Puno is a great city. I like the view on the lake and the Uros/Taquile Islands. I would go back in a heart beat.
The city itself is easy to access but due to higher elevation, I could only walk very short distances before being tired.

It is worth going to the lake in Puno since it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is also unique because of the islands made of reed. It was interesting seeing the lifestyles of the people living on these lakes. The food served as part of the tour was good, but getting to the restaurant was challenging since the climb up to the restaurant was quite steep. The overall experience was very good.

Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands.
Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands. The city itself is not very interesting, nice main square with a cathedral and few goods restaurants (Mojsa at the bottom of the Main square was really excellent, full of international travelers...). Did not have much time to climb on the nearby hills to have a panoramic view of the Puno & Titicaca. Spent two-day / one-night trip to Uros / Amantani / Taquile islands (overnight at Amantani with a local family), very interesting and very down-to-earth, but we all enjoyed the boat trip, Uros, dancing in local costumes & sunset from the top of Amantani (made it with our 8-year old daughter), as well as the next day at Taquile island. The following night we spent at Uros with Felix (Uros Amaru Marka Lodge) was excellent !

We wanted to come for the cultural experiences of the uro peoples but we saw a people who are abusing tourism to live. We were overcharged at every occurrence from transportation, housing, souvenirs, food etc. It left a bad taste in our mouths. We wish we would have spent time in other places in Peru.

Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small.
Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small. They don't have the artensans or activities that other large towns like Cuzco may have, so if you don't care to visit the floating islands of Uros, you may not want to make the trip.

It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing.
It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing. Markets galore and very well priced. Food was vaery nice in the restuarants.
Dont forget your ina toursit trap and it becomes more apparent as and if you go to the Uros islands. You will not be allowed tp leave until they have rinsed you of every penny they can get out of you -with minimal effort.
There is so much potential to do a lot more but I think the islanders have become lazy and just want to sell you trinkets which in all honesty are mass produced. The guide said they get most if not all oof their income from tourists. I can understand that, but at least make it entertaining rather than a tired old roadshow where they roll out the same thing time after time.
There is a nice promenade along the front with lots of wildlife.
Hope you enjoy.
Happy trails
A unique experience to sleep on a floating island. The location is stunning, probably one of the best in the Uros for sunset. Cesar and his family are extremely welcoming hosts, keen to share as much about the local culture while also making sure you enjoy your privacy. The food, hospitality and help finding our way there and onwards after leaving have made it our favourite experience in Peru so far.
This lodge sits on its own, far from any neighbouring lodges, and this has a truly breathtaking effect. We had a really peaceful couple nights.
To begin with, when you arrived they welcome you and help you by taking your luggage to the room. The stuff is very friendly and willing to help you. The place is almost 15 minutes from the center by taxi. If you get cold at night, don't worry because there is heating! Breakfasts start super early, which helps because the tours start early. They have a variety of foods and drinks. The best of all is when you have your coffee in front of Lake Titicaca. It is a hotel to which I would definitely return.
This property was the best place I stayed during a two week trip to Peru. Ruben and his family were incredibly kind and generous hosts. The property was very interesting, and I loved the tour that Ruben took me on of nearby islands and learning about the construction and maintenance of these unique islands. I especially appreciated the excellent meals that were provided to me! I'd love to return to this property someday and would highly recommend for travelers in Puno.
It's a very nice hotel very close to the Plaza de las armas of Puno. The room was clean and large. The breakfast is very rich including fresh eggs. The hotel was very quite and the beds good to sleep. The bathroom offered hot water at anytime which is not common in Puno.
We had an issue in the bathroom where water was sipping though an isolation. When we reported the issue the fixed the problem from our first stay to the stay one night later. Which is pretty good.
Beautiful lodge in the Uros areas. Carlos did a lot of work to improve the living conditions for guests and the result is just amazing! Comfy bed, room with sunset and sunrise view, calm and relaxing! Carlos and family are lovely people! Well located, only 15 minutes boat ride from Puno port. Staying overnight in Uros, talking to the community here is an unique experience! We highly recommend anyone interested in the culture and history of Peru to stay in Uros!
Location was perfect! We had an excellent stay on the plaza for Puno Day at a great price - only $40 US and we could watch all the parades from our balcony. The were many great restaurants nearby and it was only about 15 min walk to the port. Taxis are easy to get around town and most are only 10 -20 soles. Food in the restaurant is great and breakfast is also excellent - staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
The owner (Gonzalo) contacted us in advance to Organise the checkin. He was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and even helped us with organizing SIM-cards for our stay in Peru.
The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a good night of sleep and a very good breakfast in the morning with fresh fruits, avocado and bread. We will gladly come back if we’re in Puno again :)
Located on pedestrian only street, close to the main plaza. Many restaurants within easy walk. There was a parade during our stay and we were able to watch it from the common balcony. Breakfast was good, with view of lake Titicaca from the 10th floor. Staff was super nice and helpful in arranging transport and helping with luggage.
The hotel's proximity to restaurants, shopping, and Plaza Mayor. Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating of our requests to book a tour of the Uros Islands, hire a taxi to take us to the Mirador del Condor at sunset, as well as arrange private, round-trip transfers between Juliaca's airport and the hotel.
the place is so clean, hot water in the shower. small nice kitchen. ronal and Maria helped us to order tours and food to the room. ronal write me a massage day before we arrive, always make sure that we are ok. it was the best hotel I have been in Peru.
Very nice hotel right in the center of town. Very attentive personnel, heater in the room !!!!, nice bed, pillows, hot water.
Breakfast is tasty with lots of fruit choices.
Great value for money, highly recommend!!!
This hotel is probably one of the best that we stayed in Peru. The room was extremely clean and the bed was super comfortable. It is right in the city centre and has a very good breakfast. Highly recommended
Breakfast was great, one of the best I had during my trip around Peru.
Location is fine, for us it was perfect as it was close to the bus station
Beds were super comfortable and also hot showers :)
This is a wonderful hostel. Very clean, beds very comfortable, employees very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast is the best I've had in all of Peru. I really recommend this hostel.
great hotel.
people at he reception are superkind and superhelpful, room was ok with very good hot shower and an electric heater.
