Kamloops has existed as a stopover for travellers travelling from Vancouver to Alberta. Prices for everything are higher because the hospitality industry knows that people need to eat, sleep, and refuel to continue on their travels.

Kamloops is a friendly, family-oriented city - truly The City of Tournaments. I recommend the city pool. It's bright and clean, and there was hardly anyone there ! The Koh-I-Nor Nepalese restaurant has an excellent lunch buffet. The traffic is agitated: folks tend to drive like they're still on the highway - on the city streets, and racing shopping carts around Costco.

There are lots of amenities, shops, hiking trails, and hotels/motels in Kamloops so its a convenient place for travelers. The downtown core features numerous interesting cafes and restaurants, but also the considerable (and growing) presence of homeless individuals. More than anything, that just contributes to a feeling of helplessness since - how can we help them all? If you want to hike or shop without hitting the downtown, the area between downtown and the Wildlife Centre features several options and the wonderful Dallas/Barnhartvale trail system. On the North Shore, Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area is great for hiking and, again, many shops and eateries. I visited Fortune Health Foods the other day and the lady in there was very friendly, it's a good place for supplements, herbs, and some international foods.

Main reason for trip was to visit son at the TRU which is only a 10 min walk away. Bus stop very near to hotel so if without a car its easy to access the town via buses that run frequently. The airport is only 25/30 mins away. It was also very convenient to catch the Rider Express Coach, 3 mins walk up the road by the Esso garage, with the route between Vancouver to Calgary via Banff and Lake louise.
In the summer months a walk along the Thompson river shoreline is a must and maybe a swim in the river.

From the mall and the Costco, Kamloops is a place for families on the go. It is, after all, The Tournament Capital of Canada. I ate at a mall food court, as good as any. Driving around Kamloops can seem a little zany at times - the highway runs through the town. I started at the Best Budget Inn - it has excellent value. Then, The Plaza has character, especially the 1927 lift, and lobby decorated brightly for the holidays. Downtown Kamloops, like so many others, can be colourful. I was disappointed to see some thrift shops closed, but, of course, it was the holidays - what did I expect ? Families need to be together. There is really nothing in Kamloops I would avoid. Even the souped up pickup truck doing a brake stand for the benefit of so many was something to see. Talking with elders in Kamloops is enriching, as usual. Kamloopians are friendly, helpful and interesting.

Came to Kamloops to finish off some Christmas shopping and managed to get most of what we wanted. Lots of choice in Kamloops. Had an awesome breakfast at Harolds . Also we hit McDonalds on way out of Walmart and had a maple bacon cheesburger which was quite yummy.
A very nice, reasonably priced hotel for travellers passing through Kamloops (or perhaps visiting for a bit). The staff were very friendly and professional, and were very flexible as we had a room that was ice-cold due to enthusiastic airconditioning, and they moved us immediately with no fuss. The room we got was spacious and comfortable. If we weren't just driving through we would have tried the pool :)
By pre-COVID standards the breakfast was the average hotel fare. Eggs, bacon, waffles, juices, cereals, etc... Decent food that tasted good. But even today hotels no longer serve a breakfast in fear of a mad-COVID chain reaction and anhilation of the human race. This hotel was BOLD and SERVED BREAKFAST! Like true patriots of the American tradition!!! Go Holiday Inn Kamloops, GO forth and be BOLD!
The room was OK for cleanliness and the bed was comfortable. I often make trips between the West coast and Alberta for work and Kamloops is a convenient place to stop over night. I've used this property in the past and it was good value for the money. It can't be easy operating a hotel with the current Covid-19 restrictions, but I think next trip I will have to spend a little more for a better room.
the room was spotless and comfortable but the best thing about this hotel were the staff. I had an unexpected stay in Kamloops because my father was in the hospital. the staff went above and beyond to help me with my booking and to make me feel comfortable. special thanks to Sandy, Natasha, Audrey and Joey, it was so great to see your smiling and caring faces during a very difficult time.
IT WAS A DATED ROOM, BUT VERY CLEAN AND COMFORATABLE, THEY CAME IN DAILY AND MADE THE BED AND TOOK MY GARBAGE OUT AND LEFT ME CLEAN TOWELS, I STAY AT A LOT OF HOTELS FOR WORK AND SINCE COVID THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED AT OTHER HOTELS WHERE THEY ARE NEWER AND I PAY WAY MORE TO STAY IN. STAFF IS FREINDLY AND I WILL GO BACK AND STAY THERE WHILE I AM WORKING IN KAMLOOPS.
This appears to be an older property, but still in decent condition. Room was comfortable. Climate control good, it also had an operable window. The TV needed some fiddling to get it to work, but it’s a minor issue that I’m sure the have dealt with. The Chinese food restaurant in the hotel was very good. As a budget property, this earns a 7/10.
Made a reservation online and asked to check in early. Was told I could, came around 2:40 pm and was told I could not check in because I'm from kamloops. Felt very unfair since I was only getting a hotel due to home flooding. Had a hard time getting another room at different hotel due to the short notice and had to pay much more. Very unhappy.
This hotel is very convenient to the Kamloops airport and the free shuttle is quick. They kept our car keys that had been dropped off and made check in very easy. We had a late dinner at the hotel, which was good too. it is quiet and I like the toiletries in the bathroom. They don’t skimp on conditioner for example. Our room was very clean.
Comfortable hotel with easy access off the highway. Staff were friendly and enjoyed the included breakfast. Rooms are dark and air conditioned which made for a grey sleep. Free underground parking. Overall good value while passing through Kamloops.
I needed a cheap place to stay one night on my way to Vancouver. The staff was really friendly, the room was fine, as old-fashioned as expected. The location is good as you can get off Kamloops very easily in the morning.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners are a cute family with a dog and a cat. Spacious room with comfy beds that made us fall asleep after a long day. Near stores and downtown Kamloops!
Motel has good location on river. The river-side bike/walking trail is a lovely way to travel the 1 km into downtown Kamloops with its several craft breweries. (We biked it.)
