Breakfast was abundant, with multiple choices in terms of hot drinks, bread, and pastries. The dining room has a pleasant bright and beautiful view to the river. The girls in charge of serving were very attentive and kind. Everything was very clean an organized. Fruit was not available daily so I would only suggest to have a daily choice of fruit and whole wheat bread.
The view from our room was beautiful. The room has a comfortable bed as well as nice comfortable pillows. Everything in the room was nice , warm and clean including the bathroom.
The location is excellent. There is a beautiful waterfront where you can take a nice walk, contemplate the river and even have a surprising experience with the sea lions and other fauna. The hotel is located walking distance from downtown and from the famous River market- Mercado Fluvial. You can even take a solar powered taxi boat by a stop at the river near the hotel. There are several restaurants in the area and we really loved the Mesa Incognito Restaurant.

Many international travelers may think: "what's the big deal?" but this is a real university town with an incredibly rich history and a little bit of everything to offer-- that is, if you know how, and where, to look. The pub scene, between Calle Esmerelda and Isla Teja, is undoubtedly one of the best in the country, there is a strong and storied literary and cultured circle that haunts the many cafes and bookstores during the day, and there are plenty of places to shop and pass time, inside or outside. Many Chileans adore the city for the relatively high quality urban experience it offers.
If you're looking for a pampered luxury experience or world-class historic or cultural sites, you may be better off going to an all-exlusive resort near one of the many lakes in Chile's southern regions, or getting to some archealogical sites outside of the city itself. But overall Valdivians are community people, and rightly proud of their city. Most locals will be happy to tell you anything about their home; its relics from 16th century Spanish conquista, the 19th century German colonists, its near total destruction in largest earthquake in recorded history (1960), the Pinochet dictatorship, or more recent events. Many historical buildings and sites are better looked after in Valdivia than other cities in Chile (looking at you, Puerto Montt).
So, go to Valdivia if you're willing to put in a little bit of effort; get out of your hotel (though I would recommend staying in one of the smaller, locally owned bed and breakfasts), interact with people, ask questions, and find things to do. But if you are looking for a traveleing experience where it's easy to find things to do, and you expect things to be polished, clean, and orderly, this probably isn't the place for you.

Valdivia is a quaint Chilean seaside city with plenty of activity, We fortunately happened to visit during a festival on the riverside promenade so crowds were enjoying the nightly street performers, food, and artisan markets. The city has made its great waterfront a happening place with strollers, river boats constantly taking many around to surrounding sites, and excellent restaurants. We spent two days of fun activiites with the best boat 4 hour very economical tour of the historic river and an island village. Definiitely recommended for a two or three day summertime visit but book early since it is popular with Chilean families and foreign visitors. I(MO, the lower cost accomodations are suitable only for the backpacker class of traveller so be wary.

Valdivia is a beautiful City, with many activities. A trip to the Fort in Niebla is worth the $1.25 bus fare. Downside to Valdivia is the graffiti and vandalism to the businesses and churches. It makes the City feel unsafe for visitors.

The city is very beautiful and there are several parks and places for walking. I recommend renting a vehicle to tour the nearest lakes and tourist attractions that are not in the city. Be sure to try the craft beers, which are everywhere.

One of the most beautiful cities in the North of Chile.
One of the most beautiful cities in the North of Chile. People are friendly and super interested in ones well being. The beer and food at some of the places were totally out of this world and very delicious like the seafood and meat dishes on offer in the area.
A must is a visit to Cafe Hausemann to taste the Crudo (a raw meat dish with various accompliments . Then the El Growler and Bundor Pubs in the centre that makes some of the regions best Artisanal Cervezas/Beers . A bit out of town is the Kuntsmann Brewery for Valdivian Beers and some good german foods. (Das Guten Bier is their Slogal)
A visit to the Fort at Niebla is a must for every traveller and a good exposure to the history of Valdivia and the town.
We liked this comfortable, roomy, and clean hotel. The kitchenette was a plus and I was glad that I had made reservations that included the kitchenette. Again, this is another hotel where check-in is done via the Internet and/or App. This app was easy to download and it worked well. We had a problem with the WiFi in our room that couldn't be fixed quickly so they moved us into a different one down the hall.
The cabin is super well equipped with everything you can possibly use in a short stay.
The island is really special. We loved the long afternoons on our patio looking at the trees and birds.
The location is fabulous. It was easy to enjoy the best Valdivia has to offer and the peace and tranquility of the South all at once.
The staff is wonderful. They are very helpful and obviously love their islote.
Luz, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating. She kindly allowed us to leave our luggage in the hostel during the day before our night bus to Santiago, and even let us use the kitchen to make dinner before we left. The location was great, 10 min walk from the bus station and a 10 min walk along the river to the main market and where boat trips leave from.
Very good buffet. Very attentive staff. Went to the trouble of getting green tea. No annoying music or TV. Table cloths. View of flowers. Parking available and easy. Airport shuttle arranged efficiently, Beautiful front garden, flowers. Small park opposite hotel.
This little boutique hotel (6 rooms) has marvelous views on the river. Rooms are very comfortable, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent. Valdivia and Niebla are easily reachable by car from the hotel. I definitively recommend this hotel.
Great little upscale hostel on a residential street. We had a rental car and had no problem parking on the street. Easy walk into downtown Valdivia, and the breakfast was a nice plus. Smooth check-in, room was clean, staff friendly. Would definitely recommend!
This hostal is located just in front of the main bus station (Terminal). It is 2 minutes walk from the station. This hostal is perfect for any travellers which don’t have lots of time to enjoy Valdivia, or need a place near the bus station.
The hotel is big and beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are big very clean, the beds and pillow are good and the view from the island and the river are beautiful. The shower is good, clean, hot and water strong enough.
The host was very attentive and receptive, the place was very clean and comfortable, perfect for a multiple day stay while you visit Valdivia and its surroundings. The check-in and check-out were quick and easy.
We had a room with river and pool view on the second floor, the view was quite amazing. The location of the hotel is perfect if you have a car, easy to arrive and easy to drive back to the center of the city.
Very quiet compared to many other places I've stayed at in Valdivia. Nice property caretaker. Neighborhood felt safe. Space was very welcoming and there was a nice little common yard.
The location and facilities. The flat is located in the middle of the main attractions of Valdivia. It is a new flat with windows that insulate from cold and noise.
Breakfast was amazing, the staff was super helpful and nice people. The location was great for walking around valdivia. The value for what you pay is super high!
