The room was absolutely prestine. The carpet passed the smell test😀. I often find that carpets are a big let down in many hotels, but I was very pressed. The room was fresh, it smelled of 'nothing', just the way I like it.

Hotel staff are really nice, restaurant to very good, hotel room clean and spacious. Its undergoing renovation which is good as it has huge potentional. I think the lobby and bar area would be cool in an industrial type decor.
Distinction Palmerston North Hotel & Conference Centre is housed in a charming historic building, just 200 metres from the city centre of Palmerston North.

Stayed in an upstairs room towards the back which was spacious, quiet.
Rooms are not new but very well maintained, immaculately kept. Bed was great, very comfortable.
Directly over the road from the hospital and an on-site cafe were great points.

It was very comfortable and we particularly liked the handrails in the shower and by the toilet area - realised later that that it was a disability unit but was extremely suitable for elderly people such as ourselves. Often shower and bath areas are very slippery but while we didn't have this problem it was nice to know handrails were there for support if needed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the heat pump certainly warmed the unit up. The unit was also extremely clean and there were plenty of towels.

Palmerston North is not a place I'd generally choose to go. But I came for a show for the night at the Regent. Fantastic show. I was also pleasantly surprised by local cafe Joe's Garage. Excellent coffee and food. Walking distance everywhere, great Asian restaurants too.

The shopping is Fantastic especially Kmart and the Plaza, and also the OPP Shops. LOL I walked around a bit more this time and discovered some great shops which we don't have in Wanganui where I live. I mainly went for a Buddhist Retreat but extended my stay to do some great shopping. Favorite shops, Kmart, Salvation Army Shop, St Vinnies Opp shop and St John Opp shop. Food shops Ocggi Sushi at the Plaza mall, Noodles N Dumplings, McDonalds at the Plaza. I also shopped at Downtown Souvenirs and Gifts, Whitcoulls the Plaza, Aquisition's, Hello Banana, Inspire me and a few other shops. I had to use taxis because I have a mobility problem, but they were cheap because I used my mobility card for a great discount. I don't think I would avoid anything;

The motel was easy to find, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The staff were very nice. It was very reasonably priced. It has limited kitchen facilities, but is fine to make yourself a simple breakfast.

Kmart open until midnight - crazy!.
Kmart open until midnight - crazy!. The park in the centre of city is beautiful and big. There is lots of completely different features including massive deck chairs that can sit an entire family or plenty of spaces for picnics. Short walking distance to every place you would want to go, free parking if you are willing to walk a couple of blocks to get to the malls/plaza. Food is AMAZING, especially the Korean restaurant we went to, and the bubble tea in plaza is yummy - they have fruit balls if you don't like tapioca like us. Plenty of shopping, only wish some of the stores stayed open a bit later, so much to do, so little time.

Palmerston North has pretty countryside surroundings and lovely wide streets but the town square is very tricky to navigate and gets busy but that's where the shops are mostly.
Very little to do there for apart from walks, gardens and cafes. That's all the brochures offered. We went op shopping which was really good. Too many fast food eateries but very few good restaurants. We went to the turkish cafe, really good.
We went up the Wind farm to view the turbines, no where to stop and take decent photos!! And everyone drives too fast up there.
No activities in town for indoor wet weather entertainment.
I've travelled all around NZ and found this town pretty boring in comparison.. We were there for a tournament, luckily we were at that venue mostly (Heads up to Hockey Manawatu). Only ate out once for dinner. ! So many missed opportunities!!

Check google maps, once you work out the way the main streets are laid out it is easy to navigate. Shopping experience along with ample restuarants. The countryside around Palmerston North is well worth a look as are nearby cities about 1 hour or so away like Napier or Wanganui.

Breakfast was a continental of generous proportion. Loved the home made marmalade. I especially like the fine attention to detail of little things like fresh flowers in the room. These people try hard, and succeed, in making their guests comfortable and cared for. Fine linen too. The experience has aroha that you will not find in motels and hotels. Trade a plastic motel experience for the real hospitality deal. Highly recommended.
Good location, but particularly liked teh self contained laundry and the small kitcheneet which enable me to keep my idetary requirements and not blow a fortune on eating out for every meal. The Quest is also close to excelent supermarkets and restaurants. It is also quite quiet inside even though it is located on Fitzherbert Avenue.
Excellent stay - could become our motel of choice on trips to Palmerston North. Greeted with a room upgrade and a Christmas box of chocolates. Margaret, our hostess was very friendly and helpful even though she was short staffed over the Christmas break. Close to esplanade and river.
I like the ease of booking, the location, the charge rate, and the free parking. Intend to stay at Alpha again in the future.
The Alpha Motel meets my need for modestly priced, clean and quiet accommodation when in Palmerston North.
First time Guest at the Copthorne Hotel. Good size room with Comfortable Bed and what a Great View of Palmerston North from the top floor. Friendly Reception Staff with on-site Parking was very handy. Good Location.
Highly recommend staying here, cannot fault a thing. We are a family of 7 and we had so much space, everything was clean, warm and comfortable, very lovely, accommodating people. We'll definitely be back.
I had the rooms next doors stereo crank up at midnight and I kindly asked reception to have a chat, we were in a family room with two small kids and I didn't want them to wake. They sorted that for us.
Room was a great size, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was great too. We loved that the hotel is close to the city centre and good restaurants. Would stay here again.
Didn’t have breakfast there as we were meeting family
Very spacious and ultra clean lovely Lady at reception who was very pleasant and helpful
Highly recommend A+++++
Host was extremely accommodating, lovely warm space with plenty of room. Beds were really comfortable. We will definitely book again next time we are in Palmerston North
