In addition it was a great base from which to easily visit other areas. It is a city I could return to again and again. The main weakness was the breakfast, which I would call “ just ok”, and I had expected more. Lovely city. Impressive main square and very impressive cathedral; fairly compact. Old town great: loads of eateries - specially down Franco St but many elsewhere. Finding tourist information office needs a little determination but very helpful when you succeed. Many good tours reasonably priced -especially Ria Basis and also Finisterre tour. You can easily get to La Coruña by train on your own but turn up a bit early because there may be a few security checks. Santiago de Compostela is a nice place to visit but way more crowded than I anticipated. Suggest pre booking tickets to things you want to see. The cathedral and museum was wonderful. Also, suggest reviewing restaurant options and make reservations early for popular places. And pre-arrange a taxi two days prior to airport departure. If arriving by bus also pre-arrange a taxi.

Allthough a kettle and coffee and tea is costumary in American chain hotels, this one is a Mariott, at roughly 280 euros was not even included, but the staff quickly had housekeeping bring me one. the parking was very convenient. Sometimes hotels offer apples or sweets at reception, here you get lemons, believe me you won t need them... They did have umbrellas though like most 4 star hotels in Spain
