Sun, Sand and The Strip!
One of the best Algarve resorts, Albufeira has wonderful beaches, turquoise waters and the dramatic, rocky coastline that makes this part of Portugal so special.
Naturally, life here is all about sun, sand and sea. The most popular Albufeira beach is Fisherman’s Beach and you can still see locals bringing in the fishing boats every morning - if you’re up early enough, that is. Tunnel Beach is accessed through an opening in the cliff, and both offer a variety of watersports.
Further up the coast is Albufeira Marina, from where sightseeing boat trips depart, while east of the town is the 9-hole Balaia golf course. On the way here, you pass Arias de Sao João, home to The Strip where the best bars and clubs are found, many staying open until the early hours.
The Old Town of Albufeira is more peaceful, and its cobbled streets house Moorish buildings and some great restaurants serving fresh fish. If you fancy a day trip from Albufeira, the 12th-century remains of Moorish Almoáda Castle in Paderne can be visited for free.
The town is around 45 minutes’ drive from Faro Airport and there is a fantastic range of beach resorts, small B&Bs and Albufeira apartments on Booking.com.

Ok, the condo was excellent.
Ok, the condo was excellent. The owner has only one condo so its privately owned meaning its equipped with pretty much all necessities. Well located and tbh...better than i expected. Pictures don't quite render the size. Its very comfortable. It's also gated. Driving inside was surprising to see a 100 foot long entrance completely covered with overhanging trees. Gives it a bit of a royal feel. The condo faces the pool side not the driveway so that's a plus. You can also see the ocean from your terrace. The walk down to the ocean is a bit steep but so is everything in Portugal. Its less than 5 minutes downhill. Now for the part i didn't enjoy as much: Albufeira itself. Its slowly losing it's flavor by becoming americanized with boutiques, restaurants and gift shops. If that's your thing you'll be well served. One night, searching for a power voltage converter i ended up in a somewhat debauchery street with a strip club, sex shop, bars galore, people all over the street and neons advertising loud music and parties. I have nothing against this and it is very reminiscent of Ibiza nightlife but its a sign of change. This was maybe 2km from the condo so not in the immediate viscinity. By the way, i found the converter on that very street in a gift shop so...maybe i shouldn't complain. :) Enjoy!

Albufeira Old Town has become loud and full of Stag and Hen groups :-( Best time to visit it is before lunchtime; after that it becomes rowdy. If that's what you want then fine. There are plenty of other quieter bars/diners on the outskirts, so it can be avoided in the evenings. lovely place... great food... lovely... BUT maybe if you hate the madness of the stag and hen season, maybe more so Stags as they come in vast number, I would suggest late summer as in spring and early summer it is madness with drunks and idiots in abundance.

You can split Albufeira into two parts - Centre - focused on...
You can split Albufeira into two parts - Centre - focused on turists and Old Town part - for slow wondering around. Centre is located in Old Town, so You can make two steps away from main street and enjoy quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Town beach is beautiful - large and sandy with clean water. Unfortunatelly The Lift (the one who takes You down from streets level to beach level) doesn't work and You have to use over 110 steps to get down to beach. Food prices avarage for holiday resorts - starts from 15Euro for pizza up to 20+Euro for everything else. Super cheap Port wine to buy in Intermarche (from 4,2E). We were 5-10 minutes away from all the bars/restaurants in the beautiful old town (where it was much more noisy than on the street of our hotel). My favorite thing was the location and the balcony which opened beautiful scenery to the city, the palm trees and the sea. The hosts were also nice, check in was easy. Staff was friendly. The hotel has very nice facilities (pools, spa, restaurant, ...), although we didn't use any because we just went back to the hotel to sleep at night. The view from our room was great, 6th floor facing towards the Albufeira old town. Facilities and rooms are clean and nice.
