The room had a great view of the lake and the Onsen had a great view of Mt Fuji. Both great factors for the hotel.

The room was spacious, the view was nice and the bed was comfortable. The hotel provided slippers and bathrobes; the little luxury items that made a difference.
We stayed a few days to look around Mt Fuji with a hired car, so I can’t comment on location in terms of public transport. There is a shopping mall nearby, it’s handy to buy a few things. There are also a few restaurants in walking distance. The coffee shop next to the carpark has great coffee.
Offering magnificent views of Mount Fuji and Lake Shoji in every room, Shoji Mount Hotel features 2 large public baths, which are open 24 hours. Kawaguchiko Station is a 35-minute drive away.

Well, the view of Fuji is unbeatable if it’s not cloudy!
Otherwise the hotel is quite old and there are stains everywhere so therefore I think it’s not the best value for money. But that’s just about the hotel itself, if you have good weather and you like it a bit in a quieter area then you will leave with some very happy memories!

We had a lovely stay. The staff were very hospitable and warm. We were greeted by Mt Fuji every morning at breakfast, a great way to start the day. Lots of hiking trails and water activities within minutes of the hotel.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and gave us an early check in to the room. Restaurants in the area generally close quite early (5-7pm) and it was good that there was a microwave, some cutleries and utensils in the room as we bought some food from the nearby convenience store instead for dinner. Thankful to the staff for helping to keep our bags after check out while we toured the kawaguchiko area before our ride back to tokyo.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession.
The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested.
On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through.
Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

This is the second time I stayed at the hotel because the hotel is so close to Kawaguchiko station, opposite the station on the right side. The main door and the signboard of the hotel is quite hard to recognize the hotel. There is a small onsen bathroom in the hotel with nice view of Mt. Fuji that I really like. The hotel is very kind to allow us to check in late and lend me some Japanese two-pin plug. Besides, the hotel is not so far from Kawaguchiko lake (10 minutes). The room is clean. Would recommend to stay.
The hotel is near Kawaguchiko station and provided shuttle service. Hotel has assigned us a room with Mount Fuji view which is a plus!
We loved the onsen at basement and rooftop.
Dinner was served in our room but we prefer to have dinner at dining area instead of our room (the food smell stayed in the room for a while). We received excellent service from Mr Oda during dinner service.
Breakfast was served as a set and we were seated near the window (at level 2 dining area) with a nice view of Kawaguchiko Lake.
We stayed in a Japanese room with Mt Fuji view and managed to get a fantastic view of the majestic mountain. The check in was quite fast. We self-drove and there was ample of free parking spaces. The hotel even provided trolley to bring baggage up to the room! I quite like their public bath and I was able to see the snow fall into the outdoor bath area, which was so magical. The room was comfortable even though it looks rather simple. There are a few supermarkets nearby, and Fuji-Q is very nearby.
The view from our room was incredible. We were lucky enough that the view of Mt Fuji was completely clear the day we visited. The staff at the hotel were so welcoming and lovely. They have a shuttle to the train station that runs every 30 mins starting at 8. We had wanted to leave at 7am so asked to book a taxi. Instead of booking us a taxi they stopped what they were doing and gave us a lift instead. I will be recommending to everyone I know that is planning a visit Japan to stay here.
The traditional Japanese nature of Hotel Asafuji was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful with a great eye for detail. The dinner and breakfast that we had were SO good and beautifully prepared and presented at our own table. The onsen was great (a wonderful experience) and, of course, there was Mt Fuji visible (between times of cloud cover) from our room's window which also had an excellent view of Lake Kawaguchiko.
Got the Ryokan (traditional Japanese room)
The staff are extremely professional, polite and considerate. They offer luggage hold until you check into the hotel (3PM), and will also offer to drive you to Kawaguchiko Station when you check out.
The public bath (onsen) was clean and very relaxing, didn't see much people when I went. Sometimes, got the whole onsen to myself (go around 12 am, no one is there)
The best view of Mt Fuji directly at your face. Loved the onsen, breakfast was superb and value for money, highly recommended to pay for breakfast as the restaurant outside opens late. Location is great as there are restaurants within walking distance and a shopping mall nearby. Hotel shuttle to kawaguchiko station is every 30mins from 8am-11am and upon request from 3pm-8pm.
Excellent! I recommend this hotel if you want a perfect Fuji view from your room. The weather was misty when we checked in, yet Lake Kawaguchi view was impressive. Next morning, we woke up with the clear Fuji view with the perfect reflection on the lake. It’s 5 minutes drive from Kawaguchiko station and and hotel staff picks you up for free !
The best thing about this hotel is that it is just opposite the Kawaguchiko station which makes things easier if you are travelling around Yamanashi a lot. Nearby, there is the famous Lawson. On top of that, the view of Mount Fuji from my room was breathtaking, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
The hotel is a bit older, but the room was very pretty. The view of Mt. Fuji was fantastic. At night we had great wagyu barbecue in the hotel. In the morning we got up early to see the sunrise from the window, had a nice Japanese breakfast in the hotel and bathed in the onsen. It was super relaxing.
Get to experience the traditional Japanese Ryokan and Japanese dinner and breakfast. Staffs are polite and helpful. Hotel provide pickup service from Kawaguchi station. Staffs are able to communicate in English. The onsen is good, you get to enjoy mountain Fuji from the hotel onsen.
The staff was very helpful, as one would expect in Japan, but the level of their English was quite exceptional! If you struggle with speaking the local language, consider accommodation in this hotel/ryokan.
At dinner, they were very considerate towards our dietary limitations.
The hotel is beautifully situated near a lake. From one side you see the woods and the lake and from the other Mt. Fuji. The rooms are Japanese style. The staff will convert the space into night space in the evening. The onsen is located outside which gives an extra point!
it’s much larger than hotel rooms in Japan, we felt like being at home and we cooked the dinner instead of eating out, the location is great, very near a super market where you can buy vegetables, fruit and many things, much more than family market, 711 or Lawson…
We stayed in a Japanese style room with no views for Fuji mountain. Although the facilities are very basic it is very authentic and clean. This hotel is great value for money! It was right near a bus station, restaurants and few minutes walk to the train station.
The hotel is new and clean. We like the welcome drink offering for free every evening which we can also get some food from the supermarket near by to enjoy with the drinks. The room size is compact but it's OK for 2 adults and 3-year-old kid for one night stay.
It’s Japanese style hotel. Staff, Mr. Tommy was very kind, friendly, warm welcome and very good support. It’s good experience to stay at this hotel. Highly recommended if you want to experience a ryokan staying.
The japanese style breakfast is awesome, exactly as shown on the website photos. The service from the staff is well above my expectation, the shuttle bus service provided by hotel is very helpful.
The mt. fuji view from the room is fantastic. Its a typical Japanese Ryokan so you can enjoy a Japanese style public bath and tatami room. The hotel is super clean. Staff is super helpful.
