Hampton Inn Durango, hotel in Durango

Located on Main Ave, near historic downtown Durango, Colorado, this hotel offers easy access to all of Durango's adventures and a complimentary hot breakfast every morning.

Breakfast was advertised from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. We went down around 9 am each morning. Both mornings there was very little food. Staff was putting what was out away. We did mention this to the manager however the cook refused to put out more food. He Stated he had fed the snow boarders and skiers. He was willing to cook more food if he was paid to do so by us, the customers.

    Durango was great.

Durango was great. The riverwalk through the heart of town is great - watch out for bicycles though! If you drive 2-3 hours in any direction you can see some of the most beautiful places in the country. North into the San Juan Mountains, East through the mountains to Great Sand Dunes, West to Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, and Monument Valley, and South to Santa Fe.

I lived in the Durango area for several years and had to move away. This was another revisit. The main attraction is the railroad. I have taken the Cascade run and it is a wonderful experience. I believe Durango has a good mix of acitivites for young and old. There are so many great restaurants and children appear to be welcome. It is a tourist town, yet I have always found that customer service is great wherever I go. There are galleries and books stores and toy stores. There is so much history to glean with exciting stories of the settlers and the miners in the area. Then of course, the outdoor activities are year round and endless. The mountain views are topped only by the ones in Ouray and Silverton in this area.

Cost of living went through the roof during/after the pandemic. Durango is experiencing a housing crisis. Stunning location and close to beautiful country. Spirit of the town has changed dramatically over the years. Spirit of the mountains and surrounding area is naturally the same. The town feels kinda fake.

A nice town. Touristy, but nice. Great Hotel, older, small rooms, but very nice. Very close to D&SNGRR depot, so very handy for us. Nice town, but, perhaps a bit pricey overall. But, we knew were on vacation, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel location to the train station is the best bonus. Also, we enjoyed having breakfast at Jean-Pierre Bakery. Love that place! We love the Victorian decor of the hotel as well. It is centrally located for shopping in downtown Durango which has wonderful stores. There was available coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby and the items available for our convenience in the rooms was also very nice.

Spotless!! Our suite was clean and fully stocked with anything needed for a longer stay. Plenty of outlets for devices. The linens were good quality and the bed was very comfortable. The hot breakfast was good. The young woman breakfast attendant worked constantly to clean, refill coffee, creamers and food items. Easy drive to downtown Durango from hotel.
