Situated in the heart of the historic town, this hotel, built in 1893, is the oldest in Sopron. It offers a fusion of traditional and modern hospitality. Free WiFi is provided on-site.

I have stayed in this hotel regularly for 15+ years at least once a year. It gets better but the check out time now and cost of breakfast respectively are too early and a bit expensive.
Palatinus Hotel can be found right in the historical centre, close to the symbol of the city, the Tűztorony (Fire Tower) and only 100 metres from the Liszt Ferenc conference hall.

The hotel is well located inside the pedestrian area, yet close to the street parking which is free on the weekends and public holidays. Breakfast was also great and the coffee machine inside the room was nice touch.
The Hotel Lövér Sopron enjoys a peaceful location on the edge of a nature reserve, 4 km from the centre of Sopron. It offers a spa area with a pool, free Wi-Fi and free parking.
Hotel Civitas is located in Sopron’s city centre, a 10-minute walk away from the train and bus stations and close to the city's medieval monuments and palaces.

The location, the price, the food, the staff were cool
The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Sopron this weekend is US$101 or, for a 4-star hotel, US$135. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Sopron for this weekend cost on average around US$150 per night (based on Booking.com prices).

Most museums were closed and so we had very few options to do. Most shops were also closed. We still enjoyed checking out the historical architecture... the old town was really sweet, lots to admire. Roman remains, Renaissance buildings, Fire Tower, good coffee and good food :)

Sopron is a pleasant relaxed city.
Sopron is a pleasant relaxed city. We appreciated the relative quietness of the place and that we could wander around without bumping into crowds. The old town is charming, and the 'Healing Pit' (Gyógy Gödör) is a great pub/restaurant. The food and drinks are delicious and the service is very good.

I use this hotel every time I am in Sopron on business, average two times a year unless it is fully booked up. It is under new management ( I have used it for 15 years ). The one criticism of the hotel is that checkout is at 10AM whereas most hotels of this standard checkout at 12, and that was the case before the new management took over. Beware!

Nice town close to Austrian border.
Nice town close to Austrian border. The center is very nice, and there are evident signs of a great past (starting from Romans). There is not a lot to see, besides the walk around the walls and some visits to the Tower and the historical landmarks in the Fo Ter. One full day, for the center, is enough in my view.

I can recommend Sopron as the place for various activities.
I can recommend Sopron as the place for various activities.
Historical monuments - the town has nice historical centre with many old houses (in course of renovation), churches and town walls.
Wine and Gastronomy - Go to the Tourist Information Office and ask for the guide: there are very good tips for restaurants with traditional Hungarian cuisine. For wine there are 2 very nice winebars or you can taste the wine in wine cellars.
Nature - the starting point to visit Lake Fertö National Park
SPA - I would recommend the thermal spa in Hegykö (15 minutes by car from Sopron)
Really nice location. Parking possible at the location. Close to the historical city centre of Sopron - actually from the historical building itself :).
Building itself is really old, historical and nice. Rooms are really lovely refurbished. Matraces would be comfortable as well if wouldn´t be of older wooden bed frame which was really terrible cracking after each move of both of us. (Maybe just an issue of a room 102? :) )
Otherwise highly recommended.
Breakfast is simple but tasty and service itself is good :).
Our car broke down few minutes from Sopron, on our way to our Vacation at Balaton and ist was already very late in the evening and we needed spontaneously a room. We were very happy to find this accomodation via booking.com and our night was saved. Also the owner of the Appartement was immediatly available via Telephone and helped us with infos. For ist it was perfect for this occasion.
The apartment was beautifully decorated, very spacious and clean, and right in the old town center! The host left us a welcome surprise and gave us great recommendations for places to eat, while the kitchen came with everything you need to cook a good meal :) We will definitely be staying here next time we’re in Sopron!
Fabulous property and fantastic, responsive owner. Beautiful villas and pool! Super comfortable reasonably firm beds. Easy 10-minute access to Sopron by bus. A great lake for fishing within a 5-minute walk. Fantastic place to spend time with family and friends. Will be definitely coming back! Thank you!
Most of all: the friendliest staff I ever met! Excellent Hungarian food, and even people with gluten allergy are being taken car of. I liked the spa very much too. Wonderful environment and comfortable rooms for a very reasonable price. Nice, quite hotel, ideal for families and the elderly.
The hotel goes the extra mile : for chain prices, you get some old fashioned loving care: a Nespresso machine with two pods, two bottles of mineral water, a chocolate on your pillow in a spotless room in Sopron old town, and polite and lovely receptionists. Breakfast is good too.
A beautiful place in the heart of Sopron. This is freshly renovated , beautiful place ~ modern & rustic at the same time.
The owner of this place is very friendly and their breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend !

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to shorten my stay last minute, beyond the last delay in booking. They helped me and it was done in 10 minutes. Great location. Breakfast viennoiserie is made freshly in the pension's own bakery.
The stuff was very kind and helpful. They helped us to visit the most beautiful places in Sopron. Also whenever we called them, they were available to us.
It was a great pleasure to stay in this apartment.
The meals were excellent.
If you would like a quiet place to relax, contemplate, this is the place for you.
Sopron , Fertőd, Austria are few minutes away ..plenty to do! I will come back soon!
The apartment is superb, the owner has a great sense for styles, very practically furnished, clean and located close to the center, We will definitely go back when next time in Sopron! :)
