good idea and allows you to explore further, such as Gurten, which is a really nice area to go for a walk. The walk along the Aare River is also lovely and can be done at any time of the year. There is a brilliant mix of city life and nature. Plus the Swiss chocolate is always good.

Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great.
Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great. Christmas market (chalet with Fondue) was nice too.
Also, in summer time, don't forget to swim in the Aare river (strong current can hold/push you). Go to Marzili Platz to enjoy it.
Really funny (requires some swim skills of course, not for babies/beginners).

Excellent place to ride a bike or take a walk. If you prefer public transportation look no further:) Bern, and Switzerland in general has excellent railway system.
Many things to do in the summer (I recommend floating down the river Aare).
In Winter if you are fond of skiing Canton of Bern offers many ski resorts in Swiss alps.

Bern is beautiful!
Bern is beautiful! We had two days there, and it was enough, but I know there are some activities just out of town if you want to stay a little longer. We recommend it for couples, families with kids and even solo travelling. The city is just perfect.

From where we are staying which is very much in the heart of the city, is very metropolitan. Heavily populated but safe. There are lots of restaurants and shops around. Trams and buses are accessible wherever you want to go. Trains are all running on schedule as all Swiss trains do. Bern is small but it has its own charms and the people are helpful and friendly. Nice place to visit.
Clean room, spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Breakfast compared well with larger convention hotel buffets. A Coop grocery store is immediately next door. On-site restaurant served tasty dinner at prices comparable to other Bern menus. Easy walk to train station, and literally right around the corner from the main street in the Old city. Staff was very helpful. Lodging comes with free tram and funicular access.
Breakfast was really good, had even warm food, which is not usual in Switzerland. Location very convenient, close to the old town, easily accessible by public transport, but also close enough to walk. Family/triple room quite small, but ok, usual Ibis. Street-side room was quiet and although we could not leave the window open for night, we still had enough air, ie room had good ventilation.
Very modern looking hostel(looks like a hotel) with very recently renovated facilities. Everything is accessible by a card including the locker which is cool and safe. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast is good. The common area is very well maintained. The location is great and the hostel gave me Bern card to access the Marzilibahn for the whole stay which is awesome.
Location near the river and in a more quiet area of Bern. The hotel staff is super friendly and hospitable. We loved the artistic/funky vibe of the place. It was so fun. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The highlight of it all was the host provided pool noodles and shared where we could float down the river. It was so fun and memorable!
This place was near perfect. In the Old Town with many restaurants, shopping, historical sites, train station close…and such a well planned facility. If this considered a hostel let all our hotel stays be hostels! VERY comfortable bed, plenty of room & seats, nice shower, great staff (Anika) and the hidden gem is a roof top view of Bern! ❤️
Nice hotel in a very quiet distrit in Bern. The bus station is just in front of the hostel.
As is típical in Switzerland you will get a transport ticket for bus and tram that covers the city center and the historical district.
The breakfast is also good.
I definetively recommend this hostel.
A beautiful old-fashioned hotel in the heart of the Old Town. The reception staff was kind and professional and the room was just what I wanted, clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable.
It's Switzerland so the prices are always high, but in the context ....it was good.
This was a very nice hotel in Bern. It was quite close to the train station which was convenient. The location was excellent, the room was clean and very comfortable. There was a bar downstairs which was nice to have. We would definitely recommend staying here.
The location is very good, easy to get into the city center. The facilities are very comfortable, everything you need is there. Only if you have your own appliances be aware of different sockets in Switzerland. The adapter can be provided at the hotel.
We feel safe in Switzerland in general but the numeric code for our room had to be typed in for entry to our corridor, so we felt extra secure. Although we did not cook in the room, the coffee maker worked well on the first try.
All great here - I love this hotel. A 20 minute walk from the old town or just a 7 minute tram ride, a great peaceful place to base your stay in Bern. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made some great suggestions.
Warm welcome, comfy room, coffee maker, location close to Wankdorf. And the name...fantastic. Breakfast: dont expect much but you also pay only a, for Switzerland, low amount so all good and nicely ready in front of room.
This hotel has everything I need & nothing I don‘t. The location, a 5-minute walk from the train station, is perfect for me, especially since I use Bern as a base for exploring the Alps. I highly recommend it.
It was a continental breakfast, but was all very nice and plenty of choice - its Switzerland so expensive, option to use the coop right next door is helpful to save a few pounds / CHF.
The room was clear, comfortable and we had all we needed. The wifi works very well and it is a very good thing because in Switzerland we didn't have internet connection.
The hotel is located near the old city of Bern. One can take a walk to the place and enjoy the beauty of the old city. The rooms of the hotel are large and modern.
Awesome room with kitchen. We loved it here. free bus pass for area was handy. Aldi across form hotel was a plus as eating out in Switzerland is pricey!
