Orana Motel, hotel in Dubbo

Orana Motel in Dubbo has an outdoor swimming pool and barbecue facilities. Featuring a business centre, this property also provides guests with a restaurant.

Property was very tidy and had good facilities for guests. The room felt very small however the layout was functional. The king bed was comfortable. The restaurant (Thai) attached to the property was really good.

Quality Inn Dubbo International, hotel in Dubbo

Offering free WiFi and an outdoor pool, Quality Inn Dubbo International is located next to the Royal Dubbo Golf Course and just 800 metres from the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Very basic, clean but smelt damp, certainly not quality like the name suggests. However comfortable bed and had a newly renovated bathroom. As a single female traveller felt a little unsafe, dark carpark, isolated and lots of warnings to lock doors.

Dubbo was a great family trip!

Dubbo was a great family trip! (My partner completely disagrees however..) We could have stayed for longer, the observatory was incredible, Peter Starr still ran the night sky tour even though it was just our family booked. I can’t believe the things we saw through the telescope there! Nebulas, star nurseries, things outside the Milky Way, stars that look like one to the eye and then are actually 3 stars! The zoo was great too - highly recommend the golf cart hire, the kids definitely enjoyed that more than the animals. But the animals were also great and feeding the giraffes was a highlight - I had no idea they had so much personality! The coffee in town was good too lots of cafes to choose from…. We didn’t do the dining scene proud as we had domino’s and subway for dinner but at least the kids were fed!

The zoo pass covers two days and it’s great to be able to exit the zoo and come back again so we could go get lunch and come back later in the day for when the lions were right at the glass screens! Great value for money. The old Dubbo gaol is very small and very over priced for what it has to offer and the short amount of time it takes to see it all.

Lots to see and places to visit all within an easy commute.

Lots to see and places to visit all within an easy commute. Never been to a big rural city like Dubbo that has so many railway crossings they are everywhere. Lots of history and culture in Dubbo that needs to be developed better and guides to where everything is to be located. Dubbo is a big rural city but has a great modern hospital located there.

There is much in and around Dubbo, you just need the time and resources to look around, there are places worth a visit less that 1 hour by car around Dubbo, The Plains zoo is probably worth going back the next day to catch those things you missed on the first days tour, the second day entry is included in the ticket price

The zoo and jail are 'must sees' and worth the trip, the parks are great especially the botanic gardens and along the river . Cute Garden centre . lots of new housing and industrial developments . Coffee & Brekky at Press and dinner at the Old Bank .

As a family we were in Dubbo for the attractions.

As a family we were in Dubbo for the attractions. We purchased a Big Pass, which got us into the Zoo for 2 days, RFDS Experience, Old Dubbo Gaol and Wellington Caves. It was good value for money and all of the experiences were excellent to do as a family. We particularly loved the zoo and caves (even booking a second tour at the caves to see the Gaden one as well as Cathedral). We ate at Royal Indian on our first night, which was excellent dining and reasonably priced. During our stay we also ate at Burger Urge and a mexican restaurant - both of which were good but a bit more 'takeoutish'. The main street had plenty of shopping experiences for the kids, with our daughter loving the local games D&D store. We also were there over New Years, and attended the fireworks on the oval for a small $2 per person charge - very reasonable. This was good family fun with plenty of food van options. Our kids really enjoyed the Dubbo Pool and water slides (extra cost and a bit pricey for a family at $10 pp for 30 minutes) and went there on a few days to enjoy the splashpark and cool off in the pool. Altogether we had a really lovely family experience and would recommend it for a 1 week visit for any family.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and beds comfortable. Our room was quiet. No main road traffic noise was heard to disturb sleep. Having the restaurant on site was a bonus for dinner and breakfast. A gold star to Ebony for her smiling service at the restaurant. Ebony was there at both breakfast and dinner sessions. I thought the two bedroom apartment was good value. Location was perfect as less than a 10 minute drive to Dubbo Zoo.

The owner was super helpful, suggesting attractions and places for dinner. We chose the Pastoral Hotel, which was great as they had a complimentary bus with an energetic driver (Anthony) behind the wheel for pick up and drop off. The food there is amazing. The location is perfect, we visited the Old Dubbo Gaol and the Zoo while there. There is also a little bakery right across the street for coffee and breakfast.

The location was in the perfect position for visiting Taronga Western Plains Zoo, and easy to navigate in and out of Dubbo. The staff were AMAZING, so friendly and kind! We didn’t get to use the water park or play equipment for kids as it was raining and we ran out of time, but they looked like so much fun.

Our expectations were very low but it turned out to be just fine! The room was small but clean, sheets clean bathroom fine…. Brekkie was also much better than expected considering how inexpensive it was. It was also very close to the activities that we had gone to Dubbo to see - the zoo and observatory.

Location fine, I forgot to use my $50 travel voucher and was not reminded to do so even though they would have known about it. The guy that did the check-in appeared confused about something but would not tell me, possibly about the voucher- he may have thought it was coming out of the pub's till.

The check in process was wonderful and very accommodating. It was raining and the gentleman behind the counter took the time to ask what food we liked and provided recommendations and listed family friendly activites we could do on a rainy day. Beds were very comfortable.

I liked that it was pretty central to Dubbo. Close to the zoo which is why we were there. Absolutely loved the restaurant upstairs. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the staff etiquette was definitely on point.
