Location was perfect for walking to the Seal Colony along the path and the beach . The front Desk hours were very limited and the breakfast left a bit to be desired . But the location and the quaint courtyard make up for its downfalls.

Enjoyed the whale watching tour - the day was reasonably calm so no one was seasick thank goodness. Staff were informatiive and shared the story of the whales and dolphins. The map showing us the travel route was very helpful to understand the trnech and which direction and area we were headed to.

Kaikoura is a 2 hr drive from our home, so we regularly visit for long weekends. It's a special part of NZ where people and nature can interact. There's something special about how the mountains meet the sea. And of course the fresh seafood is spectacular

WhaleWatch trip was very good.
WhaleWatch trip was very good. Great cafes: Flo and Co has excellent coffee. Sime's Kitchen had great breakfast and lunch - vegan choices were delicious. Tipsy Foodies also recommended. Southern Paua shop and factory highly recommended - amazing range of jewellery, carvings and gifts. Some exquisite pounamu too. Best place to buy gifts in Kaikoura!!
Novel Findings is a great bookshop and homewares shop - don't miss it!
Loved the Ngāi Tahu artworks beside the highway, murals on the railway bridge and buildings. It's really worth checking the "Neat Places Kaikoura" website - lots of great suggestions for cool places and things to do in Kaikoura.

Very easy to find way to attractions, town lovely and clean.Plenty of eating places, ones we used were all excellent and value for money.Only thing we regretted was we missed the Whale Watch tour as it was blowing hard both full days we were there and there were no sailings. Will have to go back again.
It's our first trip to Kaikoura and we found everything's perfect here - clear instructions from Richard and Moira, finest equipment (basically everything we need from a house is available), superb sceneries (we got both open sea and mountain!), and quiet neighbourhood. Love our getaway weekend here and wish we could have stayed longer! It's cozy like a house but with a quality of 5*.
Look forward to coming back again on our next trip to Kaikoura.
I would go back to Pier Hotel anytime it's a very old but well loved pub/ restaurant/ hotel, obviously well patronized by locals. If you don't mind its age and budget old school decor in the accomadation section it is a very authentic place in Kaikoura
Awesome location and incredible views. Sit on the upstairs wrap around verandah in the sun with amazing mountain and sea views
Great food in restaurant,
Great value for money
We love the historic building with its character and lovely views.
The staff were so very helpful and engaging.
We specially thought the receptionist Chanel was very friendly and welcoming.
This has been our second stay and we will continue to come back again to your Boutique Hotel. We all enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for the friendly staff, great breakfast and cosy accommodation.
a great place to stay in Kaikōura. right on the water in a quiet location yet close enough to walk to restaurants if you want to. fabulously spacious unit with a fully equipped kitchen and modern bathroom. beautifully clean and the manager was utterly delightful - always smiling and incredibly helpful. we will certainly be coming back whenever we come to Kaikōura!
We chose the hotel for its location and were thrilled with our choice. The front desk was staffed with very helpful people and the front office manager on duty for much of the time we were there was a delightful personality.
We were also particularly impressed by the member of staff running the breakfast room: she was very thoughtful.
Friendly welcoming! We took a chance to check in earlier and our room was ready. Very grateful for it. Cosy and close to the great vibe of Kaikoura. Walking distance to nice restaurants, shops, café, well everything. It was just what we needed. Also has a good outside BBQ facilities and recycling area. Will go back! Thanks
Very well equipped motor lodge in an exceptional location - right across from the beautiful turquoise waters of Kaikoura. The bedrooms were really lovely and the beds very comfy. Lots of storage. Dining area was also high quality, with a great large table and very beautiful dining chairs. Very nice staff.
Room was very clean. Room was cold when we arrived but staff provided an extra heater when asked. Bathroom was good but a heater would enhance. Overall the room was value for money. Had a kitchen sink which some motels don't have and I dislike having to do dishes in the bathroom, so a definite plus.
Michelle - Absolutely the perfect person who greeted us and us so welcome and the staff, superb. Rome was absolutely spotless, and Michelle offered to put my catch of fish (went charter fishing with Tommo & Shane Kaikoura Charters) in the freezer for me. Again, superb, loved it.There
Very warm, friendly, cosy hostel. Quiet, nice rooms, clean spacious kitchen, nice addition of a fireplace when it was cold and raining outside. Great outdoor space to relax in, and very well located near the town's shops and the ocean. Cheap laundry too!
Spacious accommodation within walking distance of the business district and seal viewing on the Kaikoura peninsula. Breakfast is delivered to your room the evening before. Convenient parking onsite and high speed Wi-Fi.
Excellent location just off Route 1, and close to the supermarket and other shops, but very quiet. Unit was more spacious than we've experienced in other motels of this price.
Gorgeous studio, just like on the pictures. Very smooth check-in, and very close ride to the main street and promenade. We absolutely loved Kaikoura, wished we stayed longer!
Awesome hotel - owners are very friendly and helpful, and it's possibly the cleanest and newest hotel in all Kaikōura. Very impressed, thanks for the stay.
We loved this hotel. It was so clean. The room was very nice. It had everything we needed. Great bathroom/shower. The front staff were kind and helpful.
