Our room that we stayed in as well as the hotel is beautiful. It is also clean, comfortable and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Franklin and the team that was on duty really did a great job. We had forgotten an item of clothing after we checked out and Franklin called to inform us. When we arrived back at the hotel to fetch it, he was waiting outside to hand it over. That was really much appreciated. Also the complimentary creme brulee with the turndown service was a great touch :-)

I love Franschhoek, feels like your in a different country. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, for every taste and budget. Everything is in walking distance. Very nice shops to browse or buy some souvenirs. Plenty of wine farms around and if you don't want to drive take the famous Wine Tram.

The town is adorable and very safe.
The town is adorable and very safe. It is very french in the type of food served at several places (Reuben's is fantastic) and in many of the wineries. The town is known for it's gourmet restaurants and exquisite wines, all are affordable. And then there's the shopping! I like the small size of the town as it is intimate at 17,500 people and everyone is very friendly. It is very easy to walk around and the wine train is helpful for exploring the many wineries. We ended up staying an extra 2 days and would have loved to stay longer!

Our initial booking had a strong unpleasant odor and was surrounded by baboons, making it difficult to open the doors. However, the owners promptly responded and swiftly upgraded us to a fantastic property. Their professionalism was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.
We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing
The room was lovely and very spacious, Unfortunately due to excessive rain we had a flood in our bathroom and had to move rooms, we were moved to a two bedroom villa with private pool which was a bit of a bonus!
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was freshly cooked to order.
Unfortunately due to flooding in the area the wine tram was cancelled which was our main reason for visiting Franschhoek but this was obviously beyond the control of the hotel
I was one of the unfortunate few who were stranded in Franschhoek due to the floods. Even though there was a skeleton staff available, the hotel tried to accommodate the needs of the guests. Good communication, and support offered under very challenging circumstances (without electricity and water for a few hours).
Great location to access town. Beautiful setting (recommend the lake facing rooms). Comfortable rooms with all necessary amenities.
What stood out for me is the excellent team that manage the hotel - everyone so friendly, welcoming, assisting, and answering our queries, assisting our travels, booking restaurants etc. Quite unusual to see such a vibrant tea. Well done to you all. Loved the relaxed atmosphere in all areas of the hotel, and their are multiple, where we could relax with friends. Location is amazing, very central in Franschhoek, so you can walk everywhere.
Breakfast included, in a beautiful surrounding with a small river. Absolutely a beautiful view of the vineyard as well when you exit your lodge room. Fantastic pool. But the STAFF, especially EZNA, is beyond helpful and the most wonderful person. The support they provide is above and beyond. Highly recommended. Only 5km away from the Wine Tram, 8 km away from Franschhoek area as well. Please go, you will not regret it.
The breakfasts were very good, excellent food and great service from the friendly staff at Hussar Grill. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bedding is of a good quality and the room is well set out. The Staff at Protea Franschhoek are friendly, efficient and accommodating. The Hotel is well situated in Franschhoek and all your amenities are within walking distance. This is a great place to stay and explore Franschhoek!
The hotel has a typical Franschhoek style about it and is very attractive, with the vineyards and mountains in the background. The staff were amazingly friendly and attentive, and made us feel at home. The room was very well equipped and the pool area and garden well looked after.
We had a incredible time at Franschhoek Boutique Hotel, beautifully decorated rooms, extremely clean, perfectly located. The warm and friendly welcome from the reception made us feel right at home. 5☆ breakfast
Breakfast was good, location was good, rooms were large and comfortable a reminder of a provincial hotel in the country.Incredible views looking down over the Franschhoek valley.Staff were attentive and helpful.
This was a great little boutique hotel in a great location. It's located right across the street from a Woolworth's market and is in the center of town. The staff were wondèrful and I can't wait to go back!
It was very comfortable, had fantastic views of the Franschhoek mountains, a sheep pasture and vineyards, and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and several extras. Definitely recommended.
ambience of the luxury chain of „Romantic Hotels“ only as B&B in a lighter version. ideally situated in a calm side street in walking distance to all Restaurants and shops of Franschhoek.
What a great place! The hotel/ b&b. Breakfast was great and the owners were so nice and helpful. If you're staying in franschhoek this is the place to be. I wish I'd had a few days here!
Great location very central to all the sites we wanted to visit. This boutique hotel was truly five star with spacious rooms and exceptional service. Would certainly stay there again.
This is a real gem of a boutique hotel. The service is excellent and the property so tasteful and cozy. We stayed two nights but wish we had booked it for longer.
A spacious and comfortable self catering apartment in the heart of Franschhoek. Close to great restaurants and amenities. We would definitely recommend 👌
