If you are into a resort style atmosphere, where you are picked up and dropped off by taxi, and everything at your beck and call, then this place and the location will suit you. We really liked the historic part of town - the Ribat is beautiful (with a great guide!). The archaeology museum is definitely worth a visit. The souk was an enjoyable pace and you didn't feel hassled. The restaurants were good. Taxis were cheap and easy to find.
City could do with a big clean up and shows clear signs of suffering financially, but that didn't take away from our trip.

I found Sousse to be a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. I was pleased to discover that the local people were friendly and welcoming, which made my trip more enjoyable and memorable.
One of the highlights of my trip was having a hire car, which allowed me to explore the surrounding areas and discover hidden gems such as the castle. It was fascinating to learn that the castle was the location for the popular movie Monty Python's Life of Brian. This made my trip even more exciting and memorable.
However, it's worth noting that if you're looking for a bustling city with lots of activities to do and places to see, Sousse may not be the best choice. From my experience, Sousse is more of a laid-back destination where you can unwind and relax.
Overall, I had a positive experience visiting Sousse and enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

The area is beautiful.
The area is beautiful. There are so many activities to do there. The transportation system is excellent and very affordable. You can walk almost everywhere really, but if you are lazy like me, you can either use your phone to order a Bolt taxi or just flag one down on the road.

I used Sousse as a base to travel to other parts of Tunisia by train and car. If you wanted a beach / resort hotel to just chill then this would be an excellent choice. If you wanted more exploration of the history and culture then Sousse is a little limited and I think would "do" all the local things in 2/3 days.

Sousse has a lot of history for a not so big town, walks around the winding streets medina is a real pleasure, forget the main way, try following the walls enclaves where people live and go shopping. There are ateliers shops there and you can see what their projects are. Visit the archeological museum, it is housed in a nice building and has a few interesting treasures. Walk on the beach, it is very relaxing.
This is a budget hotel, but it does a great job for the price. We are regular visitors. Simple Tunisian style rooms that are clean and with working bathrooms. Basic cooking facilities and a fridge. Right by the sea front and close to the centre of town. Breakfast at the café next door is Tunisian style with an egg, croissant, cake, bread and jam and a cup of coffee. There is a cheap Tunisian restaurant across the road.
I love the friendly staffs, the location, the city/beach front view, the breakfast, the security measures taken, the spa, the outdoor pool, the clean beach and its clear water, the beautiful/comfortable room, and just an overall wonderful experience.
This was my first time in Sousse or in Africa for that matter! I'll definitely be back agian!
Thank you for providing me with a great new experience!
This is my second time staying at Marhaba Royal Salem and I have to say that this time I liked the hotel much better than my first.
The room was great.
If you have children and you are planning to visit Sousse during summer, then Marhaba Royal Salem should be target as they have best pool in the area where your children will definitely spend great times.
The staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The location was also really good. Right on the beach, some small shops and food places just outside the hotel and only a short journey into Sousse. The hotel is also super clean, a great team doing a thorough clean daily.
Perfect location. Just 7 minutes away from the train station. In the medina but at the same time close to the beach and to the metro station. There is a restaurant downstairs. I loved the common areas and the atmosphere (it looks more like a hostel than a hotel). They can store your baggage after check out.
I recommend this hotel for its location in the heart of the Medina of Sousse, off a quiet alleyway. The recently restored historic building is beautiful, and the design of the guest rooms very well done. Everything is clean and tidy, and hotel staff are very welcoming and attentive.
Beautiful authentic dar right in the medina. Perfect place of pure serenity, in a Tunisian style, with several cozy places to sit and relax in the quiet and the shadow.
Breakfast was great, served with love.
All the staff is very hospitable and helpful (special thanks to Emin).
Loveliest host we have ever had. Rooms are charming and larger bathroom that we thought. Amazing rooftop and courtyard for meals. Wonderful home cooked Tunisian meals. Great access to fridge and other facilities.
everything really. staff was very nice and helpful. hotel is just beautiful. location is perfect in the Medina. breakfast was superb. rooftop terrace has perfect views of Sousse. highly recommended!!!!
The staff are amazing!! The location of the hotel was perfect. Two inspection points for vehicles to enter the property, for added security. I felt safe and overall enjoyed my stay.
Toutou is an amazing host – really helpful in terms of helping guests get around Sousse / Tunisia generally and really great with recommendations.
Dar was spotlessly clean.
