FAQs about hotels in Cork

Irish Spirit In A Nutshell

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, Cork’s city centre was originally built on marshes and many of its popular streets are constructed on the former river channels. With a thriving nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene, the Irish Republic’s second biggest city is full of surprises.

Those interested in history should pay a visit to the Cork City Gaol, an old prison transformed into one of the city’s most fascinating attractions, or join the Cork Historic Walking Tours, which offer a great opportunity to learn all the city’s secrets.

For those craving more lively entertainment, the city offers the famous Cork City Pub Crawl or even more exciting, the Barrack Street Challenge, where participants drink pints of beer in all bars along Barrack Street.

The shopping area is concentrated around the most famous street - St. Patrick Street. For local food specialities like crubeens, tripe and drisheen, browse bars and restaurants around MacCurtain, Washington and Oliver Plunkett Streets.

When flying to Cork Airport, you’re just a short taxi or bus ride from the lively city centre. Don’t worry about accommodation; Booking.com has plenty on offer, from convenient hotels, to cosy guest houses and bed & breakfasts.

Lots of hustle and bustle, there were a good amount of street entertainers/ buskers. A good selection of shops. The energy was great overall. I noticed a lot more homeless people than the last time I was there. A strong smell of pee from some of the streets.

We stayed in Cork because it was central to other things we wanted to see. That was a mistake. Cork is just a big city. Not overly pretty, not much to do. The English Market is very active and interesting. There are many restaurants and bars. We accidentally booked an apt on a busy street, and it was noisy all night. I wouldn't recommend anybody visit Cork.

The city is very clean and tidy.

The city is very clean and tidy. A visit to the stunning University College of Cork and the lovely Fitzgerald Park can take about half a day each as they are both so amazing. There is a public museum and cafe in Fitzgerald Park. There are many lovely views of the River Lee both in the city centre and around. There are lots of green spaces and the people were friendly. I only went for 3 days on a business trip but would have liked to have spent much more time there to see the other sights of interest such as the Blarney Castle, Cork Goal and Cobh - where the lovely coloured painted houses are. Two weeks in Cork would be ideal for me.

Great genealogy and family history day was held at the Cork County Archives. Very friendly staff and excellent speakers. I did not know this was an annual event that they held there and I would recommend it to anyone interested in genealogy. It was well attended and I understand it will be repeated next Thursday 18th April such was the demand for seats. I hope to return to the archives for research and to attend their annual family history day.

    The city was great.

The city was great. Lots of shops and places to visit nearby. There are many hills so bear in mind if your about travelling. The Old City Goal is up a huge hill so Taxi there and walk back (downhill) Taxis are cheap enough to use but some of them are cheeky with the prices. The weather was good for our stay but remember to take an umbrella as it often rains unexpectedly.

I booked this hotel months before our cross country road trip in Ireland not knowing what to expect. I booked off the ratings and comments of others whom stayed prior. Out of the 5 hotels we stayed at this was hands down the cleanest and nicest hotel of all. The location was a solid 10 and the price was unbeatable.I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who’s traveling to Cork. I would for sure stay again if I ever get back to Ireland. Side note- I fell in ❤️with this county. Most beautiful and magical place I’ve been 😊

Incredibly comfortable beds and lovely powerful shower. The hotel is centrally located, so easy to reach everywhere you need in the city centre on foot. Close to the bus station and not far from the train station. It was expensive but then so were many of the hotels in central Cork and we wanted to stay centrally - so not really a complaint just an observation. We were very happy with our stay. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, chose to eat out but the restaurant looked nice enough. Staff helpful and friendly.

Wow this is a stunning apartment right in the City centre and perfect for a romantic break. The apartment has every thing you need and it's finish is like a 5 star hotel. I could have watched the light show from the bathroom for hours😁 Also the little extras like bottled water, tea, coffee And even wine made our stay here one of our best yet. We will definitely be back. 5 stars....

The property was beautiful and in a great location central to the city. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The two ladies running the hotel were amazing and really made our trip special. The breakfast that was included was hands down the best breakfast we had in Ireland, it was amazing! It was overall an amazing experience. Can’t wait to visit again in the future.

This is a lovely, modern hotel that is centrally located in the city centre. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the bedding is comfortable. This has been the only hotel we have stayed in our three weeks in Ireland that actually had a bar fridge - yeah! This small feature means guests can keep drinks and snacks cold. The staff were lovely and very friendly.

As a family of 14 we stayed for 2 nights and the location was great, very convenient to the city centre, and if you're by car, they're a car park straight across from the apartment. It's walking distance to city centre so we were able to go out for dinner. Lucky because the dinner options in the hotel were terrible. The family room was big with a double and two singles. There wasn't much noise in our room - we were at the end of a corridor on the top floor.
