Lovely sandy beachside town, friendly locals, great public transport especially the tram so easy to get to Ostend & Knokke-Heist. Fabulous bakeries !! We've been in the summer and winter as we have family living here. De Haan was lovely. It seems to be an upmarket seaside town.
De Haan was lovely. It seems to be an upmarket seaside town. I imagine it would look amazing in the summer, although with the Christmas lights it was magical at this time of year. Not many options for restaurants and most were very expensive. There was a lovely pop-up bar (basically an alpine-style wooden hut) which was rammed full every night with affordable beers and great atmosphere.

Lovely beach, really wide and long.
Lovely beach, really wide and long. Great supermarket (Delhaize) for self catering. Easy transport along the coast using the tram. Nice little town and the only one with low rise buildings behind the beach unlike the rest of the Belgian coast which has high rise apartments.

Very pretty and clean., tasteful resort. All low rise buildings. Great that the tram runs the length of the Belgian coast line. Lots of opportunities for cycling, walking. Small town at the seaside. Nice beach. Restaurants, shops etc. Ideal for people and families who prefer a smaller more quiet place. Someone looking for a more vivid atmosphere may prefer Knokke or Ostende.

I read the reviews of the breakfast but nothing prepares you for the locally sourced gourmet feast that awaits each morning! There are fantastic restaurants nearby and De Haan itself is a really lovely place to go on holiday to. So many great cities and towns within a short driving distance. Nice and quiet, our room was at the back/side of the building and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok, enough to fill a hole but not to the same grand standard we'd experianced in Germany and Switzerland but for the price we paid, in De Haan, the price represents a very good deal. The location does not get better in De Haan, and in this apartment, you even get a 270 degree breathtaking view of the beach and sea. The apartment is beautifully decorated in modern, clean design and is at the same time cosy and comfortable. Enjoying the sun on the tiny balcony while looking at the sea just felt like holiday.
