The personal service and attention is absolutely great. Despite the hotel not being the newest anymore, we really enjoyed our stay and the room came with all the necessary (incl. portable heater). Unlike in other Peruvian cities we never had issues with hot water or the wifi, everything worked perfectly. The value for money is great!

Puno is a great city. I like the view on the lake and the Uros/Taquile Islands. I would go back in a heart beat.
The city itself is easy to access but due to higher elevation, I could only walk very short distances before being tired.

It is worth going to the lake in Puno since it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is also unique because of the islands made of reed. It was interesting seeing the lifestyles of the people living on these lakes. The food served as part of the tour was good, but getting to the restaurant was challenging since the climb up to the restaurant was quite steep. The overall experience was very good.

Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands.
Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands. The city itself is not very interesting, nice main square with a cathedral and few goods restaurants (Mojsa at the bottom of the Main square was really excellent, full of international travelers...). Did not have much time to climb on the nearby hills to have a panoramic view of the Puno & Titicaca. Spent two-day / one-night trip to Uros / Amantani / Taquile islands (overnight at Amantani with a local family), very interesting and very down-to-earth, but we all enjoyed the boat trip, Uros, dancing in local costumes & sunset from the top of Amantani (made it with our 8-year old daughter), as well as the next day at Taquile island. The following night we spent at Uros with Felix (Uros Amaru Marka Lodge) was excellent !

We wanted to come for the cultural experiences of the uro peoples but we saw a people who are abusing tourism to live. We were overcharged at every occurrence from transportation, housing, souvenirs, food etc. It left a bad taste in our mouths. We wish we would have spent time in other places in Peru.

Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small.
Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small. They don't have the artensans or activities that other large towns like Cuzco may have, so if you don't care to visit the floating islands of Uros, you may not want to make the trip.

It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing.
It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing. Markets galore and very well priced. Food was vaery nice in the restuarants.
Dont forget your ina toursit trap and it becomes more apparent as and if you go to the Uros islands. You will not be allowed tp leave until they have rinsed you of every penny they can get out of you -with minimal effort.
There is so much potential to do a lot more but I think the islanders have become lazy and just want to sell you trinkets which in all honesty are mass produced. The guide said they get most if not all oof their income from tourists. I can understand that, but at least make it entertaining rather than a tired old roadshow where they roll out the same thing time after time.
There is a nice promenade along the front with lots of wildlife.
Hope you enjoy.
Happy trails
The best experience we had in Peru, everything was so beautiful and authentic. Cesar and Lucy are extraordinary hosts, they will strive to ensure that you have the best possible stay. The room was breathtaking as well as all the activities that went with it. We went fishing with them on the lake, a memorable memory, and they also took us to neighboring islands. We have learned a lot about their community and history. The meals, included, and prepared by Lucy were delicious.
I recommend 1000 times and I hope we will have the chance to go back.
A unique experience to sleep on a floating island. The location is stunning, probably one of the best in the Uros for sunset. Cesar and his family are extremely welcoming hosts, keen to share as much about the local culture while also making sure you enjoy your privacy. The food, hospitality and help finding our way there and onwards after leaving have made it our favourite experience in Peru so far.
This lodge sits on its own, far from any neighbouring lodges, and this has a truly breathtaking effect. We had a really peaceful couple nights.
The property was as advertised. My room was quiet and clean. the bed was new and comfortable. The staff was amazing and very professional. It was only about a minute walk to the Plaza de Armas and the place just seemed very relaxed. Breakfast was from 6 am to 8 am which for me was perfect as I like early morning coffee. most tours begin pickup at the hotel around 7 am, so you were able to have a good breakfast before exploring. I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful people and nice, clean hotel for the money!
This accomodation is a great place to experience and get to know better the local culture. We were immersed into it and we felt very well.
We felt the accomodation was well priced.
The breakfast was amazing, above expectations for Peruvian standards.
We served as well the dinner for a fair price.
Manuel, member of the family, drove us by his boat for a fair price to the local port and explained us a few things about the local culture, the work they do to maintain the islands and the main activities.
Authentic reed island experience in a comfortable room with large glass dual aspect windows and views of the lake. Mama Leia and Papa Mario were so welcoming and made our stay very special. We had plenty of blankets and a hot water bottle. Mama Leia prepared an amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner. We took a trip around the Uros Islands with them on their boat.
Definitely a highlight of our trip to Peru.
What an unusual hotel, which was perfect for me. As always, the staff were so helpful, and the breakfast delicious. There are unusual decorations, and it feels really like “old Peru” to stay there. I would definitely return.
I hope the very helpful teenager is enjoying my Jacket I left behind deliberately! And gratefully.
Lovely wake-up knock, and delicious breakfast.
One of the best travel experiences we ever had. I mean ever, not only in Peru and we have traveled a lot! There is no better way to experience Titicaca than staying with a family who has lived on the floating islands for generations. Amalia Lodge was exactly that. Everything was carefully thought through, clean, nicely furnished, comfortable and very very tranquil.
We were only staying in Puno for one night before we transferred to Copacabana and this was the perfect place to stay. It’s a bit dated, but probably the nicest hotel in the city center. Staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable with a great view overlooking the square, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve seen in South America!
I got a twin room with a private bathroom with breakfast included (a simple ham or cheese sandwich with tea) for the price of a dormitory bed at most places in Peru. The owners are also very friendly and helpful, they have a tour agency with the hostel that offers the lowest price I could find for tours in Puno. Would recommend!
The hotel is very central, just facing the main square of Puno, Plaza de Armas. The staff speaks English, which is not that common in Peru, even in hotels and other facilities for tourists. Good breakfast, good size of the room with another rarity in the Peruvian accomodation system: a heater!
Leonardo and the family were lovely, they helped us with any regard. The food was excellent. The accommodation was beyond our expectations! Due to the location wifi is not possible, but it’s super easy to get a Peruvian SIM card in Puno (Claro Shop) if you need internet.
Was a good place, we could check in at 4 am, when we arrived with a bus. There was the usual Peruvian hostel breakfast, coffee and tea was also available during the day. The personnel was helpful. Room was clean, enough place for storage, good bathroom.
The host is adorable, he works all alone to manage the whole thing, it's impressive really! Also, the bread for breakfast was fresh, which is better than any hotel/hostels I rested in during my trip in Peru !
The bed is most a better that we have found in peru....and the propretry is very friendly.
Good location.
We stay only one day....but we came back sure if we went on peru again.
Thanks for all.
We like everything at this hotel. It surpassed all our expectations.
The staff is first rate, going out of their way to help.
The room and beds are super clean, as is the shower and everything
The staff is lovely!
The location close to the center and the bus station.
The breakfast was one of the best we had so far in Peru.
The shower as well.
Free tea all day long.
the beds are huge and comfortable and staff is very kind. puno is a very impoverished city so part of the hotel faces the lake and the other a shanty town.
