We were down for a funeral so did not get time to explore what was on offer. However we did travel to the waterways and went for dinner with the family and friends who came to the funeral. Lost Springs was the venue which I can imagine would be a very busy place due to the geo thermal spa and restaurant setup they have. Next time we will do the tourist thing which we are very good at!

We really enjoyed our 1 night stay at this gem of a place, set in a lush forest. The surroundings were idyllic, with beautiful vistas over Whitianga town and beach. The bed was superb and breakfast was amazing - more than we could eat with more than 6 types of fruit, yoghurt, bacon & eggs, and mushrooms and tomatoes, toast...... We've never seen such a variety of teas and coffee on offer! Wish we had had more than 1 night to enjoy Beverley and Dave's wonderful hospitality. 10 out of 10!!

We joined a cruise to the Cathedral Cove from Whitianga.
We joined a cruise to the Cathedral Cove from Whitianga. It was very nice and enjoyable. The beach was scenic. It is a small town but with 2 big supermarkets where we can buy fresh local food.
It is a long drive from Auckland. It would be easier if there is car ferry from Auckland east to the Coromandel pennisula.

Whitianga is a beautiful place especially the area we stayed in being surrounded by the beach. Everything is close by in walking distance. What a bonus. The people are lovely and friendly. We tried the Slice slice baby - pizza place because we seen a lot of people going in and out and now we know why! We also had fish and chips from the shop just next to the pizza and by far the best fish and chips I've had. Fresh and tasty.

Our favourite activity was going on a Cathedral Cove Coast and cave tour with mercury Bay discoveries. Highly recommend getting out on the water.
We enjoyed a dinner at Grace O'Malleys, generous meals at a reasonable price, with a beautiful view.
We enjoyed the closeness to other beaches eg Hahei, Cooks Beach.
We enjoyed taking the ferry across to Ferry landing to explore Flaxmore Bay and other landmarks.
Great Mini Putt golf course , very well kept.
The unit was sparkling clean. I enjoyed sipping coffee from the balcony. We woke up early to watch the sun rise and even made time to slip into the hot tub. We did not cook outdoors, but noted the gorgeous table for alfresco dining. We opted for the Whitianga restaurants which were a short drive away. The proprietors left us a shallow container of water to rinse our feet before entering the unit. Great idea! When we checked in, we appreciated advice about visiting Driving Creek Railway, a narrow gauge railway constructed by a potter.
This place would have to be one of our favourite BnBs we’ve visited in NZ! Nestled into the bank of Brophys Bay, the studio looks onto the gorgeous coastline of Whitianga’s Buffalo Beach.
It has everything we needed for our weekend getaway - Netflix, a comfy bed, outside coffee spot. They also have an outdoor bathtub, a little pathway that leads to the ocean and, the highlight of my morning, home made croissants with butter and jam. They made us feel so welcome and were exceptional hosts.
Amazing property & location, better than any 5 star resort! The breakfast was very culinary and Don & Heather are outstanding hosts! The views during breakfast were incredible! The room we stayed in was super clean had all amenities with very nice thoughtful touches to make us fee like home. We even had our own garden with the coolest garden furniture! Ability to use the washer & dryer was very much appreciated. Highly recommend this property! We felt very welcomed!
The hosts were friendly and even offered the use of a free beach bag with towels and a hose to wash off sand. We did the Cave Cruiise Tour and the Cathedral Cove Gateway Trail. We walked into Whitianga along the beach and had the Snapper Fish and Chips at Whitianga Takeaways, with staggering huge portion of chips more than enough for two and large thick snapper slices. It was a great stay.
Faith and Ralph are excellent hosts. They make you feel so welcome. They couldn't be more helpful. Check-in and guest information book very informative. The unit itself is spotlessly clean. Lovely garden which guests can use too. Good breakfast items in the fridge. Very close to the centre of Whitianga and the supermarkets. We loved this place and will definitely stay again.
This place has great facilities with an amazing view. It is the kind of place you'd dream of staying at while visiting Whitianga. Feels comfortable and the staff are lovely. Within close proximity to the shops and the pools. Have stayed here multiple times and will continue to frequent this excellent accomodation.
Exceptionally clean. The house has a good size of living, bedroom and toilet. It also comes with top grade coffee. The bed is so comfortable. The host, Jennie, is so detailed with the instructions to ensure we have a good stay.
Better than a 6 stars hotel
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Waterfront Apartments! The view from our Apartment was fantastic & it was only a short walk to various places to eat! Chris & Gina are great hosts & we would highly recommend this place to stay when in Whitianga!
Location was amazing !!!
Hired two apartments under different managements for a girls weekend and this one by far was the best !!! Close to the hot springs and better quality. Ocean views. Comfy beds. Very clean and tidy.
An older style motel right in the middle of Whitianga, near Buffalo Beach, the wharf and downtown shopping. The owner was super friendly, and the rooms were comfortable and clean - met our expectations.
Stunning property in a brilliant location. Totally charming and helpful hosts, absolutely stunning breakfast! If I ever visit Whitianga again, I wouldn't contemplate staying anywhere else.
We had the beach view room. We absolutely 💯 loved it. Whitianga is the best. The people were very nice to talk to and helpful. We will be coming back. Thank you 😊
A secluded luxury accommodation with amazing views and a well-equipped kitchen. The continental breakfast was hearty and yummy. Thank you Warren and Carol.
