Surrounded by Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystical capital of the North. With more than 300 temples, it's considered one of the most important cultural centers in the country.
Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still has a relaxed and laid-back feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
This reputation is partly due to its proximity to lush green areas, mountains like Doi Suthep, and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 37 miles away with Thailand’s highest mountain.
Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city center are a popular choice, with picturesque scenery featuring its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.
The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Road hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.
Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss "The Rose of the North" deals on Booking.com!
I loved it in Chiang Mai. The temples are beautiful, the Chiang Mai night bazaar was lovely (probably one of my favorite night markets, as they had shopping, food, and Muay Thai fights), and many day trips available. The nicest elephant sanctuaries seem to be located here as well. I went to Chai Lai Orchid for a day at the elephant sanctuary and had the greatest time of my life. The only downside about Chiang Mai was I went in April which happens to be burning season. Air quality wasn't great. It was considered "Unhealthy" throughout my stay but that didn't stop me from being outside and doing activities. Just be careful.

"moat" . There are many interesting temple sites and places where markets are held, some of which are quite special. The people are delightful and are used to their town being inundated with foreigners.
There is plenty of nightlife when the temperature is easier than the daytime heat.
There is a huge range of eateries. The street food I found much preferable to some of the food "courts" especially set up for visitors.
Shopping is endless. The clinics are also.

City is good, people is also friendly.
City is good, people is also friendly. All is centered to make visitors spend money. avoid trips to shops nearby (ride will be offered by tuc tuc drivers) it is just a scam, nothing is like try to show.....
In general there is nothing really interesting to do overthere, national park visit is also nothing, not interesting.

A welcoming oasis. Beautiful and charming. Very easy to get around the city with the Grab app. Unfortunately, March is "burning season" and the air was terrible, but of course not the fault of this unique and lovely property.

It is a wonderful part of Thailand and great place to enjoy.
It is a wonderful part of Thailand and great place to enjoy. Just remember that to get around this city the red Ute buses are not like the blue Ute buses of Pattaya. Price for use seems to differ with the driver and they tell you when to get off. So it is safer to use Uber.

Chiang Mai is a lovely old city that still retains character. It has many temples, and some of the old city walls and moat remain. Great restaurants. Easy flights in and out. close to Laos and the Golden Triangle.
We stayed in superior room and loved it!
Room was impeccable clean, bright, very spacious and well equipped.
Big sunny bathroom, Japanese style toilet and standing bath.
Convenient location, was nice to have access to bikes.
We liked it the most form our 3 hotels in Chiang Mai (same level hotels)
Breakfast and reception staff were very nice and very present.
Breakfast was not bad, quite standard, good coffee machine, but beans not of the best quality, however nice coffee shop in the lobby and Pegasus coffee just around the corner.
The location is very good, it is in the old city and you can go everywhere by walking.
The hotel is beautifully furnished and all details have been considered.
Also there is air purifier in the room for Chiang Mai's air pollution.
Breakfast was delicious and the options were sufficient. When we said we would leave the hotel early to join the tour, they prepared breakfast for us early. Thank you very much :)
John and his wife are very helpful and sweet people. John's suggestions about the city were great.
Overall great stay.
Location, pretty cool views from the Deluxe room.
The Suite room I stayed in the next room ,did not offer such views, just the road and more noise?very big Bathrooms than expected and an overall clean establishment overall. Except for the minor let down in my room(both rooms I stayed in had hair strands). Staff spoke good English. Helpful. It was luxury than I expected. Safe/central location and very close to the airport. Probably best staying here than going into the old city which is only 5mins away.
This place was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! the location, the room, the service, the breakfast, everything was exceptional :) This would definitely be a 5 star hotel in Europe!
We arrived very early in the morning and they tried their best to let us check in as early as possible. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Also, the breakfast ist delicious. You can choose between Korean, American and Thai breakfast. The Korean breakfast was amazing!
Thank you so much Rimwiang Team, we had a great time :)
Close to the airport and on the edge of the old city gate this boutique hotel is down an unpromising back street but is a little gem - well priced with lovely and helpful staff (Hello Min!) who are attentive and very helpful booking trips, taxis etc. The room was spacious and really nicely designed, breakfast was good and substantial, there's a small pool and a cocktail bar still finding its feet. The old city is ten minutes walk away and there's an excellent massage shop just up the road.
Most amazing was the staff - so kind, helpful and in a good mood. They went above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. Especially ‘Fr@_Me’ was extremely supportive and friendly. I also very much enjoyed the delicious breakfast and the free glass bottled water. I also had the chance to meet the owner who is an incredible inspiring personality. Thank you very much to all of you I enjoyed it more than in the 5 star hotel - best value I ever experienced in my life!
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Spacious room with comfortable bed. Loved the balcony. Really friendly and helpful staff (reception helped organise excursion to elegant sanctuary and transfer to airport). Large beautiful pool, which was great to cool off at the end of the day. Nice breakfast and nice simple cooking tips during lunchtime. Very good location for exploring old city. Saturday night market just a few minutes walk. Nice bar / restaurant opposite. Lo
We liked everything about this property. First of all the staff is amazing. They are happy, polite, thoughtful and very helpful. The location is convenient for exploring the old city, being picked up by a taxi, and being on the path of hotels to be picked up for tours or cooking classes. Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. The hotel and rooms are very clean, modern, and nicely appointed. An excellent choice for a visit to Chiang Mai.
The hotel was really new, modern, well located and had water and fresh fruits for free everyday, which is really nice in a hot city like Chiang Mai. Also loved the breakfast, well served from early morning until 10am. The location is great too, walking distance to main streets and Old City but in a quiet and peacefull street. Have to say that it was really worth it, specially considering the costs involved in the stay.
The location is fantastic. Close to restaurants and everything the old city has to offer. Thr breakfast was very good. A few options but they also cook one of three meal choices. They even fed us a little earler as'we were heading out on a'tour. The cook is'awesome. The cleaners are really nice and do a great job. It is'a small hotel but you are in the old city. We could walk everywhere. We enjoyed our stay.
The Vieng Mantra is a cute boutique hotel in the old city. The location is the best, close to the Sunday Walking Street and to PhaeTae Gate. I've stayed here on two trips now and plan to again the next time I travel to Chiang Mai. I was surprised at how well maintained it was after closure from the pandemic. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The price is very good value.
Absolutely stunning colonial property, everything has a 5* quality. Beautiful pool, and as small boutique hotel feels very personable and welcoming. Rooms exceptionally clean. Vintage cars available for transport. Only a short walk from a night market, and short tuktuk ride to the old city. Perfect for those who want to enjoy a more peaceful side of Chiang Mai in luxury
The amenities and the staff are great. It’s in a great location as well. I’ve been living, working and traveling to Chiang Mai for over 17 years and this is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Chiang Mai. We had the Mountain View Suite on the 7th Floor. From there we had a great view of Doi Suthep. We will be back for a longer stay next time.
The location is perfect. You are in the center of the old town. This hotel is perfect for people who want to see a lot of Chang Mai and the old city. The rooms and equipment are nice and the staff is helpful. This hotel is for people who want to explore and need an affordable place to stay in the old city!
Best place in Chiang Mai 😁 I even made a friend who works at the hotel but all staff are so kind and helping with everything you need ! Best stay I will comeback again without even blinking! Very recommended this hotel is so good !
Thanks for everything guys miss you already message to the staff!
Love the location in the old city. It’s next to my favorite vegetarian restaurants. The hotel decor is traditional Thai with beautiful art. It’s still got the old Thai vibes. Love that. I love the pool and garden area. My favorite place to stay in chiang mai. Great value for the price.
Lovely little boutique hotel just outside of the Old City of Chiangmai. Location is cracking and the little pool was a nice bonus, as were the gym facilities. Kind and helpful staff, plus a terrific breakfast which was the best that my fiance and I had had in Thailand.
Spotless, quiet, everything you need around the hotel, friendly staff, big room, huge bed, overall one of the best places I stayed in the city centre of Chiang Mai. I stayed here for total 11 nights, I'm definitely coming back.
this hotel is very nice. probably it is the best in Chiang Mai city. don’t hesitate to book it. I will definitely come back if I travel to Chiang Mai again.
