It's a great place to stay along the garden route.
The room was lovely with fantastic views.

The town looked neat and tidy and I love the old architecture and quaint buildings and cozy little shops. With my own transport it was easy to get around and find parking. Met friendly staff at all the shops.

Was quite surprised by the wine tasting opportunities nearby in Calitzdorp. The Safari Ranch was great, Cango Wildlife Park was exceptional, excellent managed facility. The Buffelsdrift Game Lodge elephant experience was a bucket list type experience. The Chandelier Game Lodge Buffalo as well as Giraffe experience was awesome.
The Total Garage opposite the quaint Nostalgia Restaurant are friendly and have decent wood that is affordable. The Spar is well stocked and there is an emergency Clicks Pharmacy that supports that requirement.
All and all a pleasant holiday destination with many activities to plan over the course of a week visit.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour.
Cango Caves - do the adventure tour. Conservation Centre - as ethical as sanctuaries open to the public can be, see a huge range of animals. Meerkat Tours - fun and cute but quite overpriced and the owner is horrendously misogynistic. Nostalgie restaurant - food was amazing, however park immediately in front of the restaurant and not any further - there are 'parking attendants' that demand money, and even after paying one the others come and intimidate you (banging on the car and throwing gun symbols).

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two.
Perfect place to stop over for the night or two. Other than that there is not much to do here.
You can find big supermarket for every day shopping. We eat at hotel restaurant as not much choice. A lot of powerful like in most places in SA, just got to be careful where and when you go out.
Well appointed rooms. I was in Number 3, self catering. Friends in the two luxury rooms. All had added extras and thoughtful touches. All requests were met with swift attention and nothing was too much. Special accolades go to Britney - what a gem! Best they hold onto her!! Staff so friendly, courteous and happy. Great lady running the kitchen - sorry cannot remember her name. Good choice of Continental or English breakfast. Gardens well maintained and pools (yes two!) clean.
What a lovely place! So spacious and with every convenience thought of. We were welcomed with fresh flowers beautifully arranged, a loaf of farm bread and a bottle of wine. Such incredible hospitality. The cottage also has lovely hot showers which we needed on the freezing winter evenings! We enjoyed a gorgeous sunset walk up the koppie above the cottage, as well as our trips to the nearby Cango Caves, Cango Wildlife Ranch, Wilgewandel farm and Karusa wines.
Amazing value, we stayed in a luxury tent and found it comfy but also serene and in a beautiful spot. So many different animals on the property and it's a great place to explore. Hot showers, comfy beds, and being on the ostrich farm was a lot of fun. Seeing the little ostriches were our favorite. Only about 15 minutes from town as well and close to Cango Caves. Breakfast/restaurant were good but not our top choice in South Africa.
We booked accommodation at Berluda Farm at the last minute and the host went out of her way to accommodate us. The cottage which we were allocated was clean and well appointed. The farm is situated in a very scenic part of the greater Oudtshoorn area and we had great views of the mountains from our verandah. I highly recommend the property to anybody seeking an overnight stop in the greater Oudtshoorn area.
The best thing about the property is the hostess Elna. She and her husband run the place with a lot of love for hospitality. This is typically why we prefer a bed & breakfast/lodge type of place over a hotel.
Apart from the warm welcome, Elna gave us some amazing information on the area and some sightseeing we could do. This made all the difference for our stay.
The property is buzzing with history and the staff was really friendly. I will say that the hotel has a bit of a spooky vibe, but I think the power outage due to load shedding may have contributed to the vibe. we booked on a whim and were so happy to find this gem. It was an experience of its own, but close to Cango caves and everything in Outdshoorn.
We loved the family room, neat and has all the neccessary kitchenware, cookware and braai facilities for the self catering unit. We opted for the breakfast option and we were spoilt, the breakfast was amazing. We had the most amazing view from our unit of the garden, animals and the mountains.
The property was clean and fully equipped for your self catering needs. The grounds are large and well maintained which was perfect for our son to stretch his legs and run around. The setting is stunning and the owners were very accommodating.
The hosts Daniel and Sonja were so nice and organized a table for Dinner at a wonderful restaurant. The rooms have colonial charme and the breakfast was amazing. If we come to Oudtshoorn again we definitely know where to stay.
It was very comfortable and the owners went to a lot of trouble to make us feel welcome. Our dog was also welcome and it was fenced, so it is realy safe for dogs.
Recommended self catering accommodation.
Check-out was expanded after the Meerkat Tour took much longer than expected. Meerkat Tour was very nice. Hotel is very classy and beautiful. Service at breakfast is quick and breakfast very good.
What an amazing place. Beautifull well equipt, awesome atmosfeer. Communication is tops. Well situated between Oudtshoorn and De Rust. We'll defenitly go again. Peace and quiet.
