It was centrally located, easy to walk anywhere in town, clean and tidy, with a pleasant feel about it. Parking is pretty tight with bigger cars, but the host helped organise everyone in and out, working together so we could get to our ferry without stress. Would return to stay in Picton longer!

We loved the harbour views! There was also a good selection of cafes and restaurants, which all had friendly service and competitive pricing. We enjoyed our one-night stay and walked everywhere with ease.

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.
Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

Great place.
Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!
This is a very small hotel (only 3 rooms) which only adds to its charm. Its location in the centre of Picton is an additional benefit as it is only a couple of minutes' walk from shops and nearby facilities. The old world style of decor ,the large rooms which are spotless and supremely comfortable has to be experienced. The restaurant is closed for evening meals , but the welcome touch of a wine and cheese plate is a unique touch. Breakfast is offered and sets you up for the day ahead.
I would love to stay here again.
Picton is very nice, a ferry port between the New Zealand North and South islands. The gateway to the South Island.
It was a panic booking due to other factors but by chance the apartment was free. Really would have liked to stay and have use of it for longer but life makes it's own design, it's own route like driving on a motorway without turnoffs!
I went for one of the higher priced options for a King Spa Bath Harbour View. Technically all that was true - the Spa bath was good but the Ocean view was not one of the rooms fronting the hotel onto the harbour but one that looked across the car park to the harbour backing onto the main road in Picton. Very think walls and heaps of traffic.
The hosts were very welcoming and the scones in the morning were delicious! Our motel unit had a great view, linens were crisp and shower was great. The shared facilities were well managed, clean and tidy. We were welcome to stay beyond our 10 am checkout to use the shared facilities while we waited for our afternoon ferry. We recommend!
Excellent accommodation for the price point. Our room was small (expected), but very thoughtfully set-up with lots of extra touches that we wouldn't expect in an average motel. Definitely above average for accommodations in this category. Clean, well-maintained, and excellent customer service. Will be first choice on next visit to Picton.
Unique alpine like house. Eva , the host was most welcoming. She was most helpful with our stay in Picton. We had the full use of her kitchen which was very handy for us as we were returning to Christchurch the next day. The bed was very comfortable and our stay with Eva was just about the best in a 16 day holiday in New Zealand.
We had a private apartment to ourselves. Robert and Lisa had a little fridge with water and milk as well as a kettle, microwave and coffee, tea, and fresh muffins for us.
Robert gave us great advice about where to go and eat in Picton. He was also kind enough to drive us and our luggage to the train station the next morning.
View from our room and terrace was of Queen Charlotte Sound and the marina, absolutely beautiful! The hotel manager (assumed owner) was super friendly. Room was huge and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Location was a couple minute walk to restaurants, bars, and harbour.
Pure luxury, the most beautiful apartment we had so far. Stunning views onto Picton and Queen Charlotte Sound. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the evenings in front of the fireplace. Just like home.
Super spacious, and awesome facilities. The staff was amazing and very accommodating! I felt very welcomed by the friendliness that was on offer. If I’m ever in Picton again I will be coming back to Harbour View Motel!
Very nice stay, very quiet, and all we need in a hotel room of this level.
Definitely recommended ! They allowed me to stay one more hour in the room on departure day without I asked anything. Much appreciated!
Location is fine, although to be fair everything in Picton is within walking distance really.
WIFI was Ok
Shower strength was good.
