The food was amazing! We had an excellent breakfast before walking the Kumono Kodo trail and the lunch bento box was delicious as well. Nice smell of incense on arrival. The dining room was very cool with alot of American memorabilia. I love the saloon doors that lead to the bathroom. Really close to kii tanabe and Isakyas as well.

Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. I think we could have stayed a whole week if we weren't going on our trek.

Having visited Japan so many times, this trip was probably the best of all. I followed the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage and experienced both the people, the culture and the religion of ancient Japan. I spent in total about 4 days walking and all of the accommodations (family run b&b and a hot spring hotel) was all very clean, with tasty food and friendly people. I'd love to go back again and experience the other less famous trails of the same region.

Location is great, right by the bus stop and right on the river front to dig your own onsen! Definitely bring a swim suit and towel. Shovels were available to borrow. Kohei-san is a great host and very welcoming. He answered questions about Kumano Kodo trails and helped introduce me to other solo guests. Food options nearby are limited so I opted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, which were all delicious! Make sure you pre-order a few days in advance. Room was clean and comfortable.

had everything you needed! Most importantly, Aki-san went out of his way to pick me up and drive me from the station as it was a rainy day. He also advised me on the best routes to take for the Kumano kodo trek and he is extremely knowledgeable on this area so please clarify your concerns with him. There were 2 toilet bowls and 1 shower room. I could also refill my bottle from the tap that had a filter on it. Overall it was a comfortable stay and I was pleased.

Run by a really nice couple who provided lifts from Kii Tanabe station to the guesthouse and then from the guesthouse to the start of the Kumano Kodo the following forming in Takijiri Ōji. We got food before we arrived as there are no cooking facilities onsite but we did have a microwave in our room so could just bring something from the shop in the train station. For us it was a place to rest our heads for the night before the hike and it was perfect for that!

The owner Kohei san was very accommodating. I really felt I was home. The coffee was great. You can have it anytime you want. The onsen was perfect to relieve your tiredness after the hike. I really liked it because you can enjoy the onsen by yourself. I chose japanese breakfast during my 2days stay. It was perfectly enough to start my day because I had a long walk in Kumano Kodo.
