The days were hot and I wasn't able to walk as much as I would liked. The evenings were better to walk around in. The pollution from the vehicles can get bad during the rush hours and those busses are a killer!!

Managua is a beautiful city with many wonderful places to enjoy nature and delicious food. My favorite spots were Paseo Salvador Allende, Love Island, and Arbolario.
The transportation was easy and not expensive. I use the In Driver application. It works very well. most of the time.
Private Tours to other cities are easy to get for a very good price. I contacted La Lorita and I am very satisfied with them

It was a cultural wonder for me.
It was a cultural wonder for me. I got to see a few of the volcanos, surprised that one is active with smoke coming from it. Loved sampling the foods in Granada, tacos were different from what I've had before in the US, they were rolled & fried. Must try the plantain fritos with cabbage salad. Loved the views of the countryside & riding a horse as well as a caponera. For adventure seekers there is ziplining in Masaya and many cultural shows & exhibition all around.

Nicaragua as a whole, is an amazing country with so much nature and cultural experiences,
vibrant towns like Leon and Granada
out of time locations like Ometepe
remote last of its kind adventures in the Miskito Coast
stunning Pacific beaches with some of the best waves literally in the western hemisphere.
laid back Creole culture and post card stunning beauty on islands of Nica Caribbean,
However,,,,IMO
Managua is pretty meh.. Actually, really meh... and expensive.
The layout of the city is nonsensical, traffic is really bad.
There is no real downtown, or old parts. however, to be fair the old city was destroyed by a massive earthquake in 1972.
There really are not than many good restaurants given the population of the city, really not much to do or see here, (certainly in my own opinion)
If you are brave enough, wander around in the " oriental" - the largest market in Central America.
For travelers, Managua is mostly a hub for getting to other parts of the country,
To note: there is a minority Asian community of Koreans and Chinese and I have found that the Nica-Chinese food to be some of the best in Central America.

If you have limited time and can only visit one city in Nicaragua, Granada would be a better choice. The breeze from Lake Nicaragua makes Granada more bearable weather-wise, the streets are pedestrian-friendly and the interesting places are more accessible.

Managua is just like San Salvador, San Jose, small streets with too many cars on the road - I suggest you have a local drive you around as streets don't have names here and everything direction is described by a landmark -
The Wayak is a safe haven amid the busy Managua life...
Staff are very attentive and make everything they can to make your stay great. Fantastic Buffett breakfast with chefs cooking eggs any style. Very close to airport and they will help you organise transportation to/ from.
Huge swimming pool and very good size room with great AC. Would stay here again, it’s been the best hotel we’ve stayed in while in Nicaragua and the location is great.
Good business center with printer and great Wi-Fi. I had to take a call for work while staying here and facilities were great.
The breakfast was lovely with numerous options. The coffee was delicious and abundant. The pool was refreshing and the poolside furniture, comfortable. There are many intriguing little paths and the variety of plants and trees were interesting to see. We had just landed in Nicaragua and the hotel was happy to arrange a dinner for us after our day of travel. They also arranged a pick up at the airport.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel and until we departed the hotel the staff was very friendly and more than helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever been offered as complimentary. A full breakfast menu to choose from plus coffee, fruit and juice. Senor Pedro was the best host and he went above and beyond to help us with our needs.
Thank you Senor Pedro
My wife and I would give a 5 starts review; but the bedrooms do not have a/c connected. They are installed but not hook. The room was hot. Although the halfway had outside air circulating. The service is slow. The hotel is in the middle of "poor", risky neighborhood. We had a rental car; therefore we didn't walk outside. I would stay here again with a/c running.
I stay at Ecotel whenever i am in managua.
Its great value for your money.
The balcony suite is my fave!
Also the location is thee best, in between Metrocentro and Galerias, plus the fritanga spot at night less than s block away is highly reccomemded..
240 cordobas for Chicken, Gallopinto, maduro, salad and drink. Eat like a Nica!
Ecotel is still my spot
A fantastic hotel in the heart of Managua. I stay at Don Carmelo when I am in Managua. They send a vehicle to pick me up when I arrive and drop me off when I leave, regardless of the hour. The staff are very helpful and there is a small shopping center nearby to pickup items at Pali or La Colonia, as well as a pizzeria, etc.
I really liked the hotel the room was clean and everything was in good working condition the metrocenter was only 10 minute walk and the pool was so relaxing at the hotel I highly recommend this place if your on a budget and want decent place
Brian at the front desk was so awesome and friendly. The rooms were quiet. The grounds were beautiful. Very good breakfast for only $5 with multiple options available. Great location in Managua- do super easy to get to with private parking.
I like everything about this hotel. The rooms are great and the beds are comfortable but most importantly the staff is phenomenal. Eager to help and always accommodating. I stay here whenever I'm in Managua
Great location really not far from the airport at all. Claudia was super welcoming and the room was very comfortable, in fact I had one of the best sleeps on our travels. Would recommend Casa Robles .
Close to airport ($4-5 taxi). Basic comfortable room with cable TV and fan. Good value vs the rest of Managua. Neighbourhood is safe in surrounding area, but careful of crossing the freeway.
Probably one of our more favorite stays in managua and a great price for what you get. Very comfortable rooms and hotel in general with a small luxury apartment feel to it
Once you enter the place you realize that it's really an art gallery doubling as a hotel. And once you meet Carlos (the resident artist) you will surely be bowled over
I thought the property was great. Really comfortable and the best possible location for the airport. I would have rated this 9/10 if it wasn’t for the issue below.
Breakfast: best hotel breakfast buffet we ever had!
Very convenient location next to airport and excellent shuttle service any time of the day or night.
