It was centrally located, easy to walk anywhere in town, clean and tidy, with a pleasant feel about it. Parking is pretty tight with bigger cars, but the host helped organise everyone in and out, working together so we could get to our ferry without stress. Would return to stay in Picton longer!

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.
Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

Great place.
Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds.
Picton is the gateway to the Sounds. We were meeting our daughter and husband to make daytrips on their yacht to outer bays, sailing and fishing, but there are water taxis which will drop/collect to various bays for swimming and fishing. There are lovely walking tracks. Nice place to visit.
Unbelievable! We saw a rare native white spoonbill wading in front of the hotel. And ducks visited us for bread. I wish we could have stayed longer as it was calm and idyllic. This hotel is now our favourite and we will be staying every time we drive through. Wonderful lady greeted us and made us feel at home. Cleanliness is extremely important to me, and the place was spotless. The linen was perfect and the bed comfortable.
Thank you so much 😊
The greeting with wine and a personalised cheese platter was a lovely touch to the luxurious room. We were also upgraded due to us being on our honeymoon which was a lovely surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed the room. This is a unique spot with a different vibe only having three rooms in the hotel, making it more personable and special. The breakfast room service was well worth it as well.
Great people and great location. My host really helped with onwards travel and keeping luggage. Even gave me hand written suggestions for my travels in South Island. I booked because another travels said how friendly they were. Well, I endorse that. A fantastic change from hotels. Thoroughly recommend it. Wish I had stayed longer. Edward.
Although the size of the room was not exactly large, it was one of the best accommodations I've had. This place has some New Zealand "spirit" and good vibe. It is in the center of Picton so everything is really close (1 to 5 min walk). Tiny small room with everything you need. Will book again.
View from our room and terrace was of Queen Charlotte Sound and the marina, absolutely beautiful! The hotel manager (assumed owner) was super friendly. Room was huge and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Location was a couple minute walk to restaurants, bars, and harbour.
The hotel manager Ken was awesome ,our ferry was cancelled ,and needed ideas how and who to go with to get our car from Picton to Tauranga, and he connected us with somebody on the spot. Thank you so much Ken appreciated it immensely.

The location is spot on, virtually waterfront and a room with a view. I love Picton and think its underrated. This motel is fine and reasonably priced for its facilities and convenience. Well functioning bathroom, extra pillows etc and comfortable.
Nice little house in center of Picton. Had everything we needed and was clean and ready on time. Close to downtown and walkable to restaurants for dinner. Easy parking. Host responsive. Good place to stay night before ferry reservation.
Pure luxury, the most beautiful apartment we had so far. Stunning views onto Picton and Queen Charlotte Sound. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the evenings in front of the fireplace. Just like home.
Fantastic backpacker hostel if you are backpacking in New Zealand. Very cheap and you can meet a lot of people. Also a nice cosy place and the staff are very helpful. The selfmade free dessert on 7pm is a very sweet touch too.
Super spacious, and awesome facilities. The staff was amazing and very accommodating! I felt very welcomed by the friendliness that was on offer. If I’m ever in Picton again I will be coming back to Harbour View Motel!
It’s really quiet though only 100 meters from Hwy 1. Surrounded by gardens and fields. Very clean and well equipped. Loved waking up to the birds. Close enough to Picton to see the museums and eat.
Great location with views of the harbour
Lovely continental breakfast.
The standard room in the main part of the hotel was well presented with good shower pressure.
A lovely hotel in a convenient location to explore the area. The staff was very accommodating. A huge thank you to Elizabeth for all her attention to every detail.
We walked a section of the Queen Charlotte track from Ship Cove using water taxi from and returning to Picton. The hotel was very well located for this.
