The property is amazing, really spacious, cleaned everyday to a high standard. It has an amazing outdoor area with a Braai which we enjoyed using. It’s a great base location to visit Addo Elephant park which is an hour away. The lodge is secluded and you feel totally immersed in the beautiful surroundings, we walked in the mornings, saw lots of animals especially at night on the way back to the lodge. Safari’s are also available but we did these in Amakhala so just relaxed in the afternoons. There are a few nice restaurants in the local town if you want to eat out, if not the local spar is good. The highlight was the tranquillity and nature of the accommodation. It is also very beautiful, stylish and cozy. We immediately felt at home. Ingrid is a brilliant hostess and gives good advice. She is very friendly and helpful. Both breakfast and dinner are delicious. Even though the access road to the lodge is a bit long, you can easily reach activities such as Addo and Schotia Safari.

The lodge offers standard rooms in chalets with patio, shower and satellite TV. The more spacious suites have a seating area. The property is beautiful. The staff was the best that we've ever experienced - the most personalised service that we've received at a hotel / resort. We had booked an experience with their private game reserve drive. Singazi, the chef, went out of his way to arrange Halal meat for us for the delicious "bush dinner" at the end of the Drive. We got to see Giraffes, Lions, Springbucks, Wildebeests, etc. Breakfast was amazing too, with Singazi as the chef! Other staff members including Shireen, Brighton and Luke were very helpful. We checked-in very late at 8.30pm, and Shireen made the checking-in process super smooth and even arranged snacks/dinner for us within minutes of our arrival. The room was fantastic, very modern, and far better than what you would expect in a place like this surrounded by nature. Beds were comfy.

Free private parking is also available at this chalet. Bed linen is provided. Lisa was warm and welcoming when we arrived. We stayed in a beautiful chalet overlooking the river. The view was amazing, especially during sunset. The chalet had been recently renovated and everything felt new and clean! Tastefully decorated and had everything that we needed. Great location close to Addo Elephant Park. Would definitely stay again!

The 5-star, spacious and elegantly decorated suites offer a private patio with views of the surrounding landscapes and animals. All have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, flat-screen TV, coffee machine and a bathroom with separate bath and shower and complimentary toiletries The grounds were really beautiful with cottages surrounding artfully landscaped grounds that were filled with birdsong. The chef was truly excellent and we enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners. Our park ranger, Paul MacKenzie, was outstanding. He knew the wildlife really well and had many tales from his interesting life. Rafa, one of the elephants blessed us with his presence at the gate on the day of our game drive and were fortunate to spend a lot of time with one of the lions. The Park concession was very good because it gave us long views. In contrast, during our solo drive from the bottom of Addo to the top, there was large bush obscuring views. I found the staff at River Bend to be really friendly and enjoyed my many conversations with them, particularly time spent talking to Jenna. I also enjoyed talking to Gladys, who worked in the kitchen. She and I share an interest in sewing with Shweshwe. We highly recommend River Bend. It is truly a 5 star experience.

In the restaurant guests can enjoy contemporary South African cuisine. Also available are bush picnics and weekly dinners around the boma fireplace. We loved the location and view, and the food. We stayed in House 1 and it was very large and accommodating of our family.
