I can recommend Pomeroy's Cafe.on the opposite side of the Square for their delicious matcha laites. Nelson's many art gallerys are enough to satisfy the most avid art lover with the delightful, meandering walk out through Queens Gardens to Nelson's Suter Art Gallery and cafe, always a highlight.

Nelson is a lovely town, with beautiful hanging baskets and old, unique architecture, close to Tahunanui beach, which is lovely. The Saturday market is great and wandering around Nelson town is fun, there are some good small specialty shops. I enjoyed the museum and the Suter Art Gallery and Queens Gardens. It is also a great base to visit both the Marlborough and the Tasman regions.

The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent.
The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent. The Suter Gallery was a highlight, and I enjoyed the Cathedral. I really enjoyed the walk up to "the centre of N.Z" and the views from there. I had some very good food and liked looking at the architecture - e.g the villas and transitional villas in The Brook. Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Garden were great. Also, having a craft beer at "The Free House", a church that has been converted into a drinking place( and painted with fun colours) was wonderful.

Friendliness and facilities were so nice.We had a lovely balcony with table and chairs.Near the beach. The lady I Ispoke to on the phone requesting a bath also came to greet us and she remembered me from our phone call and said enjoy your bath you deserve it. She must have remembered when I spoke to her previously we were going to be tired as we had come from a month of entertaining friends and family. This got us off to a great start. Then we were so happy to see how lovely our unit was.A Wonderful stay
Excellent staff - they went over and above board to help us out during our stay. We checked in early as the room was ready, and a taxi was booked for us to leave early the next day to the airport. When the taxi didn't arrive in time for our departure, the owner took us to the airport in Nelson. Such a lovely, helpful couple - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
This is luxury! Brenda and Guy have created a beautiful space to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of Nelson. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast provided was lovely. So many little things provided that made it feel so much more welcoming. The views are guaranteed and the alpacas were super cute. Highly recommend.
We needed a 2-bed central self-contained Nelson apartment for our family that didn't cost the earth and Waimarie on Riverside ticked all the boxes. Very convenient location with off street parking and within walking distance to the CBD, Riverside pool, Queens gardens. The apartment is cosy with a decent sized fridge.
The bed was exceptional we had the best sleep since arriving in New Zealand. Also a lovely bathroom with rain shower. Our hostess was very thoughtful with all aspects of our stay fantastic breakfast, advice on best places to eat and what to see and do in Nelson. Highly recommend
Convenient to walk into all the best spots in Nelson and the couple who run the place are helpful and kind. The rooms had a place to lounge outside the bedroom and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
The restaurant does amazing food, rooms are spacious and comfortable. Loved having a spa bath and loved the friendly service throughout - the cleaners were lovely, the bar and concierge staff. Well run hotel and I'll stay here every time I go to Nelson
The staff were amazing and so accommodating
Even changed our Australian money for New Zealand dollars.
Location is perfect and when I go back to Nelson I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
Thanks for everything Palms Motel
Cheers Joanne and Michael King
Loved a separate room for family member. Car was parked immediately outside unit. Good kitchen facilities. On the right side of Nelson to start our journey to Golden Bay. Easy access to motorway. Check in & out super quick.
The bed is large and comfortable.
The location is very handy to pubs, restaurants (to suit every budget and age), and one of the nicest beaches in New Zealand. And just a 10 minute drive to Nelson city.
Mark and John were exceptionally hosts providing a real home away from home. They provided advice and services that made our stay very memorable and in a perfect location for visiting Nelson.
Good facility for roaming the Abel Tasman/Nelson. First taste of NZ hospitality. Accurate recommendations and directions (loved Rabbit Island and bay view).
Very private accommodation with most likely the best view in Nelson
My hosts James and Di made me feel so welcome in their home I didn’t want to leave😁
