It is often said that everyone should visit Kumbakonam at least once in their lifetime to truly experience the rich history and culture of India. Words cannot do justice to the incredible experiences this city has to offer. Everywhere you go, you will be surrounded by Indian spirituality - from the massive temples to the water bodies and greenery, Kumbakonam offers a truly unique and delightful experience for those seeking it.
Kumbakonam is also known as the karmabhoomi of Raghavendra Swami and other saints, and is home to many Muths belonging to different faiths. For Shaivas, it is considered a Bhu-Kailas, while for Vaishnavas, it is a Bhu-Vaikuntha - a true spiritual haven for all who visit.

The area is full of temples built decades/centuries before. Had chance to visit and pray in Navagraha Temples.
There are number of small and medium size veg restaurants in and around. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced.
Most of the hotels don't have attached restaurants.
Hiring a taxi is the comfortable way of reaching out to temples within stipulated time.
Taxi fare is reasonable though not according to Govt fixed rates.

One can find hundreds of old temples around Kumbakonam and it is not possible to cover everything in a few days.
Most of the Hindus travel over here to cover Navagraha temples which are nearby. You may need one or two days to cover all along with a few main temples like Swamimalai is one of the six abodes of the Lord Karthikeyan/Muruga/Subramani.
The nearest railway station is Kumbakonam and the airport is Tiruchi.

It's a temple city ... basically, you see prominent temples everywhere.. The entrance would be on a small corner road.. but inside the temple would be huge.. In some temples, Reconstruction is going on.
If we preserve these temples in a better way they will add significant value to our culture and our tourism to flourish, but most temples are being neglected and their beauty is getting eroded.

Tamil-speaking visitors who know which temples they want to visit should be delighted by Kumakonam and its surroundings. For others... The temples are very spread out and outside the city, so hiring a car and an English-speaking guide is indispensable. And the critical mass of foreign tourists visiting there seems too small for this to be readily available as it is in places like, say, Hampi.
The hotel is situated in the main street so some rooms could not avoid the traffic sound
Location - Good
View - Balcony view in the morning of 2 temples and sunrise ... pure Bliss
Food - Bonus. we ordered in room dining from Ananda Bhawan, super delicious
Facilities - Good. Spacious bathroom but railing is needed for old or disabled person (to avoid slippery floor / fall)
Staffs - Helpful and kind
The property is indeed value for money. The staff were very polite and knew their job well. Special mention about Mr.Balaji (the owner) who was very much available for all support and was also very familiar with the temples around Kumbakonam, which really helped us. He also arranged tasty food that was budget friendly.
Kuteeram is a Gem. Clean, very well maintained, Viswanath and his family go out of the way to take care of your needs. Built in a traditional style. Vishwanath made a meal for us, as we had landed there without having any food. All in all a lovely place and I will stay there again, on visits to Kumbakonam
The hotel is at walkable distance to most of Kumbakonam temples. Close to the Bhagavad Padithurai to have bath in Kaveri river. The staffs are friendly. Small hotel with about 10 rooms only. Clean and nice interior decoration. Reception staff are friendly and knowledgeable
When we went to the hotel they said thete is no booking. I showed the booking conformation but still they declined to allot a room.
I had a very bad experience.
The road is very busy and car can't move freely. No parking in the facility. Staffs attitude was very bad.
Please maintain this customer Service at all the days to come which will attract more and more valuable customers to our Temple City " Kumbakonam ". I will utilize your services from " Hotel Chela" during my next visit shortly.
Thanking you Sir.
Very good location near to almost all the temples. Accessible to shopping. Very comfortable, clean and friendly staff. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you are looking for accommodation in kumbakonam
Property was clean & well maintained I guess it's a new hotel or renovated but we were very satisfied & food was decent compared to other hotels we stayed earlier ... Friendly staffs..
Very good hotel for a place like Kumbakonam. Location is good - In close proximity to most temples, railway station and restaurants. Restaurant within the property is also good.
