Hamilton is a surprising city with a real mix of high culture (the art museum) and the gritty artifacts of its industrial past. Old Hamilton has a lot to do, see, eat, and drink, all walkable and with easy access to the GO Train. The Mountain (the Niagara Escarpment) is harder to access except by car, full of unhighlighted history and glimpses of a grand vista over Lake Ontario. The Bruce Trail and Dundas Valley Trails are accessible but you have to pay $11 to park. Newer homes and retail strip malls make this area seem like a suburb of Old Hamilton, with the escarpment as the natural barrier. As with all suburban areas, we got the impression that tourists were not welcome “Nothing to see here!” , a curious undervaluing of a novel bit of Ontario.

Hamilton is the best location to be able to access many attractions without paying very high prices and having large crowds when the day ends. Niagara Falls is just 30 minutes away and Toronto is just less than an hour. There is plenty of shopping and good restaurants. I have stayed in both Toronto and Niagara and found them to be very expensive for everything you do. It was far nicer to be a reasonable distance from both and be comfortable at a place between.

The global impression of Hamilton tends to be negative - and it is not deserved. We found the architecture to be wonderful, the people to be friendly and dining to be varied and generally very good (loved The Mule). We got lost walking one day and a gentleman actually drove us back downtown - over the top hospitality! The weather was very mild and the gardens were still in bloom - but we'd love to see more of it in the summer. Some of the key attractions were just not open, such as the air museum, or closed several days of the week, which was disappointing.

I was disappointed that most bars/restaurants were closed Sunday night. It was not easy to find something open where our group of friends could celebrate following a Grey Cup win. A BIG shoutout to The Cat ‘N’ Fiddle for being open that night. The city of Hamilton could do some things to beautify their city. I was only there for the Grey Cup but am definitely not drawn to go back for any other reasons.

Parking in area is not good. 22 steps and no railings are not acceptable. "Ola" bakery next door was fantastic, owners was 1 in a million, so warm and outgoing. Don't find em like her and hubby very often. Even gave us freebees for the road when leaving. WOW!

Much of the city to the east of downtown had a run down and dilapidated feel about it. A number of restaurants seem closed or shut down and the number of places for drug rehabilitation and services for people with problems did not create the best impression. On top of the escarpment was a different world.
The main reasons for our visit, The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and HMCS Haida were very worthwhile and the waterfront parks were very pleasant.
Unfortunately we did not participate in the breakfast. I really like the comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and size of room. I also like the friendliness of the reception desk staff. Often Connor has served us and he has always been friendly and helpful. It is also nice to stay in a hotel with lots of restaurants nearby and easy parking as well. Rooms are also very quiet which is great.
The neighborhood is very nice and the house really is cozy and unique, was a perfect welcome for our first time in Canada, I really appreciate and I would stay again, Amanda was always attentive and showing a really interest on us.
Amazing and well-stocked kitchenette in the room,
Awesome cleaning service, always coffee and tea and clean towels. Comfy beds.
Great pool in the hotel. Location near Mc Master U.
It all just perfectly works for me.
The hotel was ideal for a work trip, very central to everything and quiet. The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond at any request I had. I will be staying here again on my next work trip for sure.
Super location, very easy access to downtown, a few good restaurants nearby. Plus really good breakfast. Coffee, tea and snacks all the time available. Enough space for parking, I am very satisfied.
Everything you can imagine ,The BEST place I have stayed in Canada .I love all everything about the home I stayed will surely come back again and again …Self service never felt so so goooooooddd
We booked this hotel last minute due to an airbnb cancelation the night before a huge board exam. This was located right across from where our exam was being held and we had a comfortable stay.
The property is nicely kept with lots of stores within walking distances. The two restaurants connected hotel is a bonus and we used both during our stay fit breakfast and dinner.
