Everything was very basic but there. Nice and clean bathroom. The breakfast was ok but you're better/cheaper of going to the local bakery.

A stately city just inland from France’s Mediterranean coast, Montpellier is capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, known for its wine production.
Place du Peyrou, the city’s highest point, offers excellent views and has a wide boulevard down the middle of its park. Its west end has a triumphal arch overlooking a pool and on the other side is a magnificent, 18th-century aqueduct running as far as the eye can see. To the north are France’s oldest botanical gardens, maintained by Montpellier University, one of the world’s oldest universities.
Rue du Bras de Fer is a narrow, medieval street with a secret sight through almost every portico, and another must-see is Place de la Comédie. This wide, pedestrian square is lined with street cafes and impressive buildings including the 19th-century opera house. Streets leading off contain high-end boutiques, while cheaper Montpellier shopping options are Le Polygone shopping centre and the huge Odysseum leisure and shopping complex.
Other Montpellier sights include the 14th-century cathedral and the Antigone district with its grand Neo-Classical architecture. Also worth a look is the Musée Fabre art museum, and speaking of art, keep an eye out for the brightly decorated trams.
Before leaving your Montpellier accommodation to go to Méditerranée Airport near the Cote d’Azur, sample some local seafood. The oysters are amazing!
Montpellier is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days.
Montpellier is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days. They seem to host lots of events there (there was a BMX championship on the day we visited). There's also lots to see in the old part of town. Seems friendly and safe (but we didnt go out after 7pm - just because we stayed in the hotel).

Vibrant city with a Mediterranean vibe, lots to see and do.
Vibrant city with a Mediterranean vibe, lots to see and do. Excellent Tourist Information Centre that recommended a brilliant walking tour (in English). Loved a free photography exhibition (with English captions!) in the Pavillon Populaire near the TIC. I went to a concert at the Opera Comique and enjoyed good food but, sadly, no time for the Museum Fabre.
For a change of scene, I took a train to the coastal resort of Sete - well worth 12 euros!

The historical centre is quite small and easy to visit walking from place de la Comédie. Very good possibilities to travel with the trams. A lot of restaurants of all kinds and at very affordable rates.
Parc Du Peyrou and the aqueduct is a must see. The cathedral St Pierre is to be seen, inside as well as outside. Botanical garden is very well organised and counts numerous trees and plants.

Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. Lots of "old Europe" feel to it - tiny winding streets, quaint shops, numerous cafes. Very easy to walk but it also has a good tram system. It poured rain on my main day there, alas! I'm looking for places to retire to and Montpellier definitely ranks on it.

I filled my time very happily with a couple of excursions and a trip to Lette but could have done it in six days rather than seven. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Public transport is now free! Frequent trams take you to the outskirts, then buses for onward travel.
Train fares vary with each departure, some cheap and some can match British ones. There were a couple of delays on trains, it is a bit of a wild area and one was delayed for three hours or more as a train had collided with a wild pig!

Very nice city for the ones who like old architecture.
Very nice city for the ones who like old architecture. So many beautiful squares, coffee shops, friendly people. The whole main area is walking distance with its narrow streets and so much charm. Worth visiting.
The location is absolutely perfect if you are visiting Montpellier by train because the train station is so close. Nevertheless, it is very calm.
Michel is super friendly and we were even able to check-in early. The breakfast had everything we needed and the bathroom was very clean. It was also interesting to talk to Michel and learning a lot about France - thank you! :)
We definitely recommend this place!
We arrived very early but were allowed to access parking immediately and receptionist advised us to come back an hour before official check-in, when indeed our room was ready. We had a very pleasant small terrace and our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. Although the situation looked unpromising the hotel was within easy walking distance of the central part of Montpellier.
The location was unbeatable, close to everything yet peaceful. Others have stated that the hotel needed an upgrade and it seems they are doing repairs however, the hotel is very charming as is. We found our room quite comfortable and adequate for our stay. The bathroom was a good size and everything was clean. The staff was arguably the best part - welcoming, pleasant, and helpful.
Probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. It was more like Alcatraz than a hotel. I appreciate it is a budget overnight stay but was still Euros 93 still not bargain basement. Food was inedible and nowhere else to eat as on an industrial estate near Montpellier airport. Time to pull these hotels down and start again - awful!
We stayed at the Marriott to attend the FISE competition in Montpellier. It was so convenient as it was right next to the competition and as it rained we could go back and hang out in the hotel lounge. Staff were really nice and accommodating, the breakfast was good, and the hotel had a good atmosphere.
Located in the heart of Montpellier Hotel offers the perfect blend of convenience and luxury. Its proximity to top attractions and vibrant neighborhoods made exploring the city a breeze.
the rooms were very clean
staff amazing, friendly, and very helpful.
I highly recommend this hotel.
The room was very clean, comfortable, spacious and my stay was very relaxing. Exactly what I needed for 2 nights. The breakfast was great too. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I definitely recommend staying at Hôtel Royal if you plan a visit to Montpellier!
This apartment has potential and good location as in, the tram station is just around the corner. You can get into the city centre within 10-15 mins on the tram. Lidl and Aldi within walking distance. Can get to the airport by tram.
Fabulous location. Outstanding service. I wrote to them in advance about our dairy and glute free allergies, and they had a lovely BIO gluten free bread ready for us —which was not the case in other similar hotels in France
Hotel Ulysse is in a great location very close to trams and place de la Comedy. The room was comfortable and very clean and the staff were kind and very helpful with suggestions about everything concerning Montpellier.
Across from the train station making it easy to get to other areas on day trips. St. Roch is a beautifully historic part of Montpellier. Bed was very comfortable and room had everything I needed.
We stayed in five hotels over two weeks in France, and this was absolutely the best: a great large spotlessly clean room with balcony, very helpful staff, and an awesome choice for breakfast.
Quirky modernised hotel with lots of updated technology - not easy to use. Comfortable and walking distance to centre of Montpellier. Quite as not fully open for the season.
Great location with an easy access to the historical quarter of Montpellier. The price was fine compared to similar hotels in the area. The room was simple but good enough.
Middle of the centre ville and a few steps from the train station. Modern with old charm and even private parking. Good breakfast and very quite for a great nights rest.
The hotel is very close to the airport shuttle bus stop. The sound isolation of the building removes traffic noise effectively. The wifi speed surprised me positively.
Location was amazing - at least once I figured out where I was in relation to Centre Comédie. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was kind and helpful.
