I visited the Farmers Market which was fun. I also had a takeaway meal of blue cod, oysters and homemade chips from Best Cafe. The meal was amazing.
I visited a part of the Botanic gardens which was lovely and watched a women’s rugby game at Opoho, just above the Gardens. We were treated to beautiful weather and a large flocks of wood pigeons!

It was very cold, but luckily it didn't rain and where we've stayed our heatpump was amazing. Dunedin is beautiful with very old beautiful buildings and lots of noisy students walking in the main streets until very late talking very loud and kicking rubbish bins.

We just stayed one night on our way to Stewart island as we have been here many times.
We did a trip to Port Chalmers as we hadn’t been there. It a a cute town with a working port. Worth a look and a bit of a walk around.
The hotel is right in Dunedin so we were able to walk to the shopping centre and local tourist sights. The pub downstairs was great. We ate one meal in the dining room and it was fantastic. Our beds were really comfortable and the rooms were warm (we travelled in winter). The bathroom was clean and airy with a big window which opened. This was a neat hotel which I would describe as "art deco" but this could be the wrong description. They also had free parking for hotel guests which was MUCH appreciated!
This is the second stay here for us. Both stays have been awesome. The motel apartments are absolutely huge and super comfortable. Motel staff members are super nice people. Even get some milk on arrival, newspapers daily and new towels and rubbish taken from the room each day. The motel apartments are definitely dated but that goes with the Dunedin experience and the apartments have character and the comfort factor. Extremely great value for money as very affordably priced compared to other accommodation.
The room allocated was very comfortable and spacious. it was very bright with a nice outlook. The staff I encountered were all very helpful and friendly. The TV had a good selection of channels including movies and sports. The hotel is a 5/10 minute walk into the main shopping/ eating area of Dunedin and 10 /15 minute walk to the InterCity bus stop in the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to travellers.
The hotel was well situated - convenient to walk into central Dunedin, and close to restaurants. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful - provided lots of advice about places to visit and where to eat.
We were also able to use the washing machine and dryer which was very handy.
Our bed was comfortable and the room well appointed.
Definitely recommend as a place to stay in Dunedin.
My general experience of New Zealand is that accommodations are overpriced and underachieving. Hope Street was quite the reverse. I wanted to stay longer, because it was so convenient and comfortable. Don't expect luxury, mind you, not at the very fair price I paid. But everything I needed and one of the few places I looked forward to going home to.
Quite possibly the very best accommodation we have stayed in, in New Zealand! We were in Dunedin to register our daughter at Otago University and the apartment was the perfect location and offered the perfect amenities for our stay.
Spotlessly clean, and with everything you need to make your stay a memorable one.
Although this hotel may more basic than what most folks would want, we found it to be comfortable, well run, very well located, and an exceptional value for the money. Also, the hotel provides free parking just across the street. This makes it an even better option for a price-conscious traveler.
The room had a wall-mounted TV with accessible and functioning HDMI inputs, and the free wifi was good enough for video calls most of the time. Both of which is more than I can say for some more expensive hotel rooms in Dunedin.
The hotel is well located in central Dunedin within short walk of shops and restaurants. Alaso well served by public transport. The location offers an easy stroll to see the local buildings of interest and the university.
Beautifully appointed in soothing blue-gray tones. Pristine, well maintained, modern, perfection. Loved the jacuzzi tub, monogrammed linens and bathrobes. Best hotel in all NZ so far. Loved our 3 night stay at BG!
Everything about the room and the hotel was great, location comfort, space, accessories for the room. Location to central district was great for walking to meetings, shopping, food.
Amazing location - view, cafes, restaurants, beach walks and the lane pool behind the Long Dog cafe. We got free passes to the lane pool by staying at the Hotel St Clair
The design, the beds - cleanliness and big windows. Despite being a smaller hotel everything felt big and wide open. Wonderful ambience. And lovely staff!
