The staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed assistance! The staff cooked our breakfast to order and it was delicious and filling! The common areas had tables, chairs and hammocks! The pool was beautiful and had lounge chairs as well. There was a field for children to play on and a big swing chair! The tropical plants and trees all around was so refreshing and we loved hearing the birds and monkeys in the morning. The air conditioning was key!!

There are so many locally owned places to stay in Costa Rica making it a game of chance to find a good one, Tecal is a good one. When we arrived we found Tecal to be a popular destination as the parking lot was full. People used it for a vacation stay as well as for business. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff helpful and friendly. It was a short 300 meter walk to the beach. The beach is a national park so there is an admission fee, for Costa Ricans it is only 1200 colones. The breakfast was included and was very good. Service in the restaurant was excellent. There is a small super across the street, another restaurant, and a grocery store (MaxiPali) within walking distance.

The restaurant and the servers are the best part of this place and is why we booked here. Carla and Andres were incredible servers and were always doing everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our meals. Being celiac the 100% gluten free menu was a treat! It was so nice to be able to look at the menu and order anything. Even my partner who isn’t celiac said the food was very good. The reception staff and housekeepers were also very nice and did a great job cleaning. The views were very beautiful during the day.

Elegant resort, quiet, immersed in nature with breath taking...
Elegant resort, quiet, immersed in nature with breath taking views of the sea from the most exquisite villas. The staff is quiet, kind, professional, the ambience is luxurious but not ostentatious. No loud music, no tvs, a temple of peace and relaxation for couples. The spa is a very upscale experience immersed in the jungle. The biggest surprise is the food: curated by a chef who truly understands simple, fresh taste for elegant meals matched with wonderful wines (and we are picky Italian foodies!). The 4x4 drive up to Kura was also so much fun and one of the highlights of the trip. Highly recommend, a world away from the obnoxious, loud, ostentatious luxurious all-inclusive resorts which have destroyed local cultures around the world.

Uvita is a lovely area to stay in, with beautiful beaches and plenty of waterfalls to visit in the area. We recommend taking a trip to visit the mangroves in Sierpes. Our kids loved the surfing lessons they had here.

Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica.
Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica. It's huge, you feel alone on the beach. The wildlife is beautiful. Tons of restaurants and places to walk. There are different beach sectors that you can chose from. It is a National Park, so you have to pay, but it is well worth it. One ticket gets you onto all the beaches. Staff in the Nationals Park is very helpful and there are patrols on the beach from the police and the National Park Guards.

Uvita was ungodly hot -- so hot that we really couldn't enjoy the sights. Even the ocean is hot. An airconditioned hotel room is a must! Even if there are many interesting birds and animals here, unless you have a high heat tolerance, you'll likely be miserable.

It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica.
It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica. Part of the problem was that it was so unbearably hot. I couldn’t go out and walk around comfortably. I didn’t go to the beach because of the heat and that would’ve been a big attraction also although my hotel was not far from town because of the heat again I found it unbearable to walk into town and walk around which I’d like to do when I’m traveling, so basically, my problems with AveUvita were weather related

Uvita is not the typical beach town, as it's very spread out...
Uvita is not the typical beach town, as it's very spread out and you need a car or a taxi to move around. In Uvita, you can visit the Marino Ballena National Park, which is possibly the most famous attraction in the area, where you can do whale-watching boat tours and other water sports tours like snorkeling and scuba diving.
We visited the Marino Ballena National Park and found its whale-shaped beach very suggestive and unique. However, we were also very underwhelmed by the poor housekeeping of the park. There was rubbish everywhere and this is disappointing and upsetting given that this is supposed to be a protected natural reserve and you also pay for the access at a substantial price per person, which should guarantee thorough housekeeping.
We went also to Playa Hermosa on our way to Uvita, but the amount of signs warning visitors of possible thieves, ruins a little bit of the vibe and it's not very relaxing having to watch your back all the time. Overall the beach is very nice and nothing happened to us. Since Playa Hermosa is also free to access, we recommend a visit, at least a stop by.
Excellent location on the edge of Uvita yet also on the edge of the jungle. Easy walk to beautiful National Park beach with no access control. David is a friendly and helpful host. Very cheap tents but comfortable with handbasin and platform and shade. Evening meals provided to avoid walk into town. Excellent swimming pool. Uvita National Park is a peaceful alternative to over - touristed Manuel Antonio and Cool Waters is an excellent base. Recommended.
This was my first trip to Costa Rica. Our first airbnb did not work out but finding and booking at Gaia Ecolodge saved the trip! This personal villa had air conditioning, a great shower, king size be and was very clean. The pool was nice. The onsite bar and restaurant is amazingly delicious- having breakfast included was an added bonus. Also the best pina colada I've ever had! Would absolutely stay here again!
This was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. A spectacular view, delicious breakfast (e.g. self-made quiche, banana bread,...) and super kind hosts. Dear Keith and Joe, thank you so much for this amazing experience including all the tips and tricks for dinner, attractions and transportation. We could not have wished for a better start for our stay in Costa Rica. We highly recommend this place 😊
The garden in the Cristal Ballena Boutique Hotel &the delicious food &drinks in the restaurant were perfect and all the people who work there were so friendly and sunny up.
I also enjoyed the Yoga &Meditation Pavillon a lot in the early morning time! There would be also an opinion to take an hour with a Yoga teacher.
Thanks for this amazing stay in your hotel.Best regards Kerstin from Austria.
The views, location, villas and pool area are all fantastic - especially for the price we paid! We would absolutely recommend this place and would consider visiting again if we go to Uvita.
It was the best WiFi and water pressure we had in Costa Rica (both weak in lots of the places we stayed) and we had an amazing member of staff looking after us during our stay, called Lady.
the room was lovely, had everything we needed including a balcony with the best view. sounds of nature around you, was great. the best part was the hosts and the food! it is owned and operated by an Italian couple, who cook THE BEST food. we had the greatest meals in Costa Rica at this hotel, even the breakfast was incredible. AMAZING and highly recommend!!!
Everything! Room was very clean and AC worked great, the view from the room was amazing. The lounge and pool were the best. The service of the staff was amazing, especially the owner Pablo. He was very kind and helpful with amazing Omotenashi mind. We love everything about this place and staying at La Uvita Perdida was one of the highlights of our trip.
Amazing views. We saw white faced capuchin monkeys and all sorts of birds (including hummingbirds and tucans) from our very clean and comfortable room.
Very kind and helpful staff. They were even patient with my Spanish :-)
The restaurant had good food. The best Gallo Pinto we had during our trip so far.
We can definitely recommend the stay!
We loved the Yuli Hotel! Such a lovely oasis in the heat of Uvita! Hotel has such a nice vibe, and the pool surrounded by the tropical trees is such a nice place to relax. We spent four nights and wish we could have had longer. Would def recommend. Seba restaurant is also great for meals, and bars does cocktails in the afternoon also.
beautiful place, shirt walk to the best beach I’ve ever seen, and not too many people go there. Ronald the landlord was terrific, accommodated for everything. he even gave me 2 rides to the store, plus arranged the best whale watching trip I’ve ever had. Plus he arranged my rides to and from downtown.
This was one of the best places we stayed in Costa Rica. The owner and the staff are very friendly, there is a beautiful beach 5min walk from the hotel, and the whole place is clean and well run. We had a very good time there.
Thank you, Jakub and the whole team :)
Amazing architecture, really beautiful design of a luxury
hotel, definitely underpriced, great amenities (big gym, sauna, pools, baths, yoga area, water slide, trampoline etc), and again - really beautiful design ; better than the pictures
The location had the best view and the property was even better than we imagined! The host was super friendly, accommodating and met all of our needs. Highly recommend this property for a trip to Uvita!
The best kitchen I have used during my trip. If you're into cooking, stay here. The surrounding garden adds a lot to the location, it's easy to feel at home here. Also, staff was more than helpful.
I love the place one of my best vacation all the staff are so friendly special luis bartender , Adan receptionist I would highly recommend and I’ll definitely go back I love Costa Rica pura vida!!
