Proximity to the water was great. A fair amount of bird life about when we visited. We were in transit to Hotel Lago grey so our visit to the town was relatively brief. Our impression of Puerto Natales was degraded by the poor customer service we received from Hotel Costaustralis. One of the gateways to Patagonia, less than 2 hours drive from Hosteria Pehoe. Direct flight from Santiago, everything is convenient, except there is no car rental place at airport. But it is only a 10 min taxi ride to town.

I chose Puerto Natales because it has an airport close to Torres del Paine. I did four excursions to view the outdoor beauty of southern Chile. I walked to the bus station to acquire information ... I was pleasantly surprised that a bus can take me futher south, near the tip of South Amarica.

Puerto Natales is a very cool town. We stayed in the park for 2-3 nights and in Puerto Natales for 1 prior to a flight early in the AM. We enjoyed walking through town and had EXCELLENT food at La Disqueria!! There isn’t a whole lot to do in the town itself, you can probably see everything in one day, and the weather is unpredictable even in the summer. It’s walkable and there are some cool shops and restaurants that largely cater to tourists. Most people come here because they are going to hike or tour Torres Del Paine, to see the glaciers, or both, and they don’t want to spend $500 USD or more per night to stay in the park. Figure out how many excursions you want to do, and give yourself an extra day to check out the town.

Puerto Natales is an easily navigated small town and a good jumping off point for tours and trips to Torres del Paine, one of Chile's most famous national parks and hiking trails, as well as for catamaran tours to see the glaciers. The town is equipped with a number of good restaurants, outdoor/sports stores and supermarkets, making it a good place to stop before and/or after excursions. It has a beautiful waterfront. It is cool year round, cold in the winter, keep in mind this region of Chile includes Antarctica so you should always be prepared for wind and cold, although we did have a few relatively warm afternoons.McFarland

Bathrooms were in better condition than most hostels we’ve stayed in, which is pretty unusual for a campsite! We stayed in a tent with equipment provided, perfect for two people and sleeping bags were super duper warm! Breakfast was lovely to have and having a good coffee before a day of hiking was superb!! Heaps of pots and pans and crockery to use. We are very glad we stayed here and would 100% recommend this accommodation!!

Catalina was great in helping us book some tours and answering our questions. She also prepared box lunches for us early in the morning. Definitely would stay back here coming back to Puerto Natales

I have stayed there a couple of time and I was always happy to come back "home" - the hotel manager was super open, friendly and had supported me in a couple of occastions; she is the heart of Origines. I would always go back. Location is practical since it is in between the main bus station and the center.
