The staff were very welcoming, down to earth and keen to please. The location itself was very quiet and peaceful with large grounds and plenty of space. There was a view of the top of Mt Meru from the back of the building. Good value all in all

I attended a conference at the AICC and for convenience I ate my dinner at the Mount Meru Hotel. I enjoyed the safari to Tarangire Park and had a lovely goat and lamb BBQ at the local Kwa Mrombo (a street full of BBQ goat meat in Arusha).

Arusha is not a pleasant place, on the very dirty crowded streets there is non stop people grabbing and talking to you all wanting money, we had one person tell us about his mother in the hospital and wanted us to pay her bills. Arusha is a means to a safari and that is it.

Arusha is a busy city.
Arusha is a busy city.
I have visited old German Boma which was converted into Natural History Museum.
Seen also Arusha Declaration Monument and Clocktower which they claim it’s located in the middle of Africa or let say in the middle between Cairo and Cape Town.
They have some supermarkets like Shoppers Supermarket or AIM Mall on the way to Arusha Airport.
East African Community HQ and Heritage Museum.

A typical African city, colorful with open local markets and malls, safe to walk around and very friendly people. Ideal location to start your safari because most safari organisers start safaris from there. I’ll definitely visit Arusha again.

Great city to stay in.
Great city to stay in. Definitely the safari hub; at least four major safari destinations (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater) within a day's drive. Lots of great (if sometimes challenging) hiking to be done in the foothills of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro (or climb the mountains if you feel like it).
Easy access through Arusha (domestic) or Kilimanjaro (international) airports. Taxis are cheap, but make sure you agree on a price beforehand,

Good variety of shops and interesting cultural and heritage centre. Convenient place for starting point for safari. Views of mountains/hills at times. Climate not too hot. Maasai market interesting.
The hotel is excellently located in the downtown Arusha with access to the market and the street around the hotel and the nearby cafes provided an excellent choice and variety for street food. For breakfast, we loved the vitumbuas and katlasi around the corner! The hotel interior is well finished with tastefully furnished allowing comfortable living. The kitchen is fully functional allowing cooking and the convenience of separate bathroom and toilet, ideal for families!
Idyllic hotel with lovely surroundings. This was our first stop in Tanzania and we were made to feel very welcome. Loved the food (very reasonable at around £3 for dinner and less than £1 for beer). Our double room was clean and comfortable, excellent for the price we paid!
Would recommend hiring bikes for the short cycle ride to Lake Duluti - we really enjoyed exploring the surrounding villages and spotting beautiful birds and reptiles on the lake.
The bed and breakfast is on the family's property so it is like you are a family guest in their backyard bungalow. Dinner available for lovely authentic home cooked African meal. Felt so welcome and comfortable. We even played cards with the kids! We had just completed a very pricey safari and were as comfortable here as all of our stops. if you need a place in Arusha before or after a safari I would highly recommend staying here!
Great location, beautiful gardens, friendly staff (Sophia was particularly lovely, as was the friendly cleaner and the smart wait staff) world class Indian food - I eat a lot of Indian and this was definitely up there with the best!, and big rooms with comfy beds. Okay, it’s kinda like going back in time and the bathrooms are a little run down but it’s clean and this is Tanzania after all - I can’t imagine that Reno’s are in the budget!
My home away from home 💗
They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10 am. We got to Utulivu Hostel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The service was exceptional as well.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this Utulivu Hostel to anyone visiting Arusha, Tanzania
Amazing hotel. From the cleanliness to the amenities, everything was perfect. Highlight the service that made all the difference during my days in Arusha. They helped me order food, buy medicines, book Safari and get around the city. It was all incredible. Thank you very much Fred and team
The hotel is centrally located in Arusha, you can reach easily everything by foot. It is a welcomed quite place after a day of too much noise/traffic. I loved the restaurant, they make really good authentic Indian cuisine!
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The staff was very welcoming and did help us for any request we had. The room was comfy. This is a great hotel for its value, but don't expect luxury. It's great for low budget, taxi are cheap to go to the city center and the patio is cute.
The hotel is in a great location in Arusha, and we got a 5th-floor room with a great view. Also, the Indian-style breakfast was delicious. The honeymoon flower decoration was absolutely amazing. The staff was also really helpful and kind.
Lovely hotel with pool. Little distance to central arusha but easily reached by boda-boda or tuk-tuk.
Really helpful staff and great service for looking after your luggage while your off on safari or similar.
It’s clean and the bed with net so you don’t need to worry about the nighttime. They just upgraded the WiFi so everything should be fine. I won’t say it’s the best hotel in Arusha but it worth to stay.
The location by the open coffee fields and the Arusha airport truly make this feel like an escape well away from the world despite being in easy driving distance to town and other conveniences.
And ideal place to stay location wise after our safari trip, as we were a short trip from Arusha airport. The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff were helpful.
Agnes was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay! I will 100% recommend it and if I ever come back to Arusha I would stay here.
Breakfast was delicious too.
