Newark can easily be covered in a weekend.

Newark can easily be covered in a weekend. The National Civil War centre is worth a quick visit as part of the town Civil War Trail. A good range of pubs, bars and eateries and quite a few independent shops and boutiques. Elements of the town are sadly in decline but, with the river, it's still picturesque enough to explore and wander.

It was just a break of journey for us, but there are many dining options a short drive away. We were also told as we left that if we fancied a take away of some sort, we could arrange delivery and Shaan and Sef would set up a table for us to eat it there in comfort. We may well try that next time we stop.

when we arrived we were not very impressed , but after parking and having a nice breakfast we found the town square , then every thing opened up . It was a nice surprise to see what was the market place surrounded by shops . we also had a lovely evening meal in the Ram pub , the food was very good and the service could not have been better. We found that Newark had a lot of history and shall be going back to see more . Would recomend.

    Wonderful town to explore.

Wonderful town to explore. Great places to eat and drink and historic places to visit. Plenty of places to stay over and highly recommend the Newark guest house which although just outside of Newark it is only a ten minute taxi drive away. It is a beautiful place to stay.

We arrive in the afternoon so we needed to eat out but we found it very difficult to find somewhere to eat , everything was closed , especially on a Monday and Tuesday . We ended up eating in the Old post office which was just like a weather spoons, not nice,to the fact I Was up being sick through the night . Only grip .

Everything about my stay at the Newark Lodge was well above the standard I would have expected for the price paid. My host, Mike, was very friendly and helpful, he even met me at the front door! The room was of a very high standard, extremely clean and very user friendly. Wifi was super strong. Tea and coffee facilities were way better than the more 'commercial' hotels, the whole experience was great. My stay here will be one of those that will remain in my memory for a very long time, for all the right reasons.

Excellent value for money. Location superb for our needs. A place to rest close to the A1 with no noise. Breakfast was great with fresh fruit, fruit juice, plentiful coffee, tea and a cooked to order breakfast. No buffet breakfast here. Messaged ahead to advise the guest house of our late evening arrival time. Was messaged back straight away and they accommodated our request. The service is excellent and the lodge amazing. Far from a sterile, cloned room from a hotel chain.

Gail was the one who received me. She listened and helped me out with everything. She went to the extent of finding and booking cabs for me for every day i stayed successfully. Also, when i had to extend my stay she made sure to sort it out for me even though it was a fully booked hotel the next day. i cant thank enough all the staff for their amazing welcoming. the food was very good.

Fabulous location and was perfect for what we needed. The children enjoyed climbing the ladder up to bed. The children were allowed to feed the chickens and keep and egg! Lovely and peaceful place. Much better than staying in a big standard hotel room. Lovely hosts. Made us feel very welcome and we're very helpful.

Lime House is in the perfect place to get to the train and bus stations and into town. Andy, the host, couldn't be more friendly and helpful, and his tips for places to see were great. The extra space and privacy of having a house rather than a hotel room was great for the day I had to work from there, too.

A lovely little cottage, great location. It had everything we needed. Clean and feels fresh. Clean bed linen, pillows and towels. No horrible sweaty smells. Comfortable beds. Netflix was a bonus for children. Very quiet at nighttime better than some hotels as there was no guests to be heard.

Being in a good location to the Showground really helped us with regards to the Newark Antique Fair event. Excellent facilities for parking, especially larger vehicles. Food was really nice and being able to eat in three locations in the hotel especially outside on an evening really helps.

Exceptionally clean, it did not feel like we were staying near a main road in the middle of a town, due to the warm cosy decor and homely feel it was like being in a country hotel.
