Beautiful location, especially the views from the brkfst area. We were pleasantly surprised to find a healthy and sustaining breakfast with very delicious house made bread. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property was immaculate and well located within a few min walk to the square.

We liked the location, which is hidden a bit from all the town pedestrian traffic yet close enough to walk to the center of town. Staff at breakfast was very welcoming.

The town is cute and colorful. People are real nice, like everywhere I've been in Honduras so far from Tegucigalpa to Utila to here. The town is full of steep hills.
The ruins themselves are a bit tricky to find from town, but everyone is super helpful. Booked a guide at the ruins, which was nice because I learned so much! I think if I wasn't with a fellow backpacker to split the cost, I wouldn't have gotten the guide because it's $30. Sépulturas and the tunnels were closed because of covid. Lots of red macaws eating around the entrance and flying around everywhere!
I really enjoyed Macaw Mountain bird park. I love toucans and they had a bunch of different species in their rescue center. I didn't expect to fall in love with the macaws! The place is full of red macaws in their rescue facilities and flying around. You can take photos with red, blue, and green macaws! You can feed them biscuits, too. No holding because of covid, but being surrounded by all the colorful macaws is so much fun!
A lot of these birds were kept as pets and have physical and/or mental trauma that they wouldn't survive long on their own in the wild. The ones you take photos with can't fly, some of them you can see their physical injuries but they seem as excited to see us as we were to see them. There's an area for others with molted feathers and the one loved me and kept blocking my view of the other birds. So cute, but so sad knowing how bad he must've been treated to molt so much.

very friendly local people.
very friendly local people. Staff and guides at the ruins are very good. It felt like a very safe town and we enjoyed being in the zocalo with the local people and their children in the evening. We've been to many mayan historic sites and this site is amongst the better places.

Lovely colonial town.
Lovely colonial town. Plenty to do and see - the ruins, horseback riding, zip lining, the macaw park, hot springs. We were kept well entertained! Had a great dinner at the german restaurant in town. There is also a great coffee shop called san rafael.

Let’s face it, you are only staying here to visit the ruins.
Let’s face it, you are only staying here to visit the ruins. That being said, it is a pleasant little town, emphasis on little, that has some fine restaurants and a nice museum on Central Park. Not much to see here except for the ruins, but they are spectacular, as is the on site museum. One of the best, if not the best maintained Mayan site. Well worth a visit. And you can walk anywhere in town as well as to the ruins. Go early in the morning and you will have the place to yourself.

Beautiful, and easy to navigate yourself.
Beautiful, and easy to navigate yourself. During the off season it's easier to walk around ad take pictures.
Definitely recommend taking water, bug spray, sun block and/or an umbrella, it helped me.
The entrance is pretty easy to walk through and there are always people around willing to answer questions, so you definitely can just wander around and take your time. Don't let the macaws scare you with their chatter, they caught me off guard.
Amazing! wonderful hotel atop hill with multi levels overlooking hilly tropical forest view with cicadas singsonging away from our private balcony. With best beds I’ve slept in for a long while woke refreshed to strong hot shower and delicious breakfasts (and strong great Honduran coffee) on the hotel patio. I did yoga in the morning in another garden area! Fast wifi. Really liked host - kind and made it look easy getting us booked to La Cieba - which was nearly impossible according to all the blogs.
I had an excellent stay at Hotel Cuna Maya. The owner (and her entire team) is incredibly welcoming and really cares that her guests have a great stay. She provided me with very helpful tips and recommendations and even prepared a small breakfast for the bus ride when I left very early. The rooms are very clean and equipped with everything you need (including AC). The location is excellent, with many restaurants and Parque Central very close.
🇨🇦 A quaint beautiful little town with very friendly helpful people. Copan is truly a hidden gem in Honduras. Off the beaten path. My stay afforded me one-on-one interaction with the proprietor who was very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Ammenities were clean comfortable as well the garden/ grounds of the premises was bursting with mature colorful flowers and plants perfect for my family's photoshoot.
Overall incredible value
Spacious house with large comfortable bedrooms and kitchen and sitting area downstairs. Walking distance from centre of Copan Ruinas. There is a hostel/hotel opposite where we collected the keys which had a restaurant for breakfast etc (which we didn't end up using). Felt a reasonably quiet and safe part of town and we were able to park our hire car directly outside the house. A great base for exploring the ruins and hot springs.
Excellent breakfast, super clean, great AC in room. Very accomadating, I could put my soda or other things in their kitchen refrigerator. This hotel is at the top of a fairly steep hill, that you have to walk down to get to restaurants, etc, You can always get a tuk tuk to take you back up the hill for 15L (60 US cents), but its not so easy to get a tuk tuk going down. Loved the place and the hill didn't bother us at all.
The place is clean and staff are pleasant and helpful. Place is within walking distance to shops and the main park. Beautiful vistas from the open balconies! Would have loved to have coffee served in the hotel in the mornings as a complimentary service (that would have been a plus)
This is probably the nicest hotel in Copan Ruinas. It has a lovely pool area with welcome cocktails. The breakfast was delicious and included in the room price. The hotel is steps from the main square and close to all the nicest restaurants. Overall it was a very comfortable stay.
One of the best hotels we have stayed during our trip through Central America! Extremely good value for money, staff was very helpful both with the breakfast and with booking shuttles. The location was very good and the room very tidy and clean. We extended our stay with ease.
Nice, little hotel about 2 blocks away from the town center. Staff was very nice and welcoming and they maintained the location very neat and clean. Nothing fancy, but has everything you need for a pleasant stay in this beautiful little town.
Great house away from the noise of the plaza but close enough to walk in and enjoy the attractions.
House felt very spacious and had everything we needed for our stay.
Loved the fact you could breakfast at the Terramaya. Joxanny is amazing!
The hostel has a cool courtyard where to relax and a common room where to read books and play table games. The room was cozy and the bed soft and comfortable. A great place where to stay, one of the best hostels I found in Honduras.
Beautiful hotel in the city center. Very nice and helpful hotel staff. Unfortunately the hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are many restaurants and cafés around the hotel with excellent cuisine.
We loved everything about it! location, host, it's perfect! it makes you feel at home while at vacations!
breakfast at Hotel Casa del cafe was AMAZING!
we totally loved the home made bread and hot sauce!
Overnighted here and was very satisfied with the location, room and included breakfast. Easy walk to central plaza. Small convenience store across the street from the hotel. ATMs are nearby.
