Breakfast was great and the location is very central for my needs. Love the idea that if you're a group, there's a lovely private barbecue area and the use of a communal kitchen if you don't want to go to a restaurant.

Utterly breathtaking scenery. Loved the walking trails, and complimentary use of bikes around the property. Breakfast was stand out. Huge, beautiful spread with fresh fruits, pastries, etc. Staff were very warm and accommodating. Fantastic meal at Henry Whites and again, staff exceptional.

The property and accommodation was perfect.
The property and accommodation was perfect. It was just as what was advertised. The breakfast was well presented and good. The staff was very friendly and polite. If there was a negative it would be the toilet seat that needs replacing and also to ensure that all toiletry containers are full before guests arrive. Also there was no hand soap for the hand basin. Other than that we had a good stay.

George is a beautiful place with gorgeous picturesque areas but unfortunately I couldn't visit as I I was only passing through only stayed for one night. The location of this hotel is conveniently across the mall where you can go shopping have lunch or dinner. The lady at the reception also told us of other best restaurants we can visit in town and we found the best for our dinner their food was amazing 👏

Pathetic service, an absolute lie (4-star).
Pathetic service, an absolute lie (4-star). Will never ever visit this hotel again, and will make sure to advise others accordingly. In fact, will address this on 'Hello Peter' website to inform the rest of the world!!! Will also review on Booking.com
Shower leaking into the passage and bedroom. Basin running very slowly. Towels more than 10 years old, tattered at the ends and very thin. Toiletries not replenished at all. Uncountable amount of dirty stains on the carpet floor throughout the room, absolutely disgusting. TV loses signal all the time. WiFi signal is very poor. Kettle physically broken. What a disaster... definitely not a 4-star hotel, should be investigated for false advertising.
Manager not really perturbed by the complaints and doesn't really appear to be concerned by the ridiculous condition of the room, because the hotel is apparently "fully booked".
I've been to the Garden Route more that 15 years in a row and by far my worst experience!!

George is a city that MUST be visited by all South Africans.
George is a city that MUST be visited by all South Africans. George, along with Knysna and Plettenberg Bay are the most beautiful destinations in our country. The beaches are amazing (Heralds Bay and Victoria Bay) and the people are friendly. This really is the place to go to get away from the busyness of Joburg and get some decent rest.

Nice location, close to everything and safe area.
Nice location, close to everything and safe area. Come and go during the day and no need for assistance to enter property as you have your own code.Wifi excellent even during loadshedding. All the items you may have forgotton home was in the room to use. Not too many rooms and hot water no problem even it is fully booked. Nice garden area to relax after a busy, tired day. Very friendly dog that meets you on arrival and say goodbuy when departing. Excellent stay..thank you.
It has such a homely feeling to rooms and facility's available at DE PLAASHUIS, will recommend them to any traveler or family break away, the self catering option was fantastic as good family time around the fire the night made memories to last forever, look forward to my next stay there, PS: The TV in our room was not working, but with in minutes the owner Jean and staff member got it sorted for my little one to watch something before bed. EXCELLENCE IS ALL I NEED TO SAY! Thanks so much!
We had an amazing stay at this Guest House.
We were greeted by Jonelle who made us feel so welcome.
The rooms were outstanding! Spotless, big, comfortable beds with a lot of little extras.
The grounds were immaculate with a beautiful swimming pool.
Great restaurants are a walk away.
The breakfast we were given was 5* quality.
I would definitely come back here when we are in the area and will recommend anyone coming to George to give this lovely guest house a visit.
The advert for this accommodation is VERY misleading. It is NOT 13km from George but over 40km !!! My friends are from India and could not stay so far from George and make a daily commute as they had a full itinery. The owners of the place refused to accept that they lied about the distance in the advert and refused to refund us. But Booking.com acknowledged our complaint and refunded us a small amount from their side. This gesture was highly appreciated from Booking.com
Everything else was excellent - loved the stoep where we sat every morning with coffee and evenings with nice glass of wine. Lovely little garden. Never had loadshedding, because they have a backup generator. Wifi was fast. Loved the washing machine and tumble drier - really is a home away from home - it had everything we needed. Location was also excellent - traffic in George can get very congested - it was easy to get around town.
The Environment was excellent, easy to find off the York street. Quiet & safe. Neat and tidy.. Very Professional in handling of the Clients. Oohh I must say, Selma was very humble and patient with us cause we were a bit late she was still looking forward to Accommodate us.
Initially, I was a bit concerned about the distance from George Town but it really is quite close & easy to find
The unpaved road is in very good condition & never posed any issues for our little car.
Carla was exceptionally helpful & very friendly indeed
Hotel was conveniently located a 5 minute drive from the central George shops and restaurants. The room had all advertised amenities and was clean and comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the large balcony and the quiet at night. Staff were friendly.
Lovely place in a beautiful location. Didn't realise how much George has developed as a little town; it is exquisitely pretty.
Burrough place was so comfortable and SO clean and the staff, Dezzy, are amazing. I would definitely stay here again.
AsI used to live in George in my youth, I found it very satisfying visiting my old Home Town, but unfortunatly the one friend in our party has a snoring problem and an extra room would have been appreciated but no fault of the property.
We had a wonderful stay at Hanlie's. Quiet suburb on the side of George. Quickly to get to centre of town and was a great stay... Full kitchen and great facilities. Great braai area and great spot to enjoy with friends.
Value for money is excellent. It’s a boutique hotel in a central area. All the restaurants, petrol stations, facilities are around. The bed is extremely comfy for a boutique hotel.
Room was exactly what I expected, the last time I was at this hotel was 10 years ago. Yes they are undergoing renovations. Breakfast was good. I also enjoyed the Club house
