I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days. Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities. This was my second time at Japan, and I regret not going to Gero the first time as well.

Out of all the places we ate in, I think we enjoyed eating in Unasho the most. They serve unagi, which is a specialty of Nagoya, their neighboring prefecture. There are some negative reviews about unasho, about how it's not value for money, but I don't think so. On our return trip, we passed through Nagoya station and ate in one of the famous unagi places in Nagoya called Maruya Honten. We preferred the unagi from Unasho, it was cleaner and prepared better because you felt the fishbones less in your mouth when you chewed. The hot pudding from Yuamiya was TO DIE FOR. We came back twice to the shop during our trip so that we could eat it again and again.

If you love pudding, onsen or frogs, Gero is definitely the place to stay! The hot Hida milk pudding is absolutely delicious. There is a cute little frog shrine and lots of frog related souvenirs, cookies and street decor. There are public foot baths, great hot sprins and enough places to get a decent snack. I can highly recommend La Vita e Bella. This is an italian place in Gero. The staff were absolutely adorable. They spoke English really well and they actually had a proper English menu.

Gero is located in the Center of the Gifu Region. Small and very beautiful place, with unforgettable landscapes. The hot springs are scattered throughout the city and you can use them all the time. It is possible to walk the entire city on foot. Plenty of restaurants and shopping options.

In Gero itself there are just a few sights to go to. However you can easily stay there to discover Takayama or other close sights. Also there are every hot springs were you can either dip in your feet, hands or just jump in with whole body.

The location. The staff - probably top of my list on all the hotels I have been to. The building inside was incredible. An indoor and an outdoor public bath - spotlessly clean. I took a bath just after dawn in the outside onsen. The sound of the river and the chirping of the birds was exquisite and set me up for the day. The private dining room for all guests. The member of staff who served us. Why go to the commercial onsen when this might be a possibility? We will be back.

We expected to stay in an Japanese Style "Ryokan" and were absolutely blown away with the experience. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, they cooked great food and some locals were having a drink in the evening where the mood was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay there and have already decided, if we will be able to come to Japan again, we will visit this nice place again.

Breakfast and Dinner that in included in the room package is excellent。 There was plently of food every meal. It was definitely a eye opener for traditional Japanese food. We travelled with 3 young kids and they provided diaper bins, kids shower gel, toothpaste, kids yukata. I am surprised by how kids friendly the resort are.

Rooms and onsen are both very clean. Both dinner & breakfast had a big spread, relativley good standard but not the best I have taken. Good hospitality from the staff. Pickup transport provided from Gero Station, though we took a very doable walk (about 15-20 mins) while enjoying the surroundings. Glad to have chosen Yunoshimakan.

Izumi-so was my first Ryokan experience and couldn't recommend it more, the host was lovely, kind and accommodating. My room was very nice and the breakfast was delicious; the open air onsen was also lovely at night! Great location, about a 1-2 minute walk from the center of Gero. 10/10
