Such a peaceful and lovely little property. The rooms were very small but immaculate. The loft upstairs is such a wonderful place to chill and look out over the city. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff were kind and helpful. Thank you!

The rooms are spacious with tall ceilings and they are very clean! Of all the places we stayed in Chile, the attention to cleanliness here was the best. Breakfast was standard: meat, cheese, bread and eggs, with juice, yogurt, pastry, and basic fruit. We appreciated that the breakfast room was always available for hot drinks and we enjoyed relaxing the in the guest lounge. The hotel took care of our laundry (for an extra fee) which was greatly appreciated!

GORGEOUS view of Punta Arenas from the room. It was such a lovely stay in a historical building nestled right on top of the hill - just a couple of steps away from the observatory area.

gorgeous little seaside town. it's a nice respite if you're doing some serious hiking up in torres del paine, and i'd definitely spend a day or two walking around the main street and by the seaside.

It really is only a place to go to other better places in Patagonia. The restaurant scene is not great and there’s really not much to do there. I’d say use it as a place to stay overnight to go somewhere else but if you do don’t expect to find any great options for food or entertainment.

A great (very windy) city at the end of the world.
A great (very windy) city at the end of the world. Close to breathtaking scenery (Tierra del Fuego, Torres del Paine) and historical sites. The city felt secure. The fish market offers amazing good value dishes (no vegan options:(). There are good walks close to the city (a national park 15 minutes by car). Punta Arenas is easy to navigate on foot if the weather permits - the wind can bowl you over!!!

Punta Arenas is a nice town.
Punta Arenas is a nice town. But don't expect too much of it. It has really fantastic, great coffee places. And very good restaurants, actually it is amazing that there are so many nice restaurants and so many great coffee shops in such a small town. Apart from that, it is a small town. Don't get me wrong: it is the *town* to be if you want to be at the Strait of Magellans!

Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected!
Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected! I had heard from others that it was a sleepy residential town, but we enjoyed walking along Playa Colon, walking up to Mirador Cerro de la Cruz, shopping for handmade gifts at the Municipal Artesanal Market, petting the community dogs at the Plaza de Armas, touring Cerveceria Austral (reservations needed in advance), going on one of the penguin and sea lion tours, and eating authentic classic Chilean food at La Marmita restaurant. If we had more time, we would've visited some of the nearby museums to learn more about Magellan's sail through the strait. We loved that Ubers were quick and plentiful but that the town was very walkable just about anywhere.

The center of town is quite a distance from the airport.
The center of town is quite a distance from the airport. Punta Arenas is good for a jumping off point to explore Patagonia. For birders, there is a great e-Bird hot spot just out of town towards the airport.
Carmen was extremely welcoming and friendly! The rooms and beds were very clean, and the laundry service was always on time. She went above and beyond for us. We got a parking ticket, and she marched down to the police station with us, bargained the price down, then showed us how to pay it. She then let us park at her house so we didn't have to use the street. We also got to share a meal with her and her family on Christmas, which for travelers new to Chile, was an incredibly educational experience.
Excellent location within a walking distance from the center/shops/restaurants/cafes, but still quiet at night and 1 min from the ocean where you can walk on the beach. We were welcomed with delicious chocolate muffins. The lady who owns the place is absolutely lovely - super friendly and welcoming, gave us her WhatsApp if we had questions. Bed is comfy, place is clean and has a large window. Exactly as advertised. Very safe, properly locks with a gate. Punta arenas is generally very safe.
Ana was such a special host! She provided much more than was expected. She was helpful w local restaurant suggestions, was willing to take me to a lookout of the town, and helpful w everything along the stay.
Ana had a knack for educating about local Patagonia history.
The condo was very clean. It had all the amenities one would need. The views were very nice as well.
I would highly recommend Vilanita to anyone looking for a place to stay in Punta Arenas! You will not be disappointed.
We were in 810 and 811 on the top floor with ocean views. The windows were small, but they told us that would be the case. The room was large and well equipped with a small sitting area. Staff were all very helpful and all front desk staff spoke English. They were also knowledgeable about the COVID requirements for guests leaving Chile and did print out our documents and negative tests. The breakfast was plentiful. Room service was quick, affordable and tasty.
I very much liked its location at the edge of the Strait of Magellan. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was ample but the bedclothes were kind of funky, not really hotel bedding, more like the blankets you get when staying over at somebody else's house. But comfortable in general. I also liked that it's near the airport, outside of the main city of Punta Arenas, and right next to a natural history museum that's housed in a historic building.
- of course host- Fabian, hospitality
We arrive late(after ck in hr, after 9:30pm but he waited and answered all our questions about punta arenas and dinner advise although we were just staying one night. I could tell he was genuinely caring person for all travellers.
- very clean, cozy bedding
-good size room
- free coffee and snacks in the morning (almost as good as full breakfast for some hotel)
- good value
Can we give this apartment a 10+++? Meticulously clean, on a quiet street near the beach, close to everything. The most comfortable bed I’ve slept on in Chile (and none were terrible!) The kitchen is well-equipped and pristine. Maria Inès, our host, welcomed us like family and it was hard to say goodbye. Don’t know how soon we will be back to « La fin de la Ruta » but we would definitely stay again.
Food average; limited breakfast selection and the dinner quality in the restaurant was average at best. But, that’s similar to others in Punta Arenas. Some rooms are newer that others but overall it was clean and comfortable. Rooms at the front in the road can be noisy. No bar or other facilities were available due to covid- but other hotels in the area were operating their full facilities.
So beautiful! 5 minutes from the airport, yet in a tranquil country setting.
Due to a late flight, we couldn’t arrive until 2am but the owners were so nice about it even though it was more than 5 hours past check in. And they were ready with a complimentary, traditional and tasty Chilean breakfast as soon as 4 hours later. Caring, beautiful people and service. So impressed and grateful
Hotel Albatros is perfectly located in Punta Arenas. The staff, Roberto in particular, went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. We had an early morning start and so they had breakfast packed for us. He also suggested great restaurants that we tried out in our stay in Punta Arenas. All in all, a great stay and highly recommended.
Filipe is very kind and clean, he is very friendly and helped me with great recommendations of restaurants and Chilean culture. Very sympathetic person.
But the highlight of the stay was chiri the cat. She is such a sweet cat curious and making sure you have a good company. I wish I could take chiri with me
Well located hotel nearby a beautiful square. If you like experiencing historical buildings, it is a nice place to stay.
Large bathroom with a very good shower!
There are plenty of options of good restaurants in a walking distance (10 min away).
I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel.
This place is tucked in a forest and away from the city. Our host picked us up at the airport and we had a lovely conversation about the indigenous people who used to live in Chile. We wished we had booked another day here. Quiet and peaceful.
Carolina was the best part of this stay. She was so kind and welcoming and really cared that I had a nice stay. The lofts are beautiful and immaculately clean. Would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Punta Arenas!
A quirky hotel full of character. Staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast and evening meal. The view from the room was superb and it was only a short walk into the centre of Punta Arenas
Breakfast was good and plenty of choices.
Staff was friendly and helpful, we got backs to go for our first breakfast very early.
