We were independent travellers. Hiroshima was easily accessible by public transport especially with the 'Free' JR pass hop on hop off bus. 3 separate circuits gave us plenty of choice. The 'Peace Park' precinct was a great focus for a day or even two.

Food for vegetarians is a bit of a challenge in Hiroshima; Margherita from Pizza Hut was atrocious.
Getting around is easy with good public transport.
Would avoid a budget hotel like Apa in future.

It is a powerful albeit sobering visit.
It is a powerful albeit sobering visit. The horror of the event is so clear when visiting the museam and monument. The town is loverly and eveywhere you see signs, art and street names evoking lover and peace. a testiment to the people who live there choosing positive sentiments today given the recent past. I think it is a good thing for prople to see and contempate.

Our guide Nob, picked us up at the hotel. On the way to the ferry he explained the history of Hiroshima. The boat ride to Miyajima and the Itsukushima Jinja shrine was very scenic. After lunch we went back to town and the Atomic Dome - terrifyingly impressive - and the Peace Museum. Do not miss this experience.

Hiroshima is a beautiful, nice city, in which I would highlight the Hiroshima Castle, a park with a ginkgo tree, a beautiful city center with numerous watercourses and specific cuisine. Good for 2-3 nights
many points can be reached by easy walking
there is good public transport available for more distant points
but in bad weather there is nothing to do and staying overnight is enough
The open roof onsen is a must! It was sooo relaxing and on a cool night in October, the hot water felt just right and melted away all the stress and fatigue of carrying heavy luggage and all the walking.
The hotel feels fancier than the price implies. We were really impressed.
We left our luggage in the morning and when we checked in at night, it was already in our room. It was really so convenient and perfect and the views from the front desk on floor 13 are wonderful. Definitely got some good pictures overlooking Hiroshima.
Location is brilliant for the Hiroshima train and bus station, which are both around the corner from the hotel, 5 mins away.
The onsen was fabulous! Staff were lovely and could speak a little English or would use their 'pocket talk' machines to help converse! Luggage receiving/forwarding worked a treat again. The breakfast in the Komeda coffee shop attached to the hotel was sufficient to start the day. Room was compact, as per alot of the Japanese hotels, but had everything you needed.
The location for shin Hiroshima was terrific. The hotel was very bright and comfortable and staff overall friendly.
Breakfast was standard hotel far but lacked some of the flare of traditional Japanese breakfasts experienced whilst in Japan for the last four weeks.
We stayed just one night purely for the convenience of heading to the train station the next morning with ease. Cookie cutter Sheraton hotel that services the needs of tourists exiting and entering Hiroshima.
I have stayed in Hiroshima over 10 times over the last few years and I have experience of many different types of hotels and places to stay. Especially considering the price of the stay, which was exceptional value, for my needs, this was the best place I have stayed in so far. Some people might prefer regular hotels, but this place had more of a vibe of an airBNB, but without any need of dealing with anyone face to face, as the check it is all electronic.
Amazing view, I was lucky to be assigned at the 12th floor facing the sea. Even though the hotel is old, the rooms are renewed with smart TV, comfortable sofa, and good toilet amenities. There are many restaurants available and it's great to have cocktails at night on the top floor. Breakfast is also served there, which makes it a unique stay experience in Hiroshima. It's also a big honor to be able to be hosted in the place where the G7 Summit was held.
very close to Hiroshima station. the shared kitchen is very clean and has everything you need. The cabin is larger than the usual “capsule” you have in japan, so you won’t feel so cramped. It also has a small fan in each cabin so the air circulation was really good and can really feel the AC. free luggage storage, and the’s a café on the first floor. Compare to other capsule hotels, this is one of the best.
Hotel Granvia is closely located to the station, with an entranceway directly off the station itself. Very convenient for anything around Hiroshima. The staff were efficient and attentive and highly professional. Very good value and convenient location. Breakfast buffet also excellent wiht wide selection of local foods including local specialties.
My room was comfortable, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the amenities were exceptional! If and when I return to Hiroshima, I will try and stay at this hotel first.
It was also very convenient that a majority of the staff spoke some English. I was never embarrassed or nervous when I couldn't say something in Japanese.
Walking distance to the train station making it easy to make Hiroshima a homebase to surrounding areas. Lots of restaurants nearby. Very clean and roomy quarters. Japanese/European breakfast was excellent. Super polite and helpful staff. One checks in to the hotel electronically, eliminating the need for translator.
Loved the QR codes in the lobby to explore Hiroshima. Free coffee and tea almost for the entire day was great. It’s in a prime spot that’s about a 20min walk from the Memorial Peace Park. The staff was super friendly and wanted to ensure we had the best stay at their hotel and in Hiroshima.
The view was nice, however hotel was a long way out of town. The foyer was attractive.
The breakfast was very poor.
Don't expect to enjoy a drink at the 23rd floor or desert, it is only open restricted hours.
There is a handy shuttle service to and from Hiroshima, it is free.
Excellent location, very close to Hiroshima Station and the JR hop on hop off tour bus. There are also a lot of dining options in and around the train station.
This hotel had a massage chair in the room, that was very welcome to take the muscle stress away after long walking days.
if you're travelling to Japan and on the fence about booking a capsule hotel: don't hesitate and do it. we traveled with 3 friends - 1 woman, 2 men - and had a great time in the capsule hotel. bed was comfortable, facilities super clean, and we had a great stay in Hiroshima.
Our favorite hotel in Japan. Clean, beds so comfortable and the staff was so kind (helped me organize pizza delivery for son's birthday). Super affordable. Breakfast looked good but we didn't have time to eat it. Good location, right next to Hiroshima station.
The bar up the top has excellent views of Hiroshima and has a great vibe. The hotel is in a great location, super easy to walk to the main shops and also to the Peace Park. The tram is right outside the door.
Good hotel at a great price. All the staff were very friendly. It is in a great location close to Hiroshima Castle, A-Dome and a lively area of restaurants and bars.
